Nickelodeon (ended 2008)
either the firelord killed her... or azula pulled a michael myers and killed her either way shes dead
The concensus thought is that??she's??dead...but here's what I think:
After Azula came to Zuko saying "Dad's going to kill you." Ursa questioned Azula and learned what happened after she left. Ursa rushes to Azulon, and pleads that Azulon doesn't banish Zuko(that's how Zuko would be sacrificed), but his decision was final. So, she saves her baby the only??way a mother can, she bites him back. She challenges Azulon to Agni Kai, if she wins, Zuko doesn't get banished and Ozai is to??suceed Azulon as??Fire Lord, but if she loses, she'd be banished instead of Zuko and Iroh would still be next in line. Azulon even despite being older is more powerful than Ursa, but the strain of the battle is too much for Azulon's aging heart. But,(this is key to my whole theory) Agni Kai's are by law non-lethal events. If the other combatant is killed in battle by the other(directly or indirectly in this case) the??"winner"??is banished.
Though I just rewatched the episode and I noticed that when she hugged Zuko, she heard footsteps, which promted her to leave...so I'll probably be reworkin my theory for this.
A popular theory at the time the episode aired was that Azulon was going to kill Zuko, and that Ursa killed him first to prevent it. She either fled to avoid punishment or willingly submitted to it.
This doesn't take Zuko's mantra of "Azula always lies" into account, though, as the whole "grandpa's going to kill you" thing came out of her evil little mouth.

"You must know the pain of losing your first son, by sacrificing your own" that's something that I don't see a lil girl making up all on her own(even if it is Azula)...I'm thinkin'??she heard this and probably nothin' else??afterwards cuz she rushed off just to taunt Zuko...and made up the whole "Dad's going to kill you" bit...and then when Ursa took Azula away for Azula told Ursa what she heard..and then the rest of my theory comes into play that I mentioned earlier...
Let stop with the theories and postulate what would be the results of
1. Zuko mon is dead: How she died, hopefull we will find out.
2. Zuko mom is alive: Why, again we hope we will find out, but if she is alive why hasn't zuko search for her, does zuko think she is died?

My theory is that Ursa fatally wounded Azulon only to be caught by her husband. He either killed her or banished her, and Azulon, seeing how Ozai would harm someone he truly cared about, named him heir. That's just me. |
That's pretty similar to my theory...not bad

Like others have said, I think the most likely thing that happened to her was that the mom sacrificed herself to that Zuko wouldnt die "Everything Ive done up to now is for you" (or something similar). Also that the first born was to die. It seems motherly that she would sacrifice herself and its a better story writing if she did. |
Same episode - mother TurtleDuck ATTACKS when her young is put in danger...
Same episode - mother Ursa says "Everything I've done up to now is for you"...???? coincidence same episode?
Same episode - mother Ursa slinks off into the night covering her head... now does that look like somebody going off to the sacrifice or somebody with a mission?!?
Same episode - we NEVER hear Firelord Azulon state that the first born was to die... he simply says, "you should feel the same pain that Iroh now feels"?? and me personally thinks that Azulon knew that Ozai could care less for Zuko so I doubt that would have been the fitting punishment.?? Why??? Did you not see the face Ozai made when Zuko said he had been practicing his firebending as well, I believe that was a smirk??? Correct me if
