    Azula is her mother's alter ego, that is why her and "Ursa" look so much alike, not genetics. Why else would Azula be on the FN throne anyway?:

    Well, now that the fire nation has airships and Dai Li agents they can earthbend Sozin's Comet, altering its orbit to permanently circle the earth. This causes firebenders to gain unbelievable power, and keep it permanently.

    Aang is actually dead and the entire series is either A.) His last thoughts of dying, and him making peace with his death. B.) What would've happened if he survived the Air Temple raid. Take that Jake Gyllenhaal/Tim Robbins!

    So, Ozai is really a member of a proselytic doomsday cult based on a Native American religion. (However, most of it's members were originally Christians thus certain aspects of Christianity were mixed in.)

    Aang's previous incarnation disrupted a ritual that would summon their "god". (which would cleanse the world of sin through fire) This interruption caused only half of their god to be summoned into this plain of existence. Ozai's real intentions are to unleash his vengeance upon Aang and finish the ritual by impregnating Katara with the "seed".
