I am totally not feeling Hallie Kate Eisenberg as Katara. I mean, really. Her skin is too light, and her teeth... just so not Katara in my book. |

I'm really tired of all the racism in this thread. OMG that actors skin colour doesn't match the characters! We should obviously chose the cast based on how much they look like the character, not on any acting skills or experience. |

I agree completely, although race is always going to be an issue where Avatar is concerned, because it reflects the difference in nations and characters.

i just saw a movie with hallie kate eisenberg in it and i think she may be a good katara. what do you think?

Erm........ I think they can find someone better. Nice try though.
Do you really think it looks like her? I don't see it.
Anyway, to people that are tired of "racism in this thread", I am totally with the idea of finding good actors, but to me, picking stars that don't match the characters they are portraying is just a perfect example of what Shyamalan will likely do with this film. The actors will only be the start of it all. He may very well hijack the whole Avatar world and story and turn it into something horrible.

Yeah, exactly. I don't like the racism either, I hate hearing how people are complaining about the skin color of the actors, even if their the better choice. I have to agree with momthelemur though, it will be an issue with Avatar because of the different nations and everything. But i still have to say, i'd rather see an experienced actor with another skin color then see an horrible-unexperienced actor with the same color as the characters on avatar XD |

I wasn't being racist in any sense. I was simply saying that that girl looks nothing like Katara to me. All the tanner in the world wouldn't change that. And of course I'd want them to choose people who are great actors, but I think looks should have some role in the casting. I want the movie to be as authentic as possible. That's all. Sorry if I offended anyone. Just stating my opinion. |
Ppl are way too quick to play the "racism" card. I personally would like the actors to look as close as possible to thier 2D counterparts, including skin colour. And no, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Acting is a profession where looks and appearance play a huge role. Say, for ex, I would like to make a movie about Nelson Mandela, would it be a wise choice to cast a white actor for the main role? of coure not, of course I would cast a black actor, a black actor that looks as close as possible to Mr. Mandela.
And don't gimme that BS about the 4 nations having ambgious skin colour, the water tribe clearly have a distinctly darker pigment than, aang. And Zuko has a distinctly paler complexion than the rest of the Gaang.
I would define racism as a hate or intolerance of other races, or the belief that one race is superior over another. So I don't really see why ppl are accusing other ppl of being racism over the current topic. I didn't see any posts here indicating racism.

I know she really doesn't look like her.
Speaking of score, anyone check out some of the Track Team's recordings listed in their new interview?
The bending sound effects are pretty hardcore before they were toned down. And be sure to check out the one entitled Aang's Nightmare...it's kinda creepy.
