Ok, well, i don't think Zuko's mom killed anybody. I think Ozai killed his father. To get his palce. And?? then maybe Zuko's mom like ran away because she was so mad.

Or another theory. Ozai really was goign to kill zuko and (i'm not copying, i'm agreeing) Zuko's mommmy put herself up instead.

But Azula with the knife...also leaves me with speculations.

But in the beginning of the eppie, i thought that all those guys in kiddie form was cute. I was like squealing when i saw teeny Tylee and Mini Mai.

OK, you missed this...Azula obviously did NOT kill her own mother...she killed her own GRANDFATHER.?? She was fiddling with the KNIFE and when Zuko asks where mom is, she sincerely says she doesn't know and then smirks when saying "Oh, and Grandfather 'passed away' last night."?? Remember, she kept on saying that Ozai should be Fire Lord...well now she has her wish.
Oh yeah! She saw the grandad burn Ozai. so Azula got ticked off and killed the grandad.

After watching that, I almost wonder to myself... at what point will Zuko be better than Azula.?? We've seen both fight and at this point I jsut think their unique styles don't mix very well. Zuko is full force attacker, and Azula seems to set up for the attack... you know what I mean? Maybe I should just stick my foot in mouth before I speculate too much. But In there own right they could probably take on ALMOST anyone save the really gifted individuals like Toph and stuff, but still. Ok I'm done I'm going outside for a while

    I could be wrong, but

I think Zuko just became better than Azula.?? NOW I'm ready to see them square up again.

Why would Zuko's mom simply vanish? Even in our world murdering royal family (when being heir to a throne) results in death. Its not like Chronicles of Riddic (gain that of who you killed). Zuko's mom ran away for some transgretion. Its not like she would run away for fear of her daughter killing her, after she said that speech to Zuko. (atleast not leave him with her.) Think about when Zuko threw a rock on the "turtle-duck" and the mom bit him back.

This is what I love about Avatar, not just a bunch of stupid jokes, ITS SERIOUSLY GOOD because it digs so much deeper into everyones emotions. Like Zuko's mom dying for him, and Azula the wicked and disturbed.

I agree too. Avatar has funny moments, serious moments, cool action scenes and any type of genre mixed into one show. Zuko Alone proved a dramatic moment.

I'm not saying she didn't die, I'm saying that AZULA didn't kill her. OZAI was the one that was ordered to kill Zuko as punishment for his disrespect, if Zuko's mom took his place, it would be OZAI who killed her.

I liked how he played with knives. Gives me the feeling he is better than azula at something (notice how he uses his fires as little daggers still failed??beating her??but I think he favors using knives/swords. He also used the fire dagger thing in the begining of the series also.) It was really cool how he used fire with his sword to. But about the Ozai obtaining the throne thing. How did he exactly obtain the throne? If the mom killed Azulon than who killed her? ( I think her name was read out and said passed away before he??read Iroh's son's name, unless there was a 3rd son or could've been Iroh's wife) Also why would Azulon give the throne to Ozai before he actually pulled off the murder. It would make most sense if Azula told the mom about what happend so she went to Ozai and Azulon to ask to replace zuko with her life instead and managed to bribe them. Though the hoody thing was suspicious and the Azula holding the knife.

I think the thing with Azula holding the knife was just her stealing something Zuko liked. She's a brat, an evil, disturbed, sadistic brat. I think she gave her life for Zuko, she said in the begining that a mother would diffend her child no matter what.

I hate Azula now more then EVER.

However, I loved seeing how frickin' sweet Zuko's firebending combined with his broadsword skills. If he ever fought Azula with them, then she may get a scar to match his.

wow. this was one of the best epi's i've seen! it was so awesome! yay Zuko (i fear i am slowly becomeing a zuko fangirl! oh no, i do don't want to join the legion of crazy fangirls *must resisst inner Zuko fangirl*)

ok here's what i think about the episode, and all the gaps it left for debate

    1. Azula did not kill her mom or her grandfather. she what, like 9. even though she might be the spawn of satin i don't think she is capable of murder at that age

    2. its most likley that ozi killed his father, so he could take the thrown. he has the best motive

    3. i think zuko's mom ran away, not take zuko's place or whatever. most likey because she knew about the assisination, and didn't want to take part in it.

...other than that...did any1 see the preview for next weeks epi. i hope i just missed it, cuz i don't know what i'll do if i can't watch avatar next week

Zuko's mom killed Azulon so he wouldn't kill Zuko. Then she ran away. Remember she said "Everything I've done, I've done to protect you."

If the Fire Lord Azulong had died the night before, why would the Ozai have to kill his wife the next morning? (Azulong's wishes were that Ozai succeed him, probably if he killed his son.) And how did Ozai substitute his wife for his son? Remember he hasn't displayed much love for his son in the past. He'd more likely kill his son over his Wife, to ensure Azula gets the throne after himself. With Zuko alive, to speak not all is ready. Most likely Zuko's mom kills Azulong to make sure the only (highest if there are more)??son there succeeds, and to protect Zuko. Zuko's mom I strongly believe ran away, and I'm just going to state what I believe... you don't have to believe what I have said. (sorry if it seems like I've come on strong)

It's not a great quote is simple fact. What kind of fight is Zuko's mother portraying by running away. She knows too much apparently. Enough to get herself killed n e way. I don't believe Azula killed her grandfather on the fact that her father would know almost immediately who did it when he would be involved in planning the murder somehow as how as in execution. The only speculation I have to offfer is at the time of Ozai's father's death, did Ursla see this happen to force her to run away.

I blame the parents parenting for Azula's personality. I can honestly say no one will argue with me on that issue. And don't try just trust me.

How did Ozai get the throne then? He still wasn't 1st in line. There is??a contraversy behind this. And why would She run away? It makes no sense to simply run away and that's it, even if she didn't want to take part of it, I doubt she would leave her children alone. Why would the dad be sad. If he was that motivated to kill his own father why woudl he look sad once he knows he gained the throne. And then there is Azula mocking zuko for not having mom around.
