see that's your opinion, to me, Zuko is uninteresting, and i for one, am happy that i cannot relate to him 0_o. Aang is by far a better character than Zuko. Him being the Avatar, having the weight of the world on his shoulders, continuing having to fight against the likes of Azula, Zuko, and the rest of the firenation, his whole race being destroyed, and yet he still has a smile on his face day in and day out.

    Aang's just awesome like that

Just because Zuko is "OMG hawt!" and has thousands of fangirls fawning over him doesn't generally make him a better character. The fact he seems to be the fandom's favorite isn't because he is a better, deeper or more complex character, but simply because he's 16 rather than 12 and has a well-trained body. If Aang were 16 and Zuko were 12, I'm willing to bet Aang would have been the fandom's favorite.

In fact, I think it's much easier to relate to Aang than it is to Zuko. Aang has suffered just as much as Zuko, perhaps even more, but unlike Zuko, Aang doesn't grow all bitter and knows to move on. Which greatly makes me emphasize with him. If he's able to deal with the genocide of his people in such a good way, then I'm bound to respect him more than Zuko, who's been complaining about his destiny for two seasons now.

That doesn't say I enjoy seeing Aang far more than I enjoy seeing Zuko though. Zuko is a wonderfully flawed, even weak character and I love him very much for it. I just disagree with the notion that he's more complex or a better character just because he happens to have a well-trained body.

I don't care who I can relate to, I just like to objectively decide which one of them makes the more *interesting* character to watch. I decided I like them both. But what does that have to do with Kataang or Zutara? Someone please explain it to me. Katara is in no way a trophy girl. So the rule "the best one gets the girl" won't work here... then why are we discussing this?

Anyway, since we started: The age theory is just ridiculous. We can see that Aang's personality is pretty much built already, even though he's not even a teenager yet, and I still say that both of them are equal in my eyes - I don't oogle cartoon characters either way (though the ponytail rocked.). We can't relate to either of them completely (unless, of course, your people have been destroyed, or you have a family full of psycho's who want to kill you) but we can still see which one we like the best. I, myself, couldn't decide, so Iroh and Sokka own my "Fav Avatar character" now.

Well, I guess that some people do see him the way you described (and I'm weirded out by them). I agree with you on some of this, though. I love it how they made an ultimately non-perfect character have a story that's both enjoyable to watch and bears depth with it.
The reason why I like Zuko's character is that he's maybe the most multidimensional part of the show. So sue me. I used to label myself as a "Zuko fangirl". Then I went and saw what Zuko's fangirls really looked like, and went away scarred for life (no pun intended). Seriously. He's one of my favorite cartoon characters ever - on my top ten list at the very least - but I wouldn't go as far as flaming Aang and having a poster of a shirtless Zuko in my room.
    It's just... weird.

I wouldn't put all the zuko fans in the same boat with the stalker club haha. No offense to the stalker club of course...*looks over shoulder*

He has depth and offers something that the gaang doesn't. Look at it from this perspective. I'm like 99.99999% postive that by the end of this series aang will have made things right and brought balance to the world. Katara, sokka, toph, momo, and appa will all still be alive and will have helped him all the way. The flowers will bloom and the bunny rabbits will be making more bunny rabbits in the forest and peach cobbler will rain down from the sky. What I DON'T know is what is going to happen to Prince Zuko. THAT is the main source of intrigue in this storyline for me.

I want to say something witty and sarcastic, but I'm too miffed that EVERYONE IS STEALING MY ICON!!! WHAT THE HELL? I say... neither. Katara hates Zuko, and Aang can't do it. Why do we need shipping to have a good Avatar experiance? *sees cannons on Zutara and Kataang battleSHIPS aiming at my head* *gulp* Hi, how's- BYE! *flees*

Well, at first, I thought like you, too. Then I went all "Oh, what the hell, it doesn't cost me anything, and it gives me analyzing practice."
I do agree that Avatar is an awesome show even without shippings. @FM; yep, Zuko's mysterious alright. I think he might die. Or become a firelord. Choose either.
But as usual, every Zuko theory will prove wrong - Every.single.one. And yes, everyone has that avatar... O.o I thought maybe it was a TV.com template; seems like it isn't. Well, you can't be surprised can you? Toph is way too popular for her own good.

The thing is, I called it before we could use these new icons and I got it first. Meh, at least Toph is gettin the respect that wasn't there when she showed up in the Blind Bandit.

    "The Toph"... PWN.

Seriously, I haven't seen a person who doesn't like her in a while, maybe it wouldn't be bad to have one around, for variety.

I meant when she debuted(sp?) in the Blind Bandit, nearly everyone hated her.

I stated this earlier, under the Official Character Relationship Discussion Topic 2 Thread:

Kataang is the rightful pairing for the show.?? Aang and Katara??have been??great friends and their relationship has been building.?? Love relationships usually work well??between??two people this way.?? Also, Aang nearly broke the message to Katara that he loves her before Sokka interrupts.?? Seeing Katara cry in the season finale really details her emotions towards Aang.?? In my mind, they belong together.

Why do we need shipping to have a good Avatar experiance? To get people like me to watch? I'm a dork and proud of it. I need a little romantic pairings in a show. In fact that's why I started watching Avatar. It was Avatar Day and the prisoners were giving Aang advice and I was like Ohh!! Who does he like?!? Because the day earlier I watched the Blind Bandit and I was confused. Gotta love that drama!

*sees cannons on Zutara and Kataang battleSHIPS aiming at my head* *gulp* Hi, how's- BYE! *flees*[/QUOTE]

Not that kind of drama though. That's scary. Just cartooney drama. That's fun!

Besides the fact that I don't really like the last sentence in that post (because I just don't believe in "belonging together") I do agree that Kataang will be the pairing of the show. Hell, it already is, and they're not even together. But, Katara's tears are pretty normal - I mean, wouldn't you cry if your best friend died in your arms? It is possible that they will be more than friends though, just stating that she'd cry either way.

Well, I don't particularly dislike Toph, but I'm not a real fan of her either. Of all the main characters (read: MAIN characters), I probably like her least of all. She's still an awesome bender though.
