A lot of people said they almost cried at the end of Iroh's tale, but I cried like a baby. I mean, I had just watched earlier in the week the interview with Terri Irwin (if you don't know who she is, look her up, anyway...) and it was just a stroke of ironic brilliance that the writers chose that scene to pay tribute to Mako. It still hurts to think about it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sokka's tale. He's an amazing guy, that Sokka! We keep seeing new sides to him. The boy loves poetry, and can turn a phrase himself.

Anyone else notice that just before Zuko lit all those lamps, he seemed to be praying? not to be witnessed, not to miss any lamps?

By the way, I understand that George is the Sokka/Suki ship, but where did "george" come from?

George came from Pharmocopoeia (gosh, I hope I spelled that right), a user here on TV.com. It started off as a joke, but it eventually spread and caught on with everyone here. Although I don't remember the EXACT lines that got it started, it was pretty random...

    The origin of George:

WOW!!! YOU HAVE A PICTURE OF IT!?!?! Can I get it? That's so cool. I always feel a bit of pride when someone explains where George came from... touching.

    GO GEORGE!!!

lol, well I thought it'd be easier to just post a picture to explain how george was created everytime someone asks what it is

It was a cute episode, we needed a douse of lightheartedness after all we???ve been through. Appa???s kidnaping, Aang losing it a good couple of times, the corruption of Ba Sing Se, and Jet???s dire place. Maybe this episode was a little too fluffy, and a basic filler, but at least Iroh???s piece made sure it wasn???t a repeat of ???The Great Divide.??? My beef on a couple...

Toph and Katara... Nice to see a progress in their friendship, girl bonding and all. More signs Toph has an inferiority complex. The mud face WTF and the two DID look like clowns with makeup on. -__- They dressed up last episode, don???t push it?

As much as I liked Jin and was glad to see Zuko flushed I still felt this was an uncharacteristic story. Jin, the girl had depth; she was kind-hearted, sweet, and adorably sloppy it made her endearing. It???s good to see Zuko???s soft side like in ???Zuko Alone??? but... The awkwardness was great, he bursts out ???she???s not my girlfriend then realizes he needs to say something! ???You have quite the appetite for a girl??? Smmooothe Zuko... Then again, no guy on Avatar has gotten the girl he wants without acting like a dork. XD But what I found perplexing was he was worried about his hair? And he actually let her touch him without flinching away or acting weird. Didn???t know he had a touchy feely side. Lighting the lanterns. Zuko, weren???t you just on Iroh???s case about heating his tea? You took an even bigger risk than him! All to impress a girl he broke it off with in the end. Yeah it???s complicated al right. What happened to principles, fire boy?

Momo???s tale, I found very suiting, especially at the end when Momo was curled up in Appa???s footprint. The cat pack! I want my own now... add flying lemur to that.

For the sake of decency I've??divided this up )

Let me just start out by saying that it freaks the crap out of me when I find some who shares similar thought process with me. The whole minds think alike just, anyway I think I almost completely agree with your impression, save a few points-

First off, what is going on with Avatar? When did they feel the need to use all these ???elements??? (yeah, yeah no pun intended ). I mean one of the main reasons I got hooked onto this show is because it tried not what basically everyone else is doing, it tried to stay unique. Yes we???re all aware that they borrowed a bunch of stuff from Miyazaki and Asian culture, but they did it in a creative way, and it wasn???t nearly as obvious as some of the stuff they???ve been doing these last couple of eps. You know what I???m talking about: giving the guy with glasses (at least I think they were supposed to be) a nasally voice, having a trio of mean spirited girls (thank God they can???t use blondes on this show, they would whipped that one out in a second), random testosterone-induced big huge guys with deep voices, the stupid getting thrown out the door sequence (that part almost made me puke, and I can???t even remember if he said ??? and stay out??? or not. If he did???.). Since when did Avatar really need all this crap? M???kay now onto the episode themselves.

Toph and Katara- It was nice but it really wasn???t all that. They really seem to be forcing those two to be girlfriends. I also didn???t care for that rebuttal (add that to the list) they gave to the girls. What does that truly prove? And latest blind joke, as usually it could???ve have been better if they had said it in a slightly different way. It was obvious that they were trying to get the characters back with that friendly punch at the end, but I kinda liked that.

Nice input, anyway here's part deux-

Iroh- Wasn???t nearly as wacked out as I thought it would be. Still I deeply wish they would go back to the ???jolly general??? iroh rather than the ???lets go crazy with cartoon and anime effects on him to make him funnier this season??? ??iroh. ???Yeah. I kinda wish they had saved the dedication for a lets say, longer, episode but the way his character been going and looking at his tale in a whole, it was pretty well-placed.

Sokka- as expected, the most seriously taken story of the bunch. . Let???s face it, Siege of the North was his high point and as you know it pretty much stops after that. I sincerely thought that they were getting back to it in the Library, but then the very next episode, gone. The one show I???ve seen in a while who actually treats the comic relief guy like a real character and this is what they do to him. Was one of my favorite characters even. I???m not even gonna get into his tale, I barely even watched the thing.

Part??Tres (I'll stop quoting soon enough)

Zuko- It was alright. Highly predictable and Zuko???s first line was pretty blatant but still alright. Here???s were I really agree with someone198, what are they doing with Zuko? Seriously what???s with all the ???first the setup, then the litte retort??? jokes? If they had done the stuff they???ve been doing to those two in these last couple of eps in the first season, he would???ve turned into a cartoon villain. Which is completely opposite of what their goal for him was. Why are they doing this to their two most developeable characters? I???m watching it and going, ???Yeah so um, didn???t his mother runaway the same day his grandfather was murdered or somethin???? My best guess (ie clinging to a comforting belief here) is that they???re saving all the good stuff for the last season, it is ???Fire??? after all. To sum it all up, they could???ve done a lot more with his tale if they had had more than 4 minutes.

As fun as it was seeing the softer side of Zuko I prefer crabby, crusty, hardass bastard Zuko over the one we saw in "The Tale of Zuko." It was like witnessing Avatar Jerk all over again. Zuko isn't Zuko without his edge, Aang isn't Aang without his lightheartedness.

Again with the it was a filler excuse meh. But your right about that last part, one of the main things I love about Avatar is that they actually give their characters development. Real development. Not that stupid "they learn thier lesson by the end or they undergo a great experience but then are back the exact same way by the next episode then they do that over and over again until they either ruin the flow or people get tired of it." Now I don't like making outright comparisions but uh, too bad about that Danny Phantom and Fairy Oddparents huh? But anyway you can just see it, look at any one of them (save Katara) in the first season then look at them now. Its pretty out there.

I like when they show a different side to a character. It can't all be fluff for one and crusty for the other.

My main point there was that yes they stay consistent with his character overall, but it is clear that there is no way??Aang (I kinda wanted to include the other main characters too)??is the exact same way he was in the first, oh lets say 3 episodes, which is more than I can say for other shows.

This was an excellent episode to shine some
light on the characters themselves rather then the story that they are a part
of it was rather bittersweet not what I generally expect from avatar.

    Examples of character development:

Aang: His bending skills are now excellent he is close to being a master of the
three elements he has been taught so far. He just needs some motivation
    to use it.

Toph: Her softer more feminine side showed through for the fist time (except
when she kissed Suki...oops) we have got more emotion from her in this episode
then the rest of the season. Especially when the snobby girls made her cry
for a second before she dumped them in a brook.

Katara: We really have seen all there is to Katara but she seems to be more fun
loving and relaxed now. Also her need to bond with and protect every person she cares about.

Sokka: He showed off his smarts and street style rap haiku to impress the
ladies also provided the comic relief for a emotional episode he is also getting over the loss of Princess Yue

Zuko: He showed that he is capable of having relationship and moveing on with his
life...except he knows that he cannot at least not until the war is over maybe
not even then. I also believe that he pulled away from Jin to protect her from
being persecuted if his real identity is discovered. Not just because he is
socially awkward. his firebending is also improving as he becomes more humble just like Iroh told him.

Iroh: Poor guy, it was reveled why he is always going the extra mile to protect
Zuko and anyone else he can and also live life to the fullest and encourage zuko to do the , He doesn???t want to neglect anyone else who he
could have helped in a future episode we MAY see that he pushed his son as hard as the fire lord pushed Zuko and Azula. RIP Mako

Momo: Showed just how clever he is also was the only one who managed to
stay on task find any trace of Appa. His memories of Appa gave told us how much
    he misses his buddy
