It took my a while to decipher your post. Many, many benders are skilled enough to kill someone. It doesn't take that much. What makes Katara any different? Try and keep your personal opinions out of the posts. I actually want to have an argument fueled by facts, not opinions.

there isn't any defense against blood bending she can kill anyone really fast, she could kill azula, Ozai, paku, Aang, Bumi, Toph, Zuko, Sokka, Suki all at once if she wanted to

So could Toph by flinging rocks at people. Plus, Katara can only blood bend once a month. That's an extreme disadvantage,

you can dodge, deflect, destory, block the rock you can do anything against blood bending

But there's that one in thirty chance you won't, just like there's a one in thirty days that you can blood bend.

now your just making up numbers

Katara is far more powerful than Pakku, because in all Pakku's fights he needs a huge amount of water! plus, on a seperate note, iceman (marvel) is an Omgea Mutant because he can freeze someones brain and kill them, katara can stop someones heart, which is kinda the same, so making a rough link id say she was more powerful!

If he can bend huge amounts of water at once, doesn't that make him better? Killing someone doesn't make you a better bender.

Well yeah but we've seen Katara bend larger amounts of water during a fight (see the Puppetmaster for example) And yeah it doesnt, but we've never seen Pakku bloodbend and Katara has, so clearly she's surpassed him as of Book 3

Contrary to what everyone keeps saying, the ability to bloodbend does not make the bloodbender completely invincible. We saw from Katara thata a skilled waterbender is capable of controlling their own blood to the point of resisting its influence. I also think that Aang in the Avatar State would be capable of resisting it, although he could probably do so without it. There is also the fact that the bloodbender could still be snuck up on and taken by surprise (think of what Azula did to Aang back in 220).

As Axrendale said, blood bending doesn't define you as a good waterbender. We don't know if it's a hard skill to master or if you need to be powerful to learn it. I'm guessing it's not a hard skill. seing as someone like Hama who's a regular, boring waterbender could do it. All because we haven't seen Pakku do it doesn't mean he can't. Pakku is much more experianced than Katara and he basically taught her everything she knows.

Has anyone else been watching the show but me? If you exclude Aang there is no most powerful bender. Each element has its masters, but no one could say with certaintiy that one is more powerful then the other. Youc an make a million different arguments for whether Ozai's strength and age could defeat Iroh's skill and wisdom, but it really doesn't matter, because they would both lose to the avatar. Done.

It is quite true that in Avatar power has nothing to do with winning the fight, it is all about brains over brawn, but quite frankly this is a very fun topic to argue about.

there really isn't enough information available to come to any conclusion about who's the best bender for each element. except that appa is the greatest airbender.

    APPA

When Appa shows himself capable of summoning up whirlwinds I'll agree with you. Until then I'm gonna have to say Aang.

I would hardly call Hama a "regular boring waterbender". She displayed numerous new high level waterbending skills that even Katara after her training with Pakku didn't know.
(ie: pulling water out of the air or plant life) and was the creator of blood bending.

hardly the accomplishments of an average waterbender. and its also worth noting that she was the last waterbender in the south pole, meaning she lasted the longest against the FN raids.

Extracting water from plants just makes you resourceful. Same with the creation of blood bending. She's just got a good head on her shoulders. The South Pole remark is true, though.

Water - I would say Katara. Nobody seemed to notice, but Katara can bloodbend WITHOUT the full moon. Watch southern raiders, I think it was in the morning when she bloodbended the captain of the ship. So she can basically own almost anyone if she concentrates hard enough.

Earth - Toph and Bumi draw? It would be interesting to watch them fight. Toph managed to defeat a whole tournament of earth benders one versus many, so she could probably beat Bumi, but we haven't seen much of the crazy king's attacks yet so...

Fire - I would have to say Ozai, his lightning looks the most lethal (and not to mention cool). That would be followed by Iroh, then Azula (when she's sane). I'm just wondering, wouldn't Ursa have to be pretty powerful to kill Azulon?

Air - Do I have a choice? I know I can consider Appa and Momo but...I 'think' it's Aang...

Where did this idea that you can bloodbend without the full moon come from? There is a reason that they had a shot in the Southern Raiders where the full moon filled prettymuch the entire page screen, with Appa just a tiny specck in front of it. In any case, you see the night sky and the full moon through the window when Katara was bloodbending the captain. So no, Katara can't bloodbend without the full moon, nobody can, unless Katara teaches the technique to Aang.

But I agree with everything else you said.
