    This poses an interesting question. What would have happened if Aang's spirit was crushed by Ozai's if the energy bending failed. Would Aang have lost his bending, would the Avatar spirit be destroyed, would Aang just be evil? The Avatar spirit always interests me. The Avatar can maintain indivudality yet is part of a bigger entity. All the past Avatars exist in the spirit world or within the current Avatar with their own conscious and identity, while the soul or spirit lives on in its new host. I haven't heard of a reincarnation cycle where a soul is reincarnated into a new body, yet the previous life/self stays in the afterlife.

    What I assumed would have happened would have been the opposite. Aang loses his bending and Ozai doesn't.

    Lion Turtle says in the era before the avatar, we bend not the elements, but the energy within. it's not like you have to be the avatar to energy bend, so I guess once you're in an energy bending situation, you can overcome it. the only issue is that Amon doesn't bend (that we know of yet) so can he really be overcome? Ozai was on the verge of taking over Aang.

    In regard to Sato's machine-robot things, would a firebender be able to short circuit it if they bent lightening? Or does it not work like that? I'm no electrician.

    I wonder if anyone can use lightning. I'm not saying no one in the world, that would be madness but since the series is primarily going to take place in the city and most of the benders there don't seem "advanced" in their bending art we might not see it till season 2 Just a guess...

    would be interesting if we see a Avatar use lightning or metal bend, not born into that element . It would show us something about an Avatar if they do.

    Reminds me of a Avatar extras fact. Where it said, "If only they could use it to power a lightbulb." Only took seventy years.
