Ok, I have to say but one thing about this whole thing...

    WOOOHOOOO!!!

Now back to putting in something funny/interesting for you all to read. I read the question and answer with Bryke. What I really like about those guys are the way they answered the following:

What did you guys think of the live-action version of "The Last Airbender"?

Konietzko: We're just really focused on this new show right now, and kind of taking this off in its own direction and not concerning ourselves with that right now.

So you didn't follow the casting controversy about the movie version of "The Last Airbender"?

Konietzko: We didn't head up that film. We're just happy to be back generating the original content in this mythology, which is what we do.

    Say it with me all!

Mr. Shamalyandingdong not worth trying spell your name... You have just been thrown under the bus by the show's creators. You have been pawned. Cool Now you can go to India and do your Baliwood movies...

Bryke totally avoided answering those questions WHICH MEANS: They didn't like TLA exactly...(LOL)

well its true isn't it? benders are more of a convenience than anything else. they are always the ones causing wars since their the ones who gain political control (besides the earth king though he might of just not been born a bender like the rest of his family). i mean i wouldn't want them around either if their always the center of conflict. their powers are useful for landscaping and getting rid of polution but the cost is your rights and freedom because you have no way of fighting them.

your going to side with the nonbenders arent you?

no but i see where their coming from and i do think it'd be fair to let the people rule instead of jerks like azula ozai ect. you know a dewmocracy
the nomads were good rulers as are the earth kings it is only the fire nation

someone here hasn't watched avatar day or any of the season 2 eps for ba sing se :B

there are bound to be some bad officials, but not all of them are some are pretty competent

I'd say that some of the Earth Kingdom had bad rule. Look at all the conspiracies with the Dai Li, and of course the Fire Nation is obvious. But the Water Tribes weren't especially great either, more notably the Northern Water Tribe. They generally discriminated against women.
Though, I don't think that the people of Korra's time have enough information on the Air Nomads, and the people of Aang's time didn't either. Instead of the 100 years, it's now been 170 years since the downfall of an entire nation. But if the other 3 nations have their faults, it's safe to assume that the non-benders of Korra's time will think that the airbenders are just as bad.

but srsly would you want a ruler that can be overthrown by a bender very easily?

would you want a ruler who kills you on a whim by burning or burying you alive. also rulers have been overthrown by non benders ( zuko's mom hello) and by benders liek the dai li

ursa didnt overthrow the 90 year old man, she killed him because he wanted to kill her son

This is awesome news!!!!!!! There are a few things I wanna know though

    1. Is Tenzin also a Waterbender?

    2. Does he have any kids and if so are any of them Airbenders?

    3. When in 2011 will we see the show? Hopefully it's early 2011 like February.

Anyway, I also wanted to say that we could see almost all the main cast in the new series. I mean Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, Suki, Azula, all of them should be around their 80s with Toph being 82.

Another thing that makes me think this is that characters in the Avatar world seem to be long lived. I mean even among non-Avatars. Guru Pathik was 150 years old.

Also like the interview said, Aang burned up most of his life in the iceberg. I mean just because he didn't age doesn't mean he wasn't alive, plus another thing that could have contributed to his death is the fact that the whole time he was in the Iceberg, the Avatar spirit was active. He was basically in the Avatar State for 100 years which could have decreased his lifespan.

Then there's the fact that chronologically, Aang lived for around 166 years and isn't Avatar Kyoshi the longest lived Avatar at 260+ years? So maybe Aang would have lived a long life if not for being stuck in the Iceberg.

    1)airbender

    2)unknown

    3)possibly fall

Seems like a time in the Avatar World where things like that would be running rampant along with a rise in commercialism and expanding globalization.

you mean the order of the white lotus?

If they're willing to give the OWL that type of 'edge' to their character as a whole, but I would rather like to see a different organization in the role if they do decide to go somewhere along that route.

    why not OWL

The OWL seems incorruptible, they're all for the good of the people, and they seem to have a good working relationship with the Avatar. It would also make them seem a bit like how the Dai Li was to Kyoshi.

But seeing as how this series takes place 70 years after the original series, a lot could possibly change in that time. Perhaps Aang's death(and possibly the circumstances surrounding it) could somehow trigger something in the society where they begin to act as if they can keep the balance of the world without the consultation of the Avatar, which in turn, leads to further disaster down the road.

Plus based on the fact that most of the original members are dead, it may happen

On a side note, after 5 minutes of research, I found out past avatar genders

    Korra
    Aang
    Roku
    Kyoshi
    Kuruk
    YangChen
    Unnamed Male Fire Avatar
    Unnamed Male Earth Avatar
    Unnamed Female Water Avatar
    Unnamed Male Air Avatar
    Unnamed Female Fire Avatar
    Unnamed Male Earth Avatar
Based on this I can conclude Korra is the first female avatar in around 1000 years
And the fire avatar hasnt been a girl since 1200 years ago
assuming each avatar has an average life span of 100 years

There's 1000 years between Kyoshi and Korra? Roku must have been like 800 or something......

Roku couldn't have lived that long, because he died before Sozin did. My guess is that Roku lived for about 70 years, seeing as Sozin needed time to cripple the other nations before Azulan took over.

Then if you add Aang's 166 years, that's not more than 236 years between Korra and Kyoshi.

Aang and Gyatso were the best of friends in the mentor/student sense. The very same could be said of Zuko and Iroh, so it wouldn't be that odd to see an old person palling around with someone half their age.
