*clap, clap, clap* Your words, sir, have brought tears to my eyes (or they would have if my manly DNA allowed me to cry).

Seriously people. There are dozens and dozens of countries that are similar to the FN. But of all those nations, some of you pick the US?

When has America ever waged a campaign for world domination? The territories America acquired over the course of its existence is nothing compared to what other European countries did during the big nationalism trend. The presidents over the centuries may be many things, but they were never tyrants that suppressed freedoms to the point the populace wasn't allowed to dance.

As for the Native Americans, they were conquered and relocated to reservations. I'm not saying it was justifiable, but it's a far cry from the ethnical cleansing known as genocide. And nowadays instead of paying the government, the government pays them. The lives of their descendants aren't so hard if you ask me.

    Ah, the damnable manly DNA!

This thread is a monolithic example of the idea that a high level on the forums doesn't mean you have a brain.

I'm waiting to hear how the holocaust is a myth, propaganda spread by the Jews who run the world. Or maybe how since America funded bin Laden back in the day we deserved what happened, Europe deserves the attacks they frequently defend against because of...well, those crazy French, and when a man straps a bomb to himself to blow up women and children we should question what WE did to make him do that. We should question ourselves and see if we are in fact the real enemy...

Pathetic. If only people could be held accountable for what they type anonymously.

On topic, sure there are similarities between avatar and WWII, but the same could be said of any war where a dictator twisted his populace into open conquest. It is human nature, the terrible fate of man that we will war. We will war over religion, belief, territory, power...and tyrants will always be here. Men who if given control would "make the world a better place," for the good or ill of their populace.

    Finally! someone who understands it!

Oh, and there is no way that Avatar is inspired by World War II because in that war the Germans and the Japanese had other major military powers opposing them.

That's not the case with the Fire Nation in the Avatar world. The Earth Kingdom and Water Tribes are pathetically weak by comparison. The situation in the Avatar world is, you've got one superpower that's running amok in the world virtually unapposed. Just like in our world.

The U.S. has waged a campaign of world domination since WWII, at least. When I find a list of all the countries the U.S. military or CIA has screwed around with in one way or another, I'll be sure to post it here.

And keep in mind that the U.S. has military bases in the majority of the world's countries.

EDIT: I want to make it clear though that I DO NOT consider Al-Qaeda goods guys by any stretch of the imagination. I went overboard with that one and if I offended anyone, I apoligize.

That said, I stand by all my other comparisons.

I do live in the U.S., I CAN vote and I'll vote for Barack Obama. Not because I particularly like him, but in order to help prevent John McCain from being elected.

This thread is absurd, there is no correlation between WWII and Avatar in the least.

    Let's explore:

    1. Hitler came to power through mass propaganda and eventually through dictatorship as he did not legally win the popular vote. The Fire Nation is ruled by a monarchy, as far I can tell.

    2. Hitler did NOT wish for world domination, but to "cleanse" inferior races (namely the Jews, a result of unclear extreme anti-Semitism in his childhood) and to restore the German homeland. It was a radical approach for a conservative goal, paradoxically. Sozin wished to rule the Avatar world, to gain power, wealth, and resources. Mostly it was inspired by nationalism and greed, with no racial or genocidal motives.

    3. Prior to the beginning of each respective war, Germany was recovering from the collapsed Weimar Republic; the Fire Nation had stability and peace for many years.

    4. Anyone pointing out similarities in tanks, zeppelins, etcetera.. come on, how different can you make a couple of tanks look from one another?

    And so on..

Lastly, people who are saying they respect Hitler "apart from the whole killing Jews thing" (or whatever) kindly stfu. Maybe read a history book pertaining to WWII first or (better) Mein Kampf to see Hitler's true motives and objectives. You will see that the man was a monster: merciless, prejudiced, and some historians I believe speculate he had a mental illness as a result from war shock during The Great War.

In conclusion, this thread is pointless, provocative, and it just... fails. Discussing war is not in the Avatar spirit. Please lock.

Well that's your book. There is no question that what happened to the native americans was wrong, but genocide wasn't the intent of the immigrants from Europe. They took their land and killed them when they resisted, and I'm sure some of them wished the NA would just disappear. It's a little naive to compare that to baking people in ovens systematically.

Psshh, Ron Paul was crazy, but he was moving in the right direction. Romney seemed too much like a salesman to me. He wouldn't stand up for his beliefs with a clear voice, just kinda worked around the hard questions.

He would have been good for the economy and such. I did a report about him for a class, I would recall what exactly the report was about, but I dont remember as it was last November, but all I remember was thinking that I really wanted to vote for Romney. But, thats that. Also, everyone in my class in November thought Guliani would win the election. Funny how that worked.
