i also see zuko as more mature, and yes, it's because of the age. Evidence? how many women date guys younger than them? How many women WON'T date a guy younger than them based purely off of age and nothing else? How many women WON'T date a guy shorter than them based purely off of height? Again though, trying to catagorize or understand female attraction will only lead you to madness (in my humble opinion ladies). Best accept it for what it is.

So let me get this straight, you're basing maturity on numerals? And on what women generally feel attracted to? I doubt that will give you an accurate portrayal of someone's maturity. I know plenty of 40-year olds who still behave like little brats.
    Yeah, re-reading what i wrote...

Yes, I judge maturity on age.?? On average, do people mature as they get older.?? The point was that in an arguement of who would katara see as more mature I pointed to the fact that women almost always date older men.?? This is also based off my time as a bartender and the many women who expressed the same mindset, that they just feel awkward dating a younger guy.?? This is also based off the idea that as you get older you get wiser and more mature.?? Are there exceptions yes, but I thought the point was who would a young girl see as more mature??? A pre-pubescent boy or a 17 year old prince, both of whom portray near equal levels of maturity if we discuss their actions and choices, which I address below.?? Ever tried to tell a girl that some guy she has a crush on is not good for her with a logical argument??? Did it work??? uh huh...

    argos_87 wrote:
My opinion on the maturity thing: both still have signs of immaturity. But it is undeniable that Zuko's maturity level is far below par. His obsessiveness, narrowmindedness and his general uncoordinated and impulsive way of thinking and acting does make him the least mature main character of the show. Aang still acts like a little brat now and again, he gets pissed, can be rather naive, but he's also helpfull, altruistic, self-sacrificing and thoughtful. All signs of mental maturity. So I guess that does put Aang a level higher than Zuko.

zuko has also??shown signs of helpfulness, altruistism, self-sacrifice, and thoughtfulness.?? defending the lives of his countrymen in front of a council of elders who were going to use them as cannon fodder.?? helping an earth kingdom village with??little concern to his own need to keep his identity hidden.?? seeing the pain caused by his nation and feeling sorry for it.?? Actually apologizing to katara for her loss and empathizing with her in that loss.??

I don't see zuko as a whiny, spoiled prince.?? He's had a pretty crappy life all things considered, and he's making the best of it.?? There are few 17 year olds who would not crumble under the weight he's had to carry, not to mention he was even younger than that when he was first banished.

Oh I'm not saying Zuko is inherently a bad guy, he does have a good side in him and he has done good things. But the selfish, egocentrical has so far dominated the helpfull, altruistic side of him. Aang is a little the other way around, he does have flaws and acts immaturely at times, but all of the good he's done overshadows these bad things.

And I'm not judging Zuko on his maturity. I love Zuko, I just love him differently than most others. I love him for his flaws, his stubborness and his unwillingness to let go of who he is. I don't want him to magically heal at some point in the story, I want him to remain flawed and eventually find out on his own that what he's doing is not right. He has to learn through experience, not through some magic water which could supposedly heal his scar, the very thing representing his character. That's why I'm kinda glad he's no longer on Iroh's team, since Iroh just was too fatherly to him. He can't stay dependant on other people to bail him out of situations he himself caused all the time.

We don't bit-h!?? We prove our superior brain power! If it's a war you want... so help me god, a war you shall have!
    *brings down the drama*
Okay, now seriously. I won't discuss the matter of immaturity, I hold it unimportant to the subject matter. Katara is an understanding girl, I don't think she'd mind immaturity much, no matter who she choses. But, my take on this is pretty much the same as fatsomama's - so I don't want to repeat what's been said.

Anyway! I have to ask you guys a favor. I'm still fairly new to the fandom, and I'd truly appreciate if someone could give me the link to the most famous Kataang and Zutara LiveJournal communities... could you, please? I have an idea forming, I'd like to make something of it... besides, overanalyzing will probably be my job, so what the heck.

What shall we discuss next? Body language?

ok I haven't seen the following posted in anyone else's opinions yet. And I apologize in advance if the way I put this sounds slightly offensive, but I have to say this...

Katara is mature, we have seen it before. And I mean in a physical sense, the girl has most definately gone through puberty. She is (according to nick and wikipedia) the same age as Ty Lee and Azula. All these girls have boobs, curvy hips, whatever. You get the idea.
Aang is a pre-pubenscent 12 year old. He wouldn't know how to handle a girl in a romantic relationship (and I mean like kissing and...other stuff) because he is a little boy. Yes, he has matured in an emotional sense througout the show, this is very important to his character and progression of the plot. But that doesn't change the fact that he is a 12 year-old boy. Sure he can give Katara a peck on the cheek, but since when do older girls like Katara (or Azula or Ty Lee) become involved in a serious relationship with a pre-pubescent 12 year old?

And omg, I am totally over-analyzing a cartoon right now. But whatever, it helps me procrastinate--I really dont want to do my homework right now.

Well....that pre-pubenscent 12 year old boy doesn't run away from kisses like??a certain (lol, "mature")16 year old boy does.

The way it looks, Aang seems like he can "handle"(seriously dude this a kid show)??Katara just fine. Zuko(the 16 year old).......is a different story

    :

on the other hand (kataang) it's like a 24 year old going out with a 26 year old.that's better
