It's probably better to leave plot holes. It's not usually best to answer every single question in a series. It leaves the ending a little less satisfying because now you know everything and it doesn't leave room for imagination.

12 episodes is enough for a very tight and awesome series.

yeah but when its a big question that is blatantly obvious that needs to be answered like Where the F is Zuko's Mother!!1!11!!!! it feels more the the series was cancelled rather than ended.

Yep! And I hope Katara taught Korra waterbending. Assuming she was alive and that she knew that Korra's the Avatar, she would be the one to teach her.

I've been thinking about that. If Katara is alive, assuming that The Fortuneteller episode was right and Tenzin is also her son, then wouldn't that kind of be depressing?

    It's kind of like this:

Korra- "Hi! I'm the Avatar! That means I am the reincarnation of your dead husband!"

I don't know, it just seemed like something Katara would do. She would be sad but she'd probably want the Avatar to have the best training possible. I couldn't see her outright refusing to teach Korra.

aang would have had to been in the age range of 62-69 when he died. I don't know what the normal life expectancy is in the show but if Katara is still alive, she would be 84 in the miniseries assuming that it is 70 years after ozai's defeat.
