    Mature fanfics have their place, I must accept, but projecting feelings like that onto a couple like Katara and Aang takes some serious getting used to. Letting the show remain a kid's show in one's mind is not always a bad thing, nor is it ignoring reality, merely trying to keep the characters clean as long as possible.

    Maiko and Kataang can be pretty dark. People fail to see where Kataang is not all suugary sweet (The Awakening, The Avatar State, Crossroads of Destiny). Maiko.. well, Emo + goth, self explanatory.

    What's wrong with that anyway? Is it that hard for people to enjoy characters being happy at the conclusion of the show?

    *shrugs* still doesnt make their relationship seem dark to me, that barly lasted more than a few days

    its not that they were happy at the end, i like cheesy endings, its that their relationship seems so sugary sweet that to me its unrealisic

    not sugary as in happy more like too nice or too perfect. i mean they dont really ever get any long lasting problems. it kinda reminds me of 7th heaven where someone could die and still at the end of the episode everything would be ok again. life is not like that problems just dont go away that easy... hmmm im not sure i am explaining this very well. you know it might just be cuz i have never seen a relationship that seems so annoyingly problem free...

    yeh, I agree! For example, Katara told us, "I'm confused..." - but then they didn't take it anywhere at all...there really should've been a scene where she talked it over with someone (eg. suki or toph)...then the relationship just randomly sparked at the end!

    I think Katara was confused for a long time! She just started really thinking anything could happen between them. And it was just one kiss, I think they still have a lot to work out before really becomming a couple.
