The last thing I ever would have thought to watch on TV was Nickelodeon. Seeing commercials for Spongebob, and the various other examples of Children's Programming made me want to hurl. I am 17, and as a result, I spend most of my time watching MTV with friends, when most of the time I don't even like the shows. I love Lost, House, and Heroes. Those shows have substance, not the mindless dribble of MTV "real life drama". A friend of mine at work told me to watch this show Avatar: The Last Airbender , on Nickelodeon, and I immediately dismissed him. The next day, he came in with each box set for the series and demanded I watch them. This occurred in the beginning of June. I have since been engrossed by Avatar, and have finished the remaining episodes via online repositories. I cannot express how much this show wowed me. The animation was superb, and the universe was so intricate. The characters were so round and easy to identify with. I was able to escape an travel with Aang, and see his fantastic adventures unfold before me. Much like Harry Potter has done for me, Avatar allowed me to escape for that brief half hour into a world where men could bend elements to their liking and were faced with a choice, use that power for good or evil. All I can say is that this series is a gem, and I will miss it terribly.

The finale was incredible. I was a little irritated by the "Where is my mother ?" question, and the tea shop thing was a little corny. I just would have liked a "15 years later" ending that tied up all loose ends. Apparently, there has been talk by the creators of a spin off which they call "another incarnation of the character". I am anxiously awaiting news from the San Diego Comic Con on Friday July 25. There is supposed to be an Avatar Q&A which will answer some of our questions

Anyway, after seeing the show and completing it in a month's time has robbed me of the community experience while the show was still airing new episodes. I do hope to become an active member of the Avatar - TV.com boards, since you guys seem to have the latest and greatest on the series and franchise as a whole.

The first paragraph was from a quick blog entry I made a few minutes ago. I felt it was relevant to the finale and expressed my feelings on the show as a whole. I wrote that because I thought the whole "Levels" system required content to be submitted before I could post .

I hope to see more episodes or at least another special that acts as a "wrap up" to answer my questions

I hope my first post was in the right place ( I have posted in the wrong topics before) and I am excited to find that there actually is a large fanbase for Avatar outside of my little 10 year old cousins

I'm 18 and I love avatar. I love your discription of avatar. It's just how I would have said it only I've been a fan scince 2005. I was 14 then. It was love at first watch.

Thank you. It was the same for me. I loved the characters and that they change over the course of the story. Aang changes from an innocent boy to a fully realized Avatar and world leader in the course of a year. Everyone that he tocuhes shapes him and made him who he was at the end of Sozin's Comet: A protector, and a becon of hope.

I thought the finale was amazing. It just had an amazing production value. However, my one gripe with the finale is that I thought more time needed to be devoted to it. A 4-episode finale is pretty long, but the events seemed to have formed a bit too quickly. Maybe it's just me, but I think the show creators had been wary of this episode limit they had to work around, resulting in the large number of unanswered questions. They should have removed all of those fillers in season 3 and use those empty episode slots to further develop the events surrounding the finale. The fillers were still enjoyable to watch, but some events should have more weight than others, you know. The finale seemed to just jump into the action, not necessarily a bad thing, but I would have liked more prologue in the finale to enhance the sense of impending doom. This sense was by no means completely absent, but it should have been more emphasized.
i thought the whole "ozai's gonna burn the whole world" stuff pretty doomish.

Look, mabie it was a little anticlimantic but It made sence. A heck of a lot more sence than killing the firelord. I'm a big Star Wars fan and Aangs values arn't that diferent frome the jedi's

trust me, aang's values dont come from star wars. they come from ideas from various peoples and cultures in asia, mainly Buddhism.

Im pretty sure that everyone was in the crowd during Zuko's speech. Oh, and by the way, Katara and Aang's hook up was foreshadowed but it still was funny. If Aang is 12 and Katara is 14, how awkward would a French kiss really be at that age ? I love seeing people's signature's with TOUNGE in block letters. I could understand Katara know whats she's doing but in reality a 12 year old Aang probably wood have been like " Wow ! Why does she have her tounge in my mouith!" I think girls still had cooties when I was 12.

Oh, I know that. My point was that the jedi like Luke didn't kill others because that led to the the dark side and to looking butt ugly! The reson Aang didn't kill the firelord was so he could keep from losing himself and his pure heart. I don't know if understand were I'm comming from. If you don't that's o.k. I won't argue...

Here's something everyone should understand. Aniken and Padme were like 5 years appart but they still got married and no one made a big deal out of it. So why make a big deal out of the 3 year differance that Katara and Aang have?

It's not necessarily the age difference I'm pointing out, its the maturity. Katara is more mature than Aang, and that's why my whole scenario makes sense. But it is a hypothetical thought process during the kiss. In reality Aang has matured far more than a normal 12 year old. I was just making a witty connection between age, maturity, and the signatures some people have.

Is anybody really a little mad that the show ended, I mean in general. Honestly, when I started watching the DVD's in June I thought I was going to have to play catch up and search online for hours to get episodes and then I find out a new show I just got into is OVER. Granted, there still are the movies, but what about the show itself ? Do you think we will ever see another book ? I can understand an epilouge episode to tie everything up, and I would be satisfied with that, but I just feel like they had a good thing going and left us hanging out to dry. Lost does that to me every season, but at least I get my questions answered an it comes back every year. Why couldn't Avatar be like Spongebob and get a marathon week with new episodes every once in a while ? If shows like Spongebob and Rugrats can stay consistant and get new episdoes years at a time, why cut short a masterpiece ?
