Okay.?? I jsut read yoru reply.?? And to answer your questions or really respond to what you wrote, in The Chase, Katara is NOT selfish.?? I've dealt wit ha lot of people like Toph, in taht, they don't want to do theri share.?? I've even been on the other side of that fence.?? I can understand what Katara is coimng from.?? She's used to the boys doing thier share without complaint, well Aang is theo ne who mostly never complains.?? And Sokka, well Sokka is Sokka. Anyway, Katara just wanted Toph to do her share, and rightly so.?? Toph is part of the group and she should help out. |
You have to remember, *the end does not justify the means*. For example, let's say someone stole a loaf of bread to feed a hungry family. Heroic, thoughtful??- yes, however he is still thought of as a thief.
In the waterbending scroll episode, Katara was completely hogging that scroll. She got pissed off, even! Oh, and that episode also makes her a thief (yes, yes, they were pirates, but it's still stealing) and a liar.
Besides, I didn't say she was selfish in the episode The Chase. I said she was anal. ANAL.
Good - good to hear that you aren't delusioned by television.
Instead of making this a long post in defending myself (which is pretty troublesome), I'd like to point out that you were not respectful of my opinion. Like you said:

Everyone is intitled to their own opinion, but next time, choose your words bit more carefully. |
But apparently, you think the only people who are entitled to their opinions are the ones who don't point out the human side of the characters you like. Yes, I still think Katara is whiny/pushy/naggy sometimes, but if it'll make you um not foam at the mouth, here are some synonyms I think you'll like:
Whiny = Yammery
Pushy = Presumptuous
Naggy = Nit-picky
Oops! You replied faster than I can type.

Okay.?? I see your point with the Chase.?? But one thing though.?? Katara did tr yand explain to Toph that she needed to help out. She idd rather nicely I might add.?? "So Topoh, usually when setting up camp, we try and divide up the work."?? Toph non plused.?? "Don't worry about me, I'm good to go."?? Katara:?? "Actually, what I'm trying to say is.?? One of us might fetch water, while one of us may set up the fire pit or put up the tent. Even Momo does his fair share."?? Toph:?? "Katara, I'm fine.?? I don't need a fire. I already collected my own food and loo!?? My tent is all set up."?? Katara:?? "Well that's great for you.?? But we still need to-"?? Toph (A little testily):?? I don't understand, what's the probelm here!?? Katara:?? "Never mind."?? Then later on, Katara does apologize to Toph.?? But Toph still doesn't get it.?? So I guess my point is, Katara did try to be nice to her and explain things in a calm relaxed way.?? But Toph didnt' get it.?? And I think taht was from being sheltered for so long and not having to do anything for herself as far as cooking or cleanign up went.?? I'm the same way, but since I have more of Katara in me, I volunteer to help out more and try and learn how to do things. |
Well, see, there ya go. You finally understand what me and a few others have been repeating: Katara isn't always perfect. Plus, you forgot to add the part where Katara blatantly (and nastily) made fun of Toph not able to see the stars.
Oh! and as to not be off-topic: The tea...it will make Zuko hallucinate. The "spiritual crisis" that he faces is really Iroh's fault for making him drink the tea of the leaves that he mistakenly thought was harmless.
