    imo, Tokka's cute as long as it stays a Toph-sided thing only. (When I first saw Serpent'S Pass I was all, "Awwww! Tokka rox!" but after a few seconds I realized it would be REEEEEALLY weird. I doubt a 15yr-old would go out w/ a 12yr-old. gross)
    I'm gunna pull a total over-analyzing-obsessive-fangirl-searching-for-theories-to-support-my-ship and say that maybe the writers are creating a parallel between Aang and Toph and their first crushes. You know, their both liking someone who is older than them and doesn't nessicarily have romantic feelings towards them, but is still their friend and they have a good connection with. which could mean if for some reason it were to become apparent that Katara (*coughzutaraplzthnxcough*) and Sokka (*coughgeorgeplzthnxcough*) were definitely not going to end up with Aang and Toph, Taang would be a distinct possibility *hinthint!* idk, i'm probably looking at nothing, just thought I'd throw it out there and watch any carnage it causes! *pulls out banjo and plays it in celebration of how totally awesome Sokka's Master was, regardless of hair-brained shipping theories*??

    As was said, Sokka hasn't shown much beyond friendship towards Toph. Though, it is funny how she acts aloof after she also hugged him. And she squeals "Sokka's back!" It's interesting to not his response when Toph says that the others missed him, but she didn't really care. It was something like, "And that warms my heart." Which suggests he may be aware of at least her feelings of companionship. Like knowing that even when your friends are making fun of you most of the time, you know they are there for you when it counts. I also don't see the age difference as being a problem. Would you honestly look down on a high school senior and freshman dating? Because this is about what they would be in our society. You might even be able to argue that Sokka is a junior. It's kind of right there on the edge of being taboo and not. Those within the age range are more likely to accept it, while those that are older view it as obscene.

    I kind of see the Kataang thing as evolving. They've essentially worked past the initial stages of a relationship and evolved into more of a married couple. It's obvious Aang still finds her attractive because of his reaction when she first appeared in her Fire Nation disguise.

    Seniors do occasionally date freshmen. Juniors do, too.
    Look, I'm not saying Tokka's going to happen, but, if the evidence is there (which it is - one-sided, anyway) then there's nothing anyone can do to stop it from happening or not happening.
    And we never know with Avatar ships anymore. Maiko just exploded right before our very eyes. We knew Mai liked Zuko, but we didn't know how he felt about her, and all of a sudden, they kissed like it was the most normal thing in the world. Tokka has that same one-sided-ness that Maiko had, and look what happened to Maiko!

    Maybe. Kataang and Tokka wont happen at all, first because Katara and Sokka are older, and because they dont seem to feel really the same toward Aang and Toph. Sokka have already Suki (she's alive) and Katara ''could'' have Zuko. Here is my speculation : I think that Tokka and Kataang, wont happen at all, but instead, in the next book, Aang and Toph gonna be the main protagonists of the next season, with of course new mates in the group, Sokka will become a swordmaster in the southern tribe with Suki, and Katara ... well, I dont want to start a shipping wars, so...

    But, the age difference is more important when you're young that when you're old. There is no really difference when you're older, even if you have 5 years difference.

    If so high school girls are less shallow than I thought. He washot, just... wierd. In my school we love the wierd people. I'm wierd. Well more crazy.

    Nah. As already stated by another poster: age isn't always an issue (I'm dating a guy seven years older than me) and it happens all the time. Unless the person is 8 and the other half is like 18, that's never a good excuse in these cases. I will admit that Tokka is questionable because while we know for a fact that Toph likes Sokka, it's pretty obvious that the girl he's into is Suki and there has been absolutely NO hints from him that he likes her back.Unless they want to go for the entire he falls for Toph,Suki's not dead and now Sokka's confused on what to do thing. (Little overdramatic, let's hope they don't do that...)

    With Kataang, yes it's obvious that Aang like Katara but there have been hints, no matter how subtle,one tries to deny or ignore them, that she may like him back. (Prime example was the episode were he goes to the firenation school.) They've dropped so many hints about the ship that short of them just saying "Let's go out" it's pretty much more than set in motion and waiting for someone to crack a wine glass and send it sailing off into destiny.

    The difference between the two is while Tokka is completely one sided, Kataang has more of chance because while one side is obviously liking the other, it's been at least hinted at the second side might feel the say way. Kataang = Herion (Hermione/Ron, minus the 'main guy, main girl' cliche`.)

    If it even happens, then Tokka won'twork until Sokka knows what happened to Suki and, if she'sdead, has had the appropriate time to grieve for her. Imo, anyway.

    I do not beleive Tokka is gonna happen. But it's not simply the age difference but also the position of the genders. Kataang is acceptible because the male(Aang) is courting the older female(katara). If anything Aang would get respect for doing so(from his peers of course, not adults).

    But with Tokka the roles are reversed. The older male with the younger female. Sokka's peers would question why he is with her, when there are other females much closer to his age.

    I find the general rule of thumb is to take your age, divide by 2 and add 6. That is the minumim age you should be dating.

    ex age 18
    18/2 +6= 15

    ex age 22
    22/2 +6= 17

    ex age 15(sokka)
    15/2 +6= 13.5

    This works because at young ages when you should start dating 13-14, you should stick with people your own age, as there can be a lot differences between your friends and what kind of activities you can do.

    At older ages this goes away, and by 30
    30/2+6=21
    A man who can pull that off deserves a high five.

    Please, bringing a formula into a relationship is rediculous. I do agree that Tokka is one sided, but at the moment. I still ship it.

    No, its too a big difference, just take your last example, its near 10 years difference ! Its just too high. And I dont think about the fact that a boy or girl cant get an older lover. I believe that the situation you describe about Toph and Sokka is the same about Aang and Katara, and there are maybe less chances to happen with Kataang, because she is mother figure in the group. I think its less easier to get an older girl, that a younger girl.

    You'll notice I said that this is the minimum. You'll also notice that the 30 year old in question deserves some sort acknowledgement(applause, a trophy etc)for his deed.
