Wow...
You've inspired me to reveal my own cast of characters. Most of 'em will be appearing in my new Kyoshi story.
Clan Listing:
Name: Yuen Tuin line
Nation: Water Tribe
Info: Their bloodline was blessed by the Ocean and Moon spirits in the ancient days, gifting them with inhuman beauty and unearthly intelligence. Still in existence during Kyoshi???s era, the Yuen Tuin is one of five chief families of the Northern Tribe. Known to be the most influential and powerful, their provinces are the most prosperous and have the least difficulties. Often alliance marriages are sort with the Yuen Tuin by the other chief families since the families with the strongest ties to the Yuen Tuin are placed high in the Northern social and political structure.
Features: Full-blooded members possess pupil-less blue eyes. Yuen Tuin females have pure white hair throughout the whole of their lifespan, and the males pitch black. Because of their divinity the main branch of the Yuen Tuin family interbreed to keep the bloodline pure, for when blood is mixed the blessed traits diminish. Women traditionally rank highest in the family hierarchy but in order gain the position she must be of strong mind and body. But over the last three generations most girls are born sickly and feeble minded.
Abilities: Their warriors are of splendid repute, their Waterbenders of prodigal potential, their politicians??? insightful and master manipulators.
Notes: Every moon has its dark side and the Yuen Tuin line is no exception. Because of their grandness they genuinely believe themselves above the rest of humanity. As a result of interbreeding the taint of insanity has risen in some members, and their women are being born weak. This egotistical mindset will eventually lead to the collapse of their empire or something much, much worse???
Name: Carn no Tenpi
Nation: Fire Nation
Info: Once the most spiritual enlightened people of the Fire Nation, each member of their tribe was a Firebender. They dwelled near the burning mountains, their name for areas close to volcanoes. The Carn no Tenpi lived in tents and tepees, they never built stone or wooden settlements for those were the shelters the Nobility and their common folk used whom the Carn no Tenpi loathed. Leaders of tribes were chiefs who belonged to an overseeing warrior council that governed all of the Carn no Tenpi. Their patron was the sun but the Carn no Tenpi refer to it as ???The Great Spirit.??? For them the sun is what keeps the world alive, it is the circle of life. They also called themselves the sunborn. The Carn no Tenpi just didn???t see themselves as the sun???s people (in fact a rough translation of the tribe???s name means chiefs of the sun) but as the true children of fire too. It was this belief that lead to the Nobility to rage war against the Carn no Tenpi, eventually causing the collapse of their culture and enslavement to the Nobility. Since their fall a bleakness has taken many sunborn.
Features: The Carn no Tenpi are brown skinned and dark haired but their greatest feature are their golden eyes. Legends say they received their eye color when a mountain tribe were going to be burned alive by a mad nobleman. The tribe???s people prayed to the great spirit in the sun for help, and spirit made it so they would not be burned. They transformed into the sun???s people, marked by golden eyes. The tribe revolted against the mad nobleman, killing him and his common folk. Since that day the sunborn have hated the Nobility.
Abilities: Their style of Firebending was more aimed at endurance and deadly accuracy rather than brute strength and overwhelming your opponent. The Carn no Tenpi preferred fighting with spears, halberds, arrows, and knives. Only chiefs and their heirs fought with blades.
Notes: When a warrior is handicapped, such as being horribly scarred or having a limb ripped off they are sent to guard the Dragon???s Mouth, a mystical cave that holds some importance to the Avatar. This isn???t seen as banishment but the greatest honor.
Name: The Clan of Black and White
Nation: Holds no allegiance to any nation of the natural world
Info: A guild of assassins. Their philosophy is that death is only as illusion, and existence is a blade edged by good and evil, striving to live as closely to the afterlife as possible. The ones that lead the clan are known as the ???Wisest??? (a single leader a Wisdom), who are of great age and have fully embraced this philosophy. In order to achieve a closer connection to the spirit world the Wisest will often severe parts of their bodies and senses. The most common are the crippling of legs and blindness caused by drinking certain poisons. Those who are blind sometimes will start to ???see??? the spirits and afterlife, this ability is called ???the Sight.??? The elite assassins under the Wisest???s command are known as Ghosts and Darklings. Obedient, battle-hardened, and extremely deadly, the assassins are classified by their sexes, males Ghosts and females Darklings. Only a minority of the clan really believes in the philosophy of life and death, the rest are just people that have nothing else.
Abilities: Each clan???s member knows a certain amount of assassin skills and a large grasp of the variety of poisons in the world. This is usually so in case the Wisest call upon someone to become a Ghost or Darkling. The assassins are agile, quickly-reflexive, and masters of stealth. Their training in hand-to-hand combat relies on exploiting the enemies??? weakness and vulnerable points. They also specialize in hidden weapons, mostly battling with kunai knives. The Clan of White and Black are also the most knowledgeable concerning poisons. The Wisest are connected to the afterlife and spirit world.
Features: When a man is called upon to be an elite assassin he starts to drink a potion that changes his hair white and turns his skin pale. The paleness is the reason he is called a Ghost. The women???s potion makes their hair black and their skin usually darkens to ebony. Only the assassin???s eyes are left unchanged.
The Wisest are very old, wrinkled, shrunken, crippled, hunch-backed, deaf, blind, or mute.
Notes: No one is a Bender among the Clan of Black and White, some once were but lost the will. Hardly anyone is born into the clan, the members are deserters of armies, criminals, those whose lives have been ruined by one thing or another, people who lost faith in their nation, ect.
