    actually i think that would be odd. Toph likes sokka *flashback* remember in the serpents pass, she kissed suki thinking it was sokka? *end flashback* and she blushed when she said she didnt care about him, but sokka doesnt show any feelings toward her.

    Well as an Toph supporter I have to say...Anything can happen, so I hope on whatever turns out good for Toph... The scene when she blush after claiming not to have missed him...So cute, one of my favourites

    So far, it's just a schoolgirl crush. It's not unheard of for young girls to crush on much older guys. Personally, I don't believe Sokka and Toph are too far apart in age to be unbelievable or unacceptable. I think it's just as likely for love to blossom as for Toph to simply grow out of it by the end. Maybe, when she sees something happen to Sokka, she'll realize what her true feelings are.

    i think its adorable. i dont think toph is old enough to have a relationship with sokka now. but in a few years when the age difference doesnt matter. itd be soooo cute when they go out. but for now, i think its just cute that toph may be expierencing her first crush. awww

    Interestingly, that could be it entirely. Toph has never had real friends, which also means she has never really had the chance to meet boys. I guess all of her social skills are a result of nobility education. It may be that Toph likes Sokka because he's a nice guy that treats her like a normal person and isn't really afraid to stand up to her. I'd have to watch the early episodes again, but I don't recall him ever seeing her as any less of a person for being blind. All the times he's reacted in ways that disregard her blindness, his "sorry" has felt to me to be more of an "oh, right, you're blind" than a "didn't mean to offend the blind girl" kind of thing. Humor-wise, they are fairly matched. And, it's not like he doesn't have a lot of personality traits that make him a great catch. It could even have been a point for him when he was willing to stand by their sides in "The Chase," even though he only had a sword.

    Toph seems more like the kind of person that would remain true to her crush, even if another prospect came on the scene. Likely, her initial response if she was conflicted would be to just talk to Sokka and clear the air. Though, I think that's one thing she would be berating herself about how un-earthbender like she was being when she couldn't find the guts to admit her feelings.

    Okay, I'm sorry, but that excuse is becoming a little too old. A three year age difference is nothing. Plus, Avatar is based off Asian influences and back in those times in Asia (or anywhere really) age didn't really matter.

Yeh it would probely be childrish and not mature dating (but that can still be romantic, though I understand what you mean), cause that might not be of such big intress (for them) at the time.     I have a friend that took a date to a small amusement park a few miles from us. It was more of an amusement mall with an arcade, bumper cards, and some other stuff. She thought it was fun being out like a teen again. They've been married for two years now.

    you're right, age gaps mean nothing in anime and manga. this is, however, a cartoon on nickelodeon. it may be inspired by asian cultures, but it still has a very western attitude. and the western attitude towards a fifteen year old guy becoming romantically involved with a twelve year old girl in any way is very much taboo.
