I don't like Katara except when she's fighting. And I like Zutara and Kataang.

I suppose. The reason I never really dug Kataang was 'cuz of Aang. I mean, he's just a cute little kid! I know that a whole lot of exposition went into expanding his character, but to me he was always just a goofy little guy who always ran into a rock (see intro) Part of it is his age, part his character. I just don't see Aang developing intensely romantic feelings for Katara. I mean, he did, but I found it a little false.

In the first episode of the series, I would've agreed with you. However, we've gotten quite an insight on Aang from the second episode on. He is MUCH more than meets the eye. He has so much inner angst it's surprising he doesn't just give up. That's matured him well beyond the years he's existed. Yes, that does include the 100 years he was in the iceberg.

Aang was just a little boy. But he is not any more. He has matured from an immature kid with a cute crush on a girl, into a serious, mature young man with deep and genuine romantic feelings for said girl. It's all very Campbellian, but I like that

The last person to call Aang a "little boy" in the show was Ozai. Look what happened to him.

He's still only 13. Granted, he's a lot different from your average 13 year old, but I have a hard time believing that at that age he has found his 'soul mate', if you will. I have no problem with them ending up together in the long run. I just thought its immediacy felt a little forced. Hell, they could have given me the Deathly Hallows epilogue with teh 10 years later business, and I would've been happier.

not defending Kataang or anything, because I am a hardcore zutarian, but back in the old days, people got married at very young ages. ( I think my great grandma got married at 9 or something)

At age 9? That's highly disturbing.

Blushing TOTALLY counts. In fact, it counts more than cheek kissing and hugging. When Katara kisses Aang on the cheek, she doesn't care because it's just a friendly gesture. She DOES care when he does something romantic or cute, or when she's embarrassed because someone called out their love by accident. That's where the blushing comes in. You only blush when you don't want someone to know something, and the cases in which the blushing happened were all positive Kataang experiences. Kissing on the cheek and hugging can happen anytime, blushing is reserved only for cute moment

So, if blushing counts, isn't Toph/Zuko canon

oKAY, you missed the point of that line. Blushing twice doesnt count AS proper developement of Katara liking Aang romantically in the Kataang relationship.

Axrendale- She didnt hesitate JUST because it was the war, she said (paraphrasing, and as i remember, so if someone finds quote that prove me wrong im cool with that) that she was "unsure of how she felt" and that with the war on it wasnt the proper time to face these questions. Also hugging and kissing on cheek dont count because Katara said in fortune teller that she (again quotes ppl are cool ) that hes like a brother and has always treated him motherly. Also, i dont know about other girls, but many i know, especially those im good friend with, kiss ppl on the cheek and hug them, without any romantic implications.

And blushing can also be for embarresment (and awarkness) isabelwhatx

haha thanks something9 id have actually perfered Zutoph to Maizu (thou i hated it ALOT less in boling rock)

I could respond to you with a veritable essay on the glory of Kataang, and it's developement. Instead, I'm going to respond with this:

I'm sure that there was no reason at all Katara was looking at Aang like that

    And lets not forget this:

Or this, for that matter, on a more serious note:

Seriously, you never responded to my reference to The Headband

It was not only twice, I'm sure. Also, as I pointed out, those were POSITIVE experiences she was blushing about. And, if they weren't, it was because someone pointed on their feelings in some way, shape, or form.

that look on katara can be so subjective, it can be romantic love look or motherly look or sisterly look even friendly looks..

if you want reff for romantic love looks..see sokka when he staring at Yue.

the second pic, it is not about katara ..it's about Aang whose from the beginning has a crush on katara ..and yes there are development feeling for Aang from crush feeling to posessive and obsessive but there is only one side and one more thing why Aang does not react to what happen between katara and jet.

and the 3rd pic, they just ready to figure our if the kiss can broke the curse..really...really no romance at all

1: Anyone who thinks that that look is motherly or sisterly is seriously deluding themselves. I'm sorry, but there is no other word for it.

2: I included this one mostly as a joke. But still, it's telling...

3: They had no idea that the kiss would do anything at all. Katara herself said that it was a crazy idea. It would seem that before she died, she simply wanted to do something...

The wonders of freeze frame lol, if we go into those then we can bring in many others- BEST example being the DOBS where Katara makes some very startling expressions and sadness. I interpreted it as Katara not yet feeling the same for Aang (but lead to development) and was flamed for it, but low and behold we had the same thing that happens everytime any type of developement for Kataang happened- COMPLETELY forgotten by next episode.

    1. Katara got into the mode for the dance, again up for interpretation but no SOLID developement from her part for Kataang relationship (SOLID DEVELOPEMENT; affecting differently, for more than a second, around a person, talking about said events and expressing feelings) this was only properly brought up in EIP which i was sooo glad they finally did, but then dropped AGAIN

    2. fact was that she was instructing Aang there- nothing romantic even came from Katara in that scene

    3. Chairunisa- right on the ball; though im sure Katara had some thoughts going through her head at that moment ie "OMG im about to Kiss Aang, should i be doing this, what if it doesnt work?" etc. IF they kissed u'd think one of them would have mentioned it, and fact Katara goes back to normal and is shocked by a kiss from him in DOBS goes againt that theory

Well...seeing Kataang's canon and Zutara was confirmed to be nothing more than a crackship (surprise..surprise) I don't really understand why people are still debating.

And those pictures are evidence that Katara has shown romantic interest in Aang throughout the show, anyone who saw otherwise were too caught up in Zutara land
