I know that Islam and Judaism are like sister religions (technically brother but let's not go there), along with Christianity. But that's not the topic, now is it?

I can see some parallels between Azula and Hitler Both know how to get their men to follow their orders, regardless of what they are, they surrond themselves with the best people available Hitler got Rommel, Azula got Mai and Ty Li), and they both went kinda loco in the end (what else can we assume from Azula seeing mummy again?).

Two excellent public speaker obsessed with power and perfection (though Hitler sought a twisted type of perfection, Azula's perfect just the way she is).

I'd say that's good enough to say Azula was partially based off of Hitler.

OMG! The love of my life based off a madman? Say it ain't so! *runs off to shoot self*

It happens with all types of groups. There is always some moron who starts speaking on behalf of a large group of people making them look like complete fools.

wow this threat is mega of topic.

I think the avatar nations are most similar to

Fire Nation=Japanese empire,Germany WW1 and WW2 and old fashion European colonization

Earth Kingdom=China during WW2 no centralized government, poverty, practical no industry

Water tribe (north)= a weaker Britain during WW2

Water tribe (south)= a refugee camp, sorry that's the only thing I can think of.

Air Normand's=Tibet/Mongolia, Jew and other unwanted minority in ww2

I really can't believe some of the people on this thread.

'Sure Hitler slaughtered millions of people, but there are other qualities about him that I really like'.

    Seriously, what the crap?

Hitler was one of the most evil men who ever lived. Along with Atilla the Hun, Gengis Khan, Stalin and several others this man was up there with the most evil of the evil.

Have any of you ever been to Auschwitz? I have. You'd change your opinions on this 'admirable man' if you went there.

I'll say it. I am Jewish. Therefore it was my ancestors who were killed by this monster. On the database in Auschwitz there are hundreds of people with my family name listed as killed in the holocaust.

Hitler is now known to have been very kind to the people around him, he was a vegetarian, he encouraged his officers to quit smoking. Yes, this is all good. But at the same time this man is responsible for attempted genocide, mass-murder on an unprecedented scale, and one of the largest wars in human history. Not admirable qualities.

People who admire Hitler to be perfectly honest, sicken me to the core.

Khalid, you say you admire Hitler You also say you're a Muslim. You should know that if you met Hitler he would kill you without a second thought. It wasn't just the Jews who Hitler hated, it was anyone from any race but his own. Including you. An admiration of Hitler is truly idiotic, as that man certainly doesn't admire you.
I think you're taking what Khalid said out of proportion, he never said he admired Hitler just that he liked certain qualities that he had. Oh and when you say mass-murder on an unprecedented scale, wasn't around 6 million Jewish people killed because of the war? (RIP to all of them) But I think back in the day when white people were bringing over african people to become slaves somewhere like 170 million died, look up though since I'm not quite sure.

And on-topic: Yea I do see a resemblance between the Nazis and the FN, with the genocide and wanting to conquer the world.

yea Kahlid13 said "CERTAIN QUALITIES" i admire how Hitler got his people all riled up, even if it was for a bad cause, he was a motivational speaker and he brought the German economy up

That's insane! Just because the Allies destroyed three empires and blamed the war entirely on Germany and essentially destroyed its economy and military, not to mention failed to acknowledge Italy and Japan well in creation of the Treaty of Versaille, and brought about the Great Depression, and left France ravaged and burned, doesn't mean that it caused WWII.
    You forgot the Bolsheveik Revolution.
Ooh, yeah. And in turn the Cold War. Oh hell, why not just blame it all on Hitler Chamberlain and Lenin's mothers for giving birth to them?
    Let's not forget Stalin's mother.

this is a really far fetched idea. it is true that ozai wants to take over the world but hitler wasnt the only personin human history who sought world domination. also why would bryke base it off WWII ? the next thing youve got to back up your idea is the genocide of jews and a genocide of the air nomads. but i seriously cant think why bryke would base the show off WWII, considering of what a dramatic event that was for many families, knowing that their main audience would be kids?

So once again i'll say that i think that bryke would probably not have based ATLA after such a tragic event in american history

I partially disagree. World War 2 mad the depression irrelevent. People started to give large amounts of money to the US government via War Bonds, which the government used to beef up US industry.

It wasn't so much as WW2 itself ended the Great Depression, but how the government managed its money that got us out.

Besides, the Great Depression wasn't going to last forever. FDR and his New Deal began the climb out of it. WW2 just provided the means of which to fully get out of it. WW2 was a catylist, not the driving force itself.
