Iroh left Ba Sing Sei after his son died...it would take some time for news to travel back home in this world with its low technology, so he would be well away from it by the time that letter reached the Fire Nation capital...furthermore, he never had access to the city...that was the point. He was trying to crack it with a siege but failed. And why would she want to hide in a foreign city at war with her homeland?

Speaking of Iroh, it was weird and kinda scary to hear him make that joke about burning Ba Sing Sei to the ground...it seems out-of-character for him to make such a vicious jest, though that's appropriate, of course, as he was different back then.

Iroh?! No he wasn't. He was *supposed* to be Fire Lord, but he never was.

Well i don't know if it was that out of character, i mean he was at siege with the place, by order of the fire lord no doubt, and while he would probably not wanted to distroy the city, the fire lord might have focred him to. Either that or the living wreacking balls that is the fire nation army would have been hard to stop from distroying it.

This is just a theory that I made up, but it explains a lot to me.?? Yes, it would mean:

    - Zuko's mom is still alive and in hiding somewhere, perhaps hoping and waiting for her grown son to come find her so she can give him the scroll and explain the truth.?? If she??fled when he was still a kid and is really laying low, she might not even know about all that has happened since she left.??

    - No, I don't think that Zuko will become Fire lord before Aang defeats Ozai.?? However, I have always been bothered by how Zuko or Iroh would take over once Ozai was defeated.?? The Fire Nation is near victory now.?? Even if that changes dramatically and they get pummeled when Aang wins, why would they want the "Traitor Son" or "Traitor Uncle" ruling over them??? However, If Zuko had proof that Ozai tricked and cheated his way to the throne...

Most likely, after Aang defeats Ozai,??the Fire Nation will cease to exist and all that remains are the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, and Air Nomads.?? Yes, you read that right, I said AIR NOMADS!?? I feel that there are still Airbenders remaining.?? One of the characters in the Avatar TCG is an Airbender and it is rumored that the new characters introduced in the TCG will make appearences in the series; quite possibly even this season!

The Fire Nation will still exist. It will be in chaos for a while, but still exist. Plus either Iroh or Zuko will become FireLord and teach their country that peace is good. At least I hope so...

The fire nation can not be completely distroyed, that would wreck the balance again and the whole point of the avatar is to restore balance

yeah, that wouldn;t really work.?? That'd cut the world population down by about... 35, maybe 40%??? The FN seems pretty big, but medium compared to the EK.

If destroying the Fire Nation would wreck the balance and cut the population down exponentially, than the same would aply to the Airbenders being killed off by the Fire Nation.?? That would also wreck the balance and mess up population.?? If this is true, than the Airbenders may still be alive.

However, the Fire Nation doesn't always use common sense in their actions.?? Like when Zhao was going to kill the Moon Spirit to stop the Waterbenders, he didn't consider what it would do to everyone else.

Most likely, after Aang defeats Ozai, the Fire Nation will cease to exist and all that remains are the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, and Air Nomads. Yes, you read that right, I said AIR NOMADS! [/QUOTE]

*sigh* This has been settled already, must we go over it again?

The description from the TCG and elsewhere tells us that the new Airbender introduced in the TCG is Malu, the Ghost Witch; her parents were among the first casualties in the FN's attack on the Air Temples. Orphaned and alone, Malu sought refuge in a forest, living there as a hermit for much of her life. That was a nearly a hundred years ago, Malu is most likely dead but the town near her forest home turned her into a legend and tales of the Ghost Witch who haunts the woods nearby are still told there.

At best we'll see Malu in flashbacks or hear about her from a storyteller on the show. Her death is not confirmed but I doubt she lives. The creators didn't name the show "Avatar: The Last Airbender" for kicks, y'know.

Chin the Conquerer didn't murder 1/4 of the world and all he did was make the entire EK his entire army (or something like that; he was extending it throughout the continetnt).?? The FN, however, destroyed most (if not all) of the Airbenders, put the Water Tribes on the brink of extinction, and has just about taken out the Earth Kingdom (they have only one great stronghold left: Ba Sing Se).?? These are evidence that the Fire Nation will probably be destroyed at the end.

Like i said before the point of the Avatar is to restore balance to the four nations, no matter what the FN has done, distroying them won't bring back balance and in the long run it would to do more harm than good. I think Iroh said it best when he said "we need the balance"

If Zhao had succeeded in removing the moon, so to e-speak, it may have led to stronger firebenders, but they would be like candles burning both ends. They may have destroyed the other benders, but they would exhaust and extinct themselves in the process. (IMO, of course.)
