There's a summary here:
The avatar community suddenly erupted with activity, not even the movie did this!
Anyway I think the bad group will be Dai Li esque
I also think that waterbenders will be discriminated against, from what I hear their part of the city is like a ghetto
HIGHLIGHTS
-Katara is Tenzin's mother no surprise there
- The series will be more mature
-Republic City is based on Hong Kong circa the early 20th century
-They made Korra a girl because girls from the show are popular
Tenzin is going to piss off Zuturians
I think Republic City is on Kyoshi Island

Wow, this series is already shaping up beyond my expectations as I expected. A much more mature tone, elemental discrimination, anti-bending guerilla militias, Water Tribe ghettoz?? Toss in some heavy-duty urbanization of civilization, commercialism, materialism, government takeover, recreational bending drugs, some gun powder, and the good ole' 'last of a dying breed' mumbo jumbo and this series will have me hooked like a chronic jonesin' to get his fix. |
drugs=Cactus juice
gun powder= possibly, they went through an idustrial revolution remember?
last of a dying breed=possibly appa
Apperently, Aang died because of spending a lot of time in the ice berg, possibly meaning there is a time limit that the avatar spirit can be in a body.

When I said last of a dying breed, I mainly meant a possible decline of spiritualism in the Avatar World. Perhaps we will explore a time where people have grown past all the spiritual mumbo jumbo that the previous series helped cemented. Show contrast between the possible few who still lives their lives following the old ancients ways compared to the possible many who are keeping it up with the changing times. That sort of stuff.
Would be interesting to see what becomes of the sky bisons, though.

...I didn't mean write out the mythology entirely. They could still pull something like that out of their hat and continue to expand upon the mythology at the same time.

Thats y im hoping that if they make a new series is that they go into more detail with Azula's story and see her go through changes after the war, seeing that she has no friends now I hope they pair her up with some guy character to help her on her adventures and plans.

It's kind of the same for what happened in the Southern Water Tribe in ATLA. The benders were lost and therefore so was a culture.
The steam-punk technology could be overshadowing the past in which benders were generally respected and helped to reshape the world. I could see people as blaming them for the 100 Year War and claiming that they don't need them anymore because they have so many technological advances to work with.
well its true isn't it? benders are more of a convenience than anything else. they are always the ones causing wars since their the ones who gain political control (besides the earth king though he might of just not been born a bender like the rest of his family). i mean i wouldn't want them around either if their always the center of conflict. their powers are useful for landscaping and getting rid of polution but the cost is your rights and freedom because you have no way of fighting them.
