Looking down, I saw what looked to be scorch marks, most likely from fire bending. Moving closer to the spot, I took a whiff. Whoever had been here hadn't left long ago, so the scent was fresh in the wind. "Seems they went this way, but the scent changes, heading toward Ba-Sing-Se.Well, lets go see if I can't find this fire nation traditor. Sounds like just the kind of person I need to see". And with that, I was off. |

Rin (novice firebender)
Just ran into Willy's group in the cave, Rampage and the three hitmen were approaching. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Not good..." Scorch said. "Rampage is after us."
"Hey!" Yelled Willy. "I still have business with you."
"We should leave right now, if Rampage has allies with him, we're finished." Rin whispered to Scorch.
"Sorry little Earthbender, but our fight is going to have to wait. We have some personal matters to attend to. Just so you know, next time we see you, if it's a fight you want then it's a fight you'll get. Good luck with our old friends." Scorch took Rin by the hand and took off for Ba Sing Se.
??Rin almost fell once or twice but managed to stay in flight for a while. They passed over the coast of the island and went east to the mainland of the Earth Kingdom.
"I'm done. I'm completely drained, and it's almost sunset." Rin complained.
"All right, we'll stop here to make camp for the night. We have a long way to go to Ba Sing Se, but we've covered a lot of ground so far. How about tomorrow I teach you some other stuff?" Scorch responded.
"Sure, sure...but now I really need some sleep."
The next morning, Scorch and Rin looked over a map of the Earth Kingdom.
"So we just came from that island..." Scorch pointed at the map. "...and flew all the way to here." He pointed to their approximate location.
"And Ba Sing Se is all the way over here..." Rin pointed farther east and north to the city with two huge walls, the safe haven of the Earth Kingdom, the impenetrable city.
"That's about a weeks worth of flying for me, but with you it might take longer..." Scorch noted.
"Sorry, I'm just a bunch of dead weight, aren't I?"
"No! That's not what I meant. I just meant that it's more important that we work together in a group and that stopping more often would be the best for both of us."
"Oh, okay. Say, do you think Rampage would be so bold as to follow us all the way there?"
"If I know him, then yeah, he would." Scorch looked up through the trees. The sun was still low in the sky. "It's time to start your training for the day."
"All right, now I can finally learn how to fight." Rin pretended to laugh evilly.
Scorch couldn't resist laughing. "Come on, let's get focused."
General Scorch (Fire Bender)

Scorch and Rin began to train.

"Okay, get into your stance," said Scorch.??Rin tried it once and was dead on. "Perfect," said Scorch, "I did notice something about your wooden sandals and I think that they weren't even. It looks much better and more natural."
"Thanks," said Rin, "okay, what do you want??me to do first?" Scorch thought for a moment and decided.
"Let's start with fireballs," said Scorch, "the most basic of fire bending, but also one of the best fighting technics that you could??know. First take in a deep breath, and exhaul. Now, when you do that again, quickly jab your fist out, I don't care which one." Rin inhauled and exhauled, quickly jabbing her fist out in front of her.
"Whoa,??I??can't believe I got it on the first try," said Rin.
"Yeah, that was good," said Scorch, "try to do five in a row, starting with you right hand and ending with your left. And don't be afraid to make a little noise when you do it; trust me it helps."
"Alright," said Rin. She took in a deep??breath and began to make several quick??jabs, creating fire balls, each smaller than the last. "Why s that so hard?" she asked.
"Your tired," said Scorch, "and??probably a little hungry."
"Yeah, just a little," said Rin.
"Okay, let's go down to the village and see if we can find something to eat," said Scorch.
"Uh, there might be a problem," said Rin, "I don't have any money with me, not even a copper piece."
"Well, that might be a problem," said Scorch, "let's just go down there and see if we can find a job, just enough to make a little money for food."
"Okay," said Rin, "could we walk though?"
"Sure, that'll probably be best," said Scorch, "this is an earth kingdom town anyway." They headed down to the town, hoping to find a way to make a quick copper piece.
