according to the "katara diary" they "almost kissed" but they didn't, and it shows she AT LEAST cares deeply about Aang
and Bryke have not confirmed or deny if the diaries can be taken as canon or not

Actually, even in the book, it's left ambiguous. Katara didn't say whether or not they kissed.

Each character has a "tale of" book that describes the second season through their point of view. Katara's shows her emotions and what's going through her head a specific events in the story.

I am an all knowing being. I know Kataang will happen. So if I know it will happen it must happen because I'm an all knowing being. There is now way you can beat that loigic.
P.S. I think thoses books are non-canon.

as I said, bryke hasn't taken the time to deny or confirm their canonness, unlike the card game, which they took the time to say the "4 new characters" were not canon

Rockon45, I remember Katara getting really insulted after Aang said he didn't want to kiss her, and she was like "wait, why am i getting so worked up about this?" She says in "city of walls and secret", "I can't wait for Aang to see me dressed up like this. I wonder what he'll say." And then after he says she looks beautiful she says "Oh my gosh is he blushing, wait i think i am too. Ok. calm down katara, so he said you looked pretty so what. He just isn;t used to seeing you like this, it'll pass..... Also, at the end of the erath king, she suspects that aang is going to tell her he's in love with her, and she thinks "I mean, I love Aang as a.... as a...." and then Sokka interupts. I suggest you get the book though, it is really interesting.
