I don't care who I can relate to, I just like to objectively decide which one of them makes the more *interesting* character to watch. I decided I like them both. But what does that have to do with Kataang or Zutara? Someone please explain it to me. Katara is in no way a trophy girl. So the rule "the best one gets the girl" won't work here... then why are we discussing this?
Anyway, since we started: The age theory is just ridiculous. We can see that Aang's personality is pretty much built already, even though he's not even a teenager yet, and I still say that both of them are equal in my eyes - I don't oogle cartoon characters either way (though the ponytail rocked.
). We
can't relate to either of them completely (unless, of course, your people have been destroyed, or you have a family full of psycho's who want to kill you) but we can still see which one we like the best. I, myself, couldn't decide, so Iroh and Sokka own my "Fav Avatar character" now.

I just disagree with the notion that he's more complex or a better character just because he happens to have a well-trained body. |
Well, I guess that some people do see him the way you described (and I'm weirded out by them). I agree with you on some of this, though. I love it how they made an ultimately non-perfect character have a story that's both enjoyable to watch and bears depth with it.
The reason why I like Zuko's character is that he's maybe the most multidimensional part of the show. So sue me. I used to label myself as a "Zuko fangirl". Then I went and saw what Zuko's fangirls really looked like, and went away scarred for life (no pun intended). Seriously. He's one of my favorite cartoon characters ever - on my top ten list at the very least - but I wouldn't go as far as flaming Aang and having a poster of a shirtless Zuko in my room.
It's just... weird.
