Its normal for anyone to cry if someone you know as a best friend dies in your hands, but it??could be emotions of love or friendship for Katara.?? I just felt Aang and Katara had been through many situations and obstacles in the past, that Kataang just seem to be the rightful pairing.??

Obstacles? Not really, but I do see where you're coming from. There might be more to it than just friendship, yep... that's what Kataang's about, right? Zutara has more chance than Taang, which tells a lot. Still, I like them both... maybe I'm just weird, but Toph and Aang are the only 12 year olds in the show, they're both extremely powerful and what not, so I'd just kinda like to see them together. |

Two year gap age relationships??are fair and not wrong.?? The minumum age-gap should be about 3-4 years between two people.

It makes sense that Toph doesn't need to be pair up with anyone because of her independence.?? However, Toph may need someone in her life, because she hasn't enjoy life that much with her family.?? Eventually, she probably is going to go back when their adventure is over.

I don't care what happens as far as couples go as long as the cannon pairings are done well and make sense. Which brings me to the age issue. Two or three years between people is nothing in some situations...this is true. But, I think the opposition to Kataang (when based largely on age) is because of the age ratio. 34:36 is not the same as 12:14. A relationship between Aang and Katara has been hinted at, but I don't see it as becoming cannon within the story arc for this show. Years later it would definitely be plausible. But, I have never seen a 14 year old (that's like a freshman in high school) date a 6th or 7th grader (my sister is 12 and she's in 6th grade). It's just weird. For this reason, I feel like the end of the show will end with no Kataang, possibly a Zuko/ Katara friendship if Zuko ends up helping the avatar in the end. And as for a Zuko/Katara romance in said situation--I just can't be sure. If he does end up legitimately helping them, then yes. But at the same time, maybe not. |

You are using the inherently flawed argument of "our accepted norm also applies to the Avatarworld", which just isn't true. People grow up much faster when they're living in a medieval world which has been in a world war for a century than they would in our world. That's why children in Avatar are more mature than children in our world, which makes them able to look past norms and traditions. They don't childishly judge someone on age and hight, but on their characters, just like they should. Besides, neither Aang nor Katara have had much of a choice in their lovelives so far, so I doubt they really mind the age gap between them. So Katara is a little taller than Aang. Big deal. I'm glad the creators don't seem to bind themselves to modern-day norms and taboos. If they want to pair up a younger boy with an older girl, then I applaud them. Finally something a little different than the usual, clich??d?? "younger, weaker girl/older, stronger boy" relationships. |
Good point, Argos.?? I never mention that??times in society are different in the Avatar world than our real world, so the age gap wouldn't really matter that much.??

Fair and valid point, then again Argos87 made a good point about??kids being older and mature in the Avatar world than our world.?? So the age gap or maturity differences??between Aang and Katara wouldn't matter that much.?? Personally??during Season 2, Aang's not only working on his training but he is starting to grow-up??and becoming mature.????

You're trying to substantiate the age problem, but it's just not doing it for me. It's a made up world and not our own, sure. It doesn't change the fact that it's weird for some viewers. 14 year old girl with a 12 year old boy. I don't think many viewers can relate to that. Give them a few years. |
