I recently watched the last episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender and for one to take a benders bending away permanently, all that fancy glowy stuff has to happen. Refer to the last couple of minutes to the final episode of the previous series. Anyways, Amon is Jet, I believe. Jet's parents/family were both killed the same way Amon described (I think!?) and it was unclear whether Jet was good or bad, due to being brainwashed as well as dying (revealed in the episode when Team Avatar goes to watch a play about themselves). |

Yes, it was left up to us to assume that Jet died. Also, he would have to be probably close to 80, so that's kind of out of the question (and I know that Bumi was like 112, and still kickin') |
So I have read and reread several different topics in this forum and found that the mystery I and most people are mostly fascinated by in the new series is the question of who Amon is.
I have therefore summarized the gathered the questions and theories about Amon into a short questionnaire, hopefully allowing us to clarify our personal views on the subject and structuralize the unknowns about this new adversary. It is impossible to satisfy everyone's theory, but there should always be an option that suits your personal idea
I have found five major questions, all with four possible answers, and I have designed the questions so that one option and one option only should be correct by default. As more and more information is revealed, some of the questions will be answered, some new ones will be raised, and some will remain unanswered.
The questions are the following:
1. Who is Amon?
A. A character previously seen in Avatar: The Last Airbender.
B. The direct descendant of someone from the core group of ATLA.
C. The direct descendant of a minor character from ATLA.
D. Someone else.
2. What elements, if any, can Amon bend?
A. Fire.
B. Earth or several elements.
C. Water or Air.
D. None.
3. What technique does Amon use to take away others bending?
A. Spiritbending.
B. He stops their chi flow permanently.
C. He stops their chi flow, but it is not permanent.
D. Another technique.
4. Why is Amon hiding behind the mask?
A. His face is horribly scarred.
B. His face would reveal his identity to us, the viewers.
C. He is a famous person in the Avatar world.
D. He has another reason or none at all.
5. Why does Amon want to remove bending?
A. His family was murdered by firebenders.
B. He had a life changing event connected to firebending.
C. He had a life changing event connected to another form of bending.
D. He has some other reason.
My combined guess is DABCD. What is your?
I agree that Amon's face has not been burnt because he would use that to gain support. I believe that he is the descendent of someone important from the first series and can definitely bend . I welcome the idea of Sokka and Suki, but I am more inclined to throw the thought that he could be related to Azula. He has her genes of leading people and her immense karate skill as well her quest to become the supreme leader. I think he is getting rid of all the benders so that he can be the only bender and therefore the most powerful. That is such bs that he wants things to be equal. In summary, I think Amon is a bender, wears a mask to hide his recognizable face, the child of someone important (Azula), and wants to be the only bender left so that he can be the most powerful and rule the planet. Just my own thoughts and opinions.

So Nerdnot... you believed every word that Amon said, except for his chi blocking being permanent? Why? :/ |

Maybe Amon THINKS his technique is permanent. Maybe he either kills them or they runaway before he gets to see what happens to them. |
