Anyways, Amon is Jet, I believe. Jet's parents/family were both killed the same way Amon described (I think!?) and it was unclear whether Jet was good or bad, due to being brainwashed as well as dying (revealed in the episode when Team Avatar goes to watch a play about themselves).
    Jet died though

It's unclear whether Jet died or not. It states this in Avatar: The Last Airbender > Season 3: Fire > Episode 17: The Ember Island Players.

Actually, I don't think all that "fancy glow stuff" HAS to happen. I think the writers/animators were just showing the physics of HOW it works, in the A:TLA finale.

    1. the spoilers you guys posted are NOT spoilers at all lol. i really doubt they would let us in on THAT much so early in the series and the commercials tell us those things anyway lol.

    2. only the avatar can energy bend and only if s/he has an unbendable spirit. this is a confirmed fact.

    3. there is a 99% chance jet is dead. even if he were alive he would be well into his late 80s or early 90s and bumi is the only one we know who lived longer than that and was still kicking. im inclined to believe part of the reason was because bumi was a bender.

    4. assuming that amon is azulas descendant isnt far off could be a legit theory. im sure azula was a socio/psychopath and since its in the genes, he probably inherted that from her on top of being raised by her. it would only make sense that a child of azula would behave that way.

i mean just because everything was at "peace" doesnt mean there were no scars. im pretty sure well find out alot about amon towards the end of the series like with ozai. in the meantime well probably see tidbits of his personality throughout the series until then.

making him a waterbender would be an interesting twist as well. waterbenders have the potential to be extremely dangerous especially because of bloodbending. imagine being able to freeze someones bloods or extract all the liquids out their body?

and if a waterbender was powerful enough, who knows maybe they could learn how to breathe underwater. benders can use any part of their body to bend after all. bumi used hismustacheand katara used her nose. heck, as far as we know they might be able to bend with their eyes at this point lol. and instead of "chi blocking" maybe hes using waterbending to disable the organs that make bending possible.

so yea thats my 2 cents.

Am I the only one starting to sympathy with Amon's cause after discussing and thinking about it for these last few weeks?

I am not saying that I agree with his methods, but as a pacifistic arms industry-critical socialist, I have a hard time not understanding him. If parts of the population was born with guns attached to their arms, and this part of the people was controling the civil government, the military, the police force and the organized crime, wouldn't I jump at the oppurtunity to remove this destructive power.

Bending is (with few exceptions) purely a destructive force, and like the right to bear arms in our world, it is a relic of the past. An equal society can only come when everyone is born equal, and that will never happen if the benders of the world continue to be a supperior class in society. Like our world's nobility, they will fall for the slogan Liberty, Equality, Fraternity!

Amon is an extremist, but he is only the violent tip of a large ice berg. The equalists are here to stay, benders are not.

Why do I think Amon is some sort of Bender himself? I am not sure if the his powers are real since there was no massive light show when he did it to that gangster guy, but if it is true then AMon must have studied one of the other bending discipline himself. I am thinking Amon is related to Zuko or rather he is Azula's grandchild

Assuming that bending is like a gun is wrong since bending has other practical uses. I also agree with Amon but I think grouping all the benders together as oppressors is kinda discriminative

Not a reliable source, since it can be edited by anyone. However, I did research of my own and I stand corrected.

I sympathize with him as well. But I wouldn't want to join the Equalists if I were a nonbender since they want to oppress benders rather than earn equal rights as them.

All right, I think I can place some puzzles pieces together.

AMON was certainly or not a all a son of Yukone, who was a man who threatened Republic City forty-two years before Avatar Korra's arrival.

The flashbacks that Korra had, were about Aang, Soka and Toph. I do believe that Aang has to remove Yukone's power permanently to protect republic city and that could explain why AMON wanted to learn that energybending process. It could explain as well, why Yukone was powerless agaisnt that '' firebender '' he faced back at the time.

My other theory is that Firebender was in fact an extremist, Aang needed to take his bending away and stop him. But, he was too late, that firebender takes AMON's father life already. AMON wanted revenge and watching Aang taking his power away, wasnt enough.

One thing I would to point out is that wasn't Aang who stopped Fire Lord Ozai from controlling the world by fire? Where would the non benders be if Aang hadn't?

On the flipside the war only started because of Benders. I don't agree with Amon at all. You take bending away people would have just used weapons to start wars. It is human nature he is against, the art of bending is a noble practice. Humans only corrupted it by using it for war, just like they did with swords, spears, and other weapons. Amon's words have truth it applies to human nature in general.

The moment I saw Amon could take away bending/enerbgy bending I knew Aang's refusal to kill Ozai and taking his bending away had come back to haunt him or rather his reincarnations. After watching this episode it seems like the idiot who thought he could cause trouble in Republic City home of the Avatar was stopped by having his bending taking away andhe is related to Amon. I am going to assume Aang refused to kill and took another threat to the peace's bending away that this guy learned it and taught it to his sn Amon. It makes sense. In the first series the 4 Avatars before Aang explained how they all made mistakes that unfortunately affected their later incarnations. Nautrally Aang's refusal to kill an enemy could come back to bite him on the ass. Amon is probably his Sozin so to speak.

People seems to forget, it's a new universe and new threat energes. The thing is that, somehow energybending could have been a result to anyone wanting to control non-bender. I guess, the creation of gangs ruling the streets and corruption among the cities, is a result of Aang's death. Just like Roku or any avatar before, Aang makes a mistake trying to instaure a way to protect everyone, but he seems to have failed. Now that I think about it, maybe Aang uses his knowledge to teach AMON himself. But, Aang was hoping that he could use that knowledge in a good way. After seeing what happened to his father, maybe AMON tricked Aang and uses that power to revenge instead of instaure a justice. That could be another theory.

You mean Torrlak, the task force ? Yes, it's been said, but, I think is trying to seize more power by having that little war. It could be a plot just like star wars with palpatine, but I think Torrlak is more on the good side, than Amon can be. They are played also by 2 differents voice actors.
