I think the scene where Zuko was teaching Lee is a foreshadowing of things to come.?? Zuko seemed to enjoy teaching him, and the stuff he said about not thinking of the swords as separate weapons, but two different parts of the same whole reminded me of The Swamp.????Hmm... who's Zuko's complementary other half to make a "complete weapon?"??

I loved this episode, but one thing made me sad. The boy, Lee, really respected Zuko. He looked up to him. Then, he found out he was from the Fire Nation and he was like, "I hate you!" And Zuko still tried to be nice. It saddens me. But extremely good episode!

    *Deep moment from Niece Wu*

Yeah, me too.?? But remember the very first scene with Zuko and his mom??? Ursa put one finger in the water, and it made a ripple.?? The ripple spread out, the turtle ducks sensed the motion and came over.

*This has been deep moments with Niece Wu*

Zuko taught him so much... and as soon as he did some fire bending they didn't trust him anymore. I guess I would be disappointed about that but still, Zuko was like brother to him and should trust him anyway

That episode was amazing the animation was absolutely fantastic in the flashbacks, the storyline development was intriging and my theroy on what happened is, Ulsa (Zuko's mum) killed Azulon to save Zuko from being sacrificed but in doing so she had to run away, and because Iroh was still at Ba Sing Sei Ozai got to be crowned Fire Lord. Oh and Azula is a seriously messed up child

hey good observation *Zutara lovers this automatically does not mean Katara* actually I shouldn't have brought that up. *Starts "quandering* I always thought was sort of like Iroh, you know wht I mean, but then again Iroh is only a father figure in his life, and the first thing you would think of again is Aang, but it doesn't seem right. Nor does Katara or any of those guys. *quanders againg* hmmmmm

Perhaps it's Katara? You know, that whole Yin-Yang thing again (Fire/Water= Love)

I suppose it could be Song or Mai, but Song seems like a one-time character, and the last thing Zuko needs is an emo-goth-girl.

I took the scene as not foreshadowing anything, but simply demonstrating the bonding that was taking place between Zuko and the boy. Think about it - what more could Zuko trust him with than the broadswords? It also helped characterize Zuko, too. But symbolic? Nah. Those swords are just Zuko's skillz. : p And he was sure a much more effective fighter with them.

My vote is for Mai. I don't know why, but I think that if Mai wasn't around Azula she'd be sort-of different. She'd still have her I don't care about anything atitude, but she might be kind? maybe. Plus both Zuko and Mai like knives/swords.

I think Zuko has overgone a change. I believe he really did want to protect Lee; not make a show of himself, which I don't think he wanted to do that. It made me a bit mad that Lee wouldn't accept the knife back. After everything Zuko did for Lee he should realize that Zuko wasn't going to hurt him.

Well, I wasn't thinking in terms of romance.?? In fact, I wasn't thinking of a girl at all.?? I was thinking more along the lines of someone he could teach who is kind of his complement.?? Someone who would??make an unstoppable team.

If that's not obvious enough, here's something??else:?? the music that started going when Zuko took on those EK guys was the music from The Blue Spirit??episode--??after the alarm goes off and he and Aang are having to work together to try and get out of Zhao's fortress alive.

Is it just me or does Zuko???s eyes seem different as a child? The headshot at the end his eyes look hazel like the rest of the Fire Nation???s, but as a teenager his gaze is golden. This might be a memory effect but the screenshots from The Storm his eyes are golden in the flashback. Cartoon goof perhaps?

I don???t care what anyone says, this episode was even better than The Blind Bandit. TBB was a great way to introduce a new member to the cast, and it???s message about how the disabled aren???t as helpless as you think was conveyed quite well but Zuko Alone??? In the beginning I didn???t feel much for this episode. I thought the Western-effect was corny and didn???t get much from Zuko, his mother didn???t seem as well-developed as she could have been yet I was eventually swayed.

A lot of our questions were answered but a pretty big mystery was left hanging over us that I think we???ll have to figure out for ourselves (sounds like Lost). Iroh really WAS the first born plus the heir. Ozai wasn???t the favored son as many believed. We found out how Iroh???s son did die in Ba Sing Se, and the loss was so crushing it made Iroh retreat. If his son hadn???t died might the Fire Nation been victorious in the siege? And what happened to Ursa? I think she DID sacrifice herself to save her son, it seems her character would do that. She loved him so dearly, was there for him more than Azula probably because he needed it so badly. And Zuko was so different as a child! He wanted recognition but didn???t seem to yearn for his father???s love like he does as a teenager, it looked as if he feared Ozai. Though we saw little of Iroh I have a deeper appreciation for now. All the crap he???s been through, his story is so akin to Iroh! Losing a beloved (Iroh lost his son, Zuko never had his father), the heir yet their place was stolen by the second born. Because Iroh lost his son and Zuko???s father never loved him, they fill a void in each other???s hearts.

Zuko???s change! He wasn???t as much the angry prick in this episode. He???s growing up, he???s getting over himself! Still angst-ridden though, the barrier he put up around himself and the world is coming down. The first person he reaches out to rejects him, he knows though he has to accept it and move on. I thought Zuko handled that rather maturely. And like all good Westerns the story ends with the hero riding off into the sunset. That???s right, I said it, Zuko???s the hero for once! Just wait until he joins the Aang Gang. I had my doubts about him joining but I feel there???s a greater chance after this episode, but he still thinks of himself as Ozai???s heir. Ah well, one step at a time.

Something else I thought about is that Prince Zuko and the Blue Spirit are like different halves of the same person. By using his firebending (which before was only used by the Prince) with his swords (only Blue Spirit used the swords) he put his two sides together.

there is still a bit of contraversy over what happened to Zuko's mother. I don't think the theory where his mother takes his place is likley for the following reason:
    - The turtle-duck mother attacks zuko instead of taking her ducklings place (foreshadowing)
    - she is dressed in steath gear when when she last visited zuko
    - azula says that no one knows where their mother is the morning after to zuko
    - this theory does not explain how azulon dies (too coincidental if you ask me)
    - finally, if she did indeed take zuko's place, would they not have a funeral for her without telling the reason of death? they didn't tell the reason of Azulon's death

I know these reason may be a bit sketchy but I am a rather firm believer of the mother killing Azulon theory.

PS: mabey they never show ozai's face because he has a scar just like zuko!!!!!!?

Does any one know how Ozai's and Iroh's father's name is really pronounced??? IN the epidsode, He said that Azula was named after him.?? That gave me the impression that his name was Azula.?? But it sounded like it was pronounced Azulon.?? That is also how I've seen it spelled.?? However my closed captioning showed it as Azula as well.?? That would be cool if the name "Azula" was used for both males and females.?? And everyone thought it was amazing when we found out about Pricess Azula.?? But having one of the previous Fire Lords being named Azula is even cooler especially since Zuko's sister is a "new" character and the season/series is still fairly new.
