Here my problems with Ursa killing azulon, it does not feel right because Ozai had to have something to do with it, the guy is portrayed as pure evil and aiming for the throne, so just by luck his wife does the dirty work for him completely without his input? It has to be more complicated then just ursa felt zuko was threaten, kill azulon, runs away.

Exactly! Hence the Ozai killing his father and then being so cunning and evil blames it on his wife. Frames her somehow. So she tries to get out of there cuz she knows she's gonna be busted but he kills her too...then again news would get out that Azulon was killed by her instead of nothing being known....

AHHHHH!!!! Flaw in my theory! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

    lol.

They're both dead. Right now, they're sitting in heaven talking to Zhao about whether or not he's returning in season 3.

Yeah, how did he frame her, how was she protecting zuko, how did ozai get the will rewriten to get the throne. It leaves alot of questions.

i've got a problem w/ having a promblem w/ Ursa killing him. 1. why would ozai kill him then be sad the next day? Personaly I don't think he was sad his wife was gone. I'm gettin an aranged marrige vibe. 2. even if was going to kill azulon (which I still don't think happened) he could go about it 2 ways, kill him hiself(don't think so) or get someone ealse to do it for him. maybe Ursa asked him what happened in the throne room after hearing it from Azula and he may have put on a curly mustach and told her he'd make it go away if she killed Azulon and left the firenation forever. Also I do agree its more complicated than that. and Ursa killing him IS complicated. pretend for a sec your a mother (or father in case ur a guy) and someone would kill your kid who u love more than anything and u have 2 ways of going by it. 1 stand by and let it happen or 2 get him before he gets your kid. which would you choose?

You know what here's what I think!! I think Azulon killed Ursa because she wanted to save Zuko and Ozai killed Azulon because he killed his wife.

End of story. Ursa is DEAD! She's not hiding away drinking tea!! If she was don't you think she would have searched for Zuko considering he was banished from the Fire Nation and is wanted.!?!?!

She may not be in any position to search for Zuko...

From the show she feels more dead then just missing. How about this as to how she died?

When Ursa went to Azulon, Ozai had just willingly gave up his son to save his own hide, but she said spoke out something to the effect of 'her life for her son's'??and the Fire Lord took compassion on her, outraging Ozai, who then struck her down, killing her, and then killed his own father who would have probably denounced him right there, for killing someone, he himself had just spared.

Since one royal death is suspicious, two might not be overlooked. So he gave a funeral for his father, and made it look like his wife just left.

It's just an idea, but I mean come on, Ozai burned the face of his own son and banished him on a, at the time, pointless quest. He's capable of anything.

Just a speculation though. Remember those turtle ducks in that epi and what Ursa said at the time. Something like, "If you mess with their kids, their gonna bite you back". This kinda relates to Ursa and Zuko and the part where the duck bites Zuko might hint Ursa will do something destructive no? Something like kill Azulon? I see flaws but still the ducks HAD to mean something.

I think she killed azulon to protect zuko, and then dissapeared from the firenation!

Where do you people get that he was supposed to be banished?? I've watched that episode about three times and 'banished' doesn't come up...

they get the banished because if the mother was to suppose to have gone in Zuko's place, yet at the end of the episdoe it doesn't look like they killed her off, then Zuko wasn't to have been killed but banished.??

How about Ursa gets an out-of-body experience herself and realizes that she will...*DUN DUN DUUNNN* teach the Avatar firebending thereby shooting down any and all hints to Zuko/Iroh teaching Aang firebending! Ursa will be the ultimate in neutral Jing.

*cough* I digress. Banished-smanished. I agree with some that she wasn't banished and whoever it was that stated she looked like she was on a "mission". If she were banished, Ozai would have told the whole nation, just like he did when Zuko was banished and forbidden to go back home. All I'm certain of is that she'll come back in a big way since her abrupt goodbye. Maybe she can give Azula the whoopin' she deserves?

I say she shows up during the season finally!! Or around it. See, she meets with either the Gaang or Zuko and the whole episode is basically talking...And flashbacks!! We all love flashbacks!!

Like others have said, I think the most likely thing that happened to her was that the mom sacrificed herself to that Zuko wouldnt die "Everything Ive done up to now is for you" (or something similar). Also that the first born was to die. It seems motherly that she would sacrifice herself and its a better story writing if she did.

Same episode - mother TurtleDuck ATTACKS when her young is put in danger...

Same episode - mother Ursa says "Everything I've done up to now is for you"...???? coincidence same episode?

Same episode - mother Ursa slinks off into the night covering her head... now does that look like somebody going off to the sacrifice or somebody with a mission?!?

Same episode - we NEVER hear Firelord Azulon state that the first born was to die... he simply says, "you should feel the same pain that Iroh now feels"?? and me personally thinks that Azulon knew that Ozai could care less for Zuko so I doubt that would have been the fitting punishment.?? Why??? Did you not see the face Ozai made when Zuko said he had been practicing his firebending as well, I believe that was a smirk??? Correct me if

It wasn't a smirk, it was embarassment of his son.

It seems obvious that Ozai killed Azulon to get the throne, doesn't it? I mean Azulon is going to gove it to Iroh, no doubt, and then after he's dead the people say his final wish was that Ozai get it instead? I mean C'mon! And the fact that Ozai wanted it so badly makes it all add up. Then Ursa dissapears with a "everything I do, I do for you" statement and is gone. Then Azula says that nobody knows where she is. So somehow running away helped or maybe saved Zuko.

But how does running away help anybody? I assume it's because she is taking Zuko's punishment for him. Running away makes me think it was banishment.
