Seriously, I haven't seen a person who doesn't like her in a while, maybe it wouldn't be bad to have one around, for variety.

Well, I don't particularly dislike Toph, but I'm not a real fan of her either. Of all the main characters (read: MAIN characters), I probably like her least of all. She's still an awesome bender though.
They need to take her leash off and let her kick some real @$$. She never fights anyone for real.

They can't, for the world will end on that day. Toph will break the earth in half.
    She could.

Kataang is the rightful pairing for the show. Aang and Katara have been great friends and their relationship has been building. Love relationships usually work well between two people this way. Also, Aang nearly broke the message to Katara that he loves her before Sokka interrupts. Seeing Katara cry in the season finale really details her emotions towards Aang. In my mind, they belong together.

Besides the fact that I don't really like the last sentence in that post (because I just don't believe in "belonging together") I do agree that Kataang will be the pairing of the show. Hell, it already is, and they're not even together. But, Katara's tears are pretty normal - I mean, wouldn't you cry if your best friend died in your arms? It is possible that they will be more than friends though, just stating that she'd cry either way.

Its normal for anyone to cry if someone you know as a best friend dies in your hands, but it??could be emotions of love or friendship for Katara.?? I just felt Aang and Katara had been through many situations and obstacles in the past, that Kataang just seem to be the rightful pairing.??

I just can't get past the whole "he's twelve years old" thing. She's a young woman, he's still a boy. They need to flash forward several years for me to not feel "ew" when I see them together

Obstacles? Not really, but I do see where you're coming from. There might be more to it than just friendship, yep... that's what Kataang's about, right?
Zutara has more chance than Taang, which tells a lot. Still, I like them both... maybe I'm just weird, but Toph and Aang are the only 12 year olds in the show, they're both extremely powerful and what not, so I'd just kinda like to see them together.

Same, I can totally see Toph getting a crush on aang and him being very flattered by it...round about the time katara tells him she thinks of him as just a friend which comes right after he tells her he loves her. Bahaha

I hate Tophxanyone. It just doesn't seem like her, she's independent, and I like her the way she is. No need for blushing and akward situations. I wouldn't be crushed if Toph and Aang got together though, it's better that Tokka.

Two year gap age relationships??are fair and not wrong.?? The minumum age-gap should be about 3-4 years between two people.

It makes sense that Toph doesn't need to be pair up with anyone because of her independence.?? However, Toph may need someone in her life, because she hasn't enjoy life that much with her family.?? Eventually, she probably is going to go back when their adventure is over.

Sorry, not at that age when the guy is younger. There is a world of difference between a 24 year old woman being with a 22 year old man and a 14 year old girl with a 12 year old boy.

That's why I'm saying they need some time for me to not get all creepified. The older people get, the more appropriate a large age gap becomes. I work with a guy whose wife is 5 years older than him, but they got married when he was like 40.

I don't care what happens as far as couples go as long as the cannon pairings are done well and make sense.
Which brings me to the age issue. Two or three years between people is nothing in some situations...this is true. But, I think the opposition to Kataang (when based largely on age) is because of the age ratio. 34:36 is not the same as 12:14. A relationship between Aang and Katara has been hinted at, but I don't see it as becoming cannon within the story arc for this show. Years later it would definitely be plausible. But, I have never seen a 14 year old (that's like a freshman in high school) date a 6th or 7th grader (my sister is 12 and she's in 6th grade). It's just weird.
For this reason, I feel like the end of the show will end with no Kataang, possibly a Zuko/ Katara friendship if Zuko ends up helping the avatar in the end. And as for a Zuko/Katara romance in said situation--I just can't be sure. If he does end up legitimately helping them, then yes. But at the same time, maybe not.

You are using the inherently flawed argument of "our accepted norm also applies to the Avatarworld", which just isn't true. People grow up much faster when they're living in a medieval world which has been in a world war for a century than they would in our world. That's why children in Avatar are more mature than children in our world, which makes them able to look past norms and traditions. They don't childishly judge someone on age and hight, but on their characters, just like they should.

Besides, neither Aang nor Katara have had much of a choice in their lovelives so far, so I doubt they really mind the age gap between them. So Katara is a little taller than Aang. Big deal.

I'm glad the creators don't seem to bind themselves to modern-day norms and taboos. If they want to pair up a younger boy with an older girl, then I applaud them. Finally something a little different than the usual, clich??d?? "younger, weaker girl/older, stronger boy" relationships.

Good point, Argos.?? I never mention that??times in society are different in the Avatar world than our real world, so the age gap wouldn't really matter that much.??

I would like Aang to become more mature and responsible in season 3. But they better do a good job with it, and not make him do a personality backflip. Like they did with Katara through season 1. We wont have to worry, I hope.

You're trying to substantiate the age problem, but it's just not doing it for me. It's a made up world and not our own, sure. It doesn't change the fact that it's weird for some viewers. 14 year old girl with a 12 year old boy. I don't think many viewers can relate to that. Give them a few years.

I agree some people can't relate to a 14 year old girl dating a 12 year old guy, but I totally agree with Anime-Destiny1 and argos_87. What I think is really funny, is that people can't wrap their heads around that relationship, but it's perfectly dandy that a 12 year old is running around the world taking care of himself and fighting in a war. Can kids today relate to that? Or...is it just a concept we're used to seeing and are comfortable with, while a 12 and 14 year old hasn't really been done before so it's still weird? By the way, this is one of the most intelligent and respectful debates, you guys are awesome. I don't care if the thread's a duplicate.

I'm not against younger man/older woman type of relationship, but not at their age; trust me, while it is the personality that matters, Katara and Aang would probably have a better, more natural relationship if they get together later on.
According to math, 12:14 is proportionally the same as 6:7. To tell you the truth, I found that math can be right even in completely spontaneous, real life events. So let's take a look at it.
At 7, it doesn't really matter, you're both kids; at 14, you're already well on the path of becoming a young woman, while a 12 years old boy is still a kid. No matter how mature he acts sometimes, Aang is very goofy *like any healthy boy SHOULD be*. But at some point in life, both of them will be equally mature and have a built personality. And that's the point where the last "omg he's younger than her" scream would die down. And that's Not Now.
Point is, give them a few years, and I'm just fine with it. Now, well, it would still be okay, but I'll like it less.

Well, actually Aang is 112 years old, he just has the body of a twelve year old. Also, I dont think the creators are going to end it with either of them because their afraid that if they end it with Kataang/Zutara then they will have all the Kataang/Zutara shippers out in front of their houses with torches and pitchforks. lol
