Nah, he's cute. He can be a bit loud, though. My two year old cousin is here now, lmao. He's stealing my chips

LMAO! Nice picture. As my mom would say, "epic prevail" AHAHAHA. That's her version of epic win. Sadly, I can't think of any other comparisons. Most of the other characters are too comical.

I am back! Sorry for the long absence. But why has my history thread been derailed?

Way back at the begining of this thread, there were some joking suggestions that Iroh paralleled Genghis Khan. It's an interesting fact that according to legend, Genghis Khan had glowing yellow eyes, similar to those of the members of the Fire Nation Royal Family.

It's true, everyone in the FN family has golden eyes. I've always found that weird. I guess now it has significance (or at least we think it does).

If you had to compare each distinct sovereignty in the ATLA world to a civilization/country from history, what do you think it would look like? This is an open-ended questin, I'm just looking for opinions.

isabella and ferdinand? that one doesnt really make sense. isabella and ferdinand were part of two different kingdoms and the marriage of the two unified them into one. as far as i can remember aang was no king and katara no queen. and there werent any turbaned moors in avatar

Rabid Kataang fan? No one ever said I meant katara and aang. On Byzantium, I'll retort tomorrow

If we're still going with the Ba Sing Se/Constantinople comparison, I found something.

After the Crusaders took Constantinople, they reportedly found a prostitute, and placed her on the throne as the "Emperess of Byzantium". Similarly, in the Avatar comic "Going Home Again", after she conquered Ba Sing Se, Azula placed Joo Dee on the throne as a puppet ruler. I know Joo Dee is a tour guide rather than a prostitute, but still...

DrAvatar is going to kill me if he ever reads this.

Lol, I was just thinking that. That's an interesting comparison. I guess fake rulers are more popular than anyone would like.

where do you read avatar comics?

Mostly in various Nickelodeon magazines. There's also two series that come with the season 2 and season 3 DVDs. There's also a number of books, none of which are very good. Except for one that has Kataang in it Do you have any historical comparisons for us?
