    Thanks, makes sense now

But I wonder... why drag that out? Eh?

And Aang goofs off, yup, but it's for minutes at a time, rather than a season's worth of episodes stuffed full of it.

To show their struggle? It wasn't dragged out that bad.

Naruto spends multiple episodes on a single fight, most of which is the characters standing around talking or staring or growling or spouting one liners at each other.

And as we already told you, the villain would strike by then (see Crossroads of Destiny) and if all that's required is hand signs, why bother shouting the name?

For the effect it creates. Anyway Aang was just floating in space an easy target. That doesn't happen in Naruto.

    Your confusing Naruto with DBz

Actually, they're pretty similar. Over-the top shouting, rediculous jumps and attacks, flashy explosion, come out unharmed until some ultra final attack or something that could've just as well been used at the beginning.

Because we can imagine what it might be, plus the fact that you really can't react in time to find a counter for the jutsu that's being shout, as when they say the name the pwnage begins.

Why would you use your ultimate move in the beginning when the opponent is at full strength and can dodge it easily. Also ultimate moves are usually the ones that cause harm to yourself so its best to avoid that if possible.

Avatar is just the opposite. They have a quick run in and Aang and his group manage to get away in the end. In Naruto fights SOMETHING happens at the end to forward the plot.

The fights are actually fights, quick, fast paced and messy...not soliloquies mixed with a little bit of action.

Not much happens to forward the plot in those small fights though. Anyway yes Naruto fights may be dramatized alot but its because they want to make the most of it because it will probably never happen again.

Strategically, doing the hand signs would give the opponent even LESS warning. Avatar moves have names, but they're not shouted every time they're used. Thankfully.
