I know what you mean. It was perfect, so perfect they didn't even have to say anything, it just happened.

It's amazing to think that they could paint so much emotion on cartoon characters. I've never been that moved by a kiss in my entire life. It was just so beautiful. Aang had defeated the Fire Lord, Zuko is the new Fire Lord, and everything was falling into place. Then, Katara comes in and seals the deal. It was breath taking.

Indeed...heh, they feel like more than cartoon characters to me anyway.

What did you want her to do? Start controlling Azula and make her knock herself out? That would have defeated the whole purpose of Zuko fighting Azula for the rightful crown. It was pretty obvious that Zuko won the Agni Kai, it was just a matter of time before Azula did something crazy like attack an unsuspecting victim, katara. If Katara stepped in with her "badassery" it would have ruined the whole importance of the Azula vs. Zuko strugle. The way it was resolved was much better. It was pretty obvious that bloodbending is pretty much the ultimatum of all bending, that's why the creators made it so it can only be dont at the full moon. If it was normal bending it would be completely retarded, and Katara would have too much power.

I never thought of the fight scene that way. You're right about Katara not stepping in. It was Zuko's fight, and Azula resulted to desperate violence to win.

So... I have a question of sorts... Anybody have any thoughts about the fact that Aang didn't kill the Fire Lord in the end? Think it was a creative decision on the part of the creators or that Nickelodeon just wouldn't allow it? I'm kind of leaning towards the latter, because I think DiMartino and Konietzko are very smart and talented and would have forshadowed the way out of killing Ozai long before they actually did. As it stands, the giant creature giving Aang Energy Bending seems like something pulled out of their rear ends at the last minute.

I agree with you totally, because the turtle in general seemed to be a very awkward device used by the creators to make so Aang could have his cake and eat it too.

I've never liked that analogy. What else does one do with cake?

If you eat your cake, you can't have it, so its impossible to do both at the same time. Aang wanted to defeat Ozai, but didnt want to kill him, so it'd be like he wants to have his cake, but also to eat it. What I meant by the analogy was that the creators gave him a way to do both, by giving him energy bending or whatever, which would be like giving him another cake, so he could have a cake and eat one too.

Regardless, it ended up having next to no impact on...anything, really.

Katara didn't even exhibit much of the badassery she'd developed over the course of the series.

    wilddog2k8 wrote:

Yes, I'm aware of that; this is made very clear in the series. What I'm saying in that things would work better if she were dead. She does nothing after she's banished, and killing her off enhances characterization for Zuko, Azula, and Ozai. Hence, better.

What did you want her to do? Start controlling Azula and make her knock herself out? That would have defeated the whole purpose of Zuko fighting Azula for the rightful crown. Truth be told I don't see the point of Keitara going with Zuko. I think it would have been more dramatic if Zuko had gone alone...

There are paintings of cake. Although thats not the best example that shows there are other things that are done with cake, so having cake is not simply rhetoric to create the analogy.

But that would be to much of risk for him to go alone, and besides the writers needed something for Katara to do.

Granted, that which she trusted in was her ability to terrorize and control those closest to her, and the whole thing is her own fault.

How come bloodbending ended up being irrelevant? One little "Katara is scary" moment in "The Southern Raiders" hardly does the creepy foreshadowy ending of "The Puppetmaster" any justice.

Things would make more sense if Zuko's mother was dead. "Tell me where my mother is"? Then why don't we get to see her? Having her die would make her story more powerful, Zuko's past more tragic (therefor interesting), and both Ozai and Azula more convincingly horrible, the former for letting his wife and the mother of his children die to make him more powerful, and the latter for laughing about it.

Bloodbending can only be done with a full moon, when a waterbenders power is at its peak. Also I HIGHLY doubt that Zuko's mom is dead. The scene in Ba Sing Se was directly after the jail scene where he asks about his mother. In the BSS scene Zuko seemed happy, I doubt he would be happy if his mother was dead or in some type of bad shape. And also, I highly dout the creators would have wasted time and money to put in the jail scene unless they planned to explain at some point in some way. That would have been COMPLETELY pointless because it was clear that there is an answer to the question that was asked... Azula is going to heal and become good. The little pieces of evidence that she has some good in her are proof enough. She will probably be reconnected with her mother and spend time with her...then she will begin her journey to self-fulfillment...that's my elaboration!!!!

I don't think they are going to elaborate on Ursa anymore. It was just an easy way to keep the Avatards from abandoning the show. It's amazing how much a little mystery can do =]

...That makes absolutely no sense. Keep us interested in what? It would make sense if there was a confirmed continuation of the show, but the only one is 2 years from now..and its not even a show, its a 1 1/2-2 hour movie. Not much to be excited about. Im pretty sure there will be some type of series about avatar in the next year or so. It would be completely retarded if they didnt tie up ALL the loose ends that the show had. And the jail scene is enough proof that there WILL be a continuation. I stand by my statement that it was a waste of time and money if they do not plan on explaining what happened to Zuko's mom. There are still many things that could happen, and obviously the creators of the show are good at making up random stuff as filler, or plot twists that leave people scracthing the balls. All in all there WILL be a continuation...maybe not about Aang, but there will defintly be some type of resolvement. I also read online that there will be 3 hour long movies aired on Nick, as well as the Shylaman trilogy. Here is the link:

So you'd want a cake to make a painting of it? Why not just paint a picture of cake anyway, what the hell do you need the cake for?

There is only one reasonable thing for someone to do with cake, and that's to eat it.

I have a question, if aang loved peace and was a vegetarian(like me ) why was everyone usually eating fish, would aang settle for nuts or something because I'm pretty sure you couldn't find too many soy plants or supplements in their world.

I apologize if this has already been addressed, but I don't have time to go through 152 pages of forum.

    1. Was there a full moon when Katara bloodbended the leader of the Southern Raiders?

    2. Why did Jun (sp?) say Aang didn't exist when the gang wanted the mole creature (Shir-shu?) to track Aang by his scent?

    Thanks!
