Okay i saw the midnight showing and after discussing it with the people i saw it with i still have the same feeling it was pretty horrible. But my review is a little bit different then most other people who have already reviewed.
First i don't think the Bending was pretty bad because the people would do 5 moves then pause for about 5 seconds then something would happen. People laughed at some of the earth bending because it looked more like a step team. I thought that it should have flowed better so while they were doing the move the water, earth, air, or fire would be moving at the same time as they were doing the move. And it just looked odd for them to do a move then wait 5 seconds to see something happen.
I thought Appa, Momo, and all the animals looked good and i thought the music was good but i think it wouldn't have hurt the movie if they used the same music from the show. Because the music from the show was great to.
Now to the fun part. The Casting and the Acting. First i know this may sounds harsh to some because my friends disagreed with me but i thought the races were mixed up for the casting. I thought Asian should have played Air Benders. Africans or African Americans could have played Southern Water Tribe Memebers. Caucsian Americans could have played Fire Benders. I wasn't sure on Earth Benders though maybe Hispanic. But onto the actors who we got. I thought everyone was to serious and they were screaming random stuff and it seemed like nobody was happy ever during the movie (expect Sokka and Yue.)
The Storytelling was just awful. If you didn't see the show you would be completely lost. They skimmed through everything in the first season the first episodes of the show were in about a couple minutes or they didn't have anything to do with them. I believe there fighting scenes were good but too long and we didn't get any character devepolment if i didn't see this show i would think everyone is so serious and Aang has no feelings for Katara which is far from the truth. I just felt bad for these actors because the dialogue they got was horrible. Take for example this.
" So you think my Son is the Blue Spirt." Fire Lord Ozaisaid pause for like 15 seconds.
" Yes." Admirial Zhao (everyone at my threater laughed at the long pause for a short answer of yes.)
And like someone said earlier they said Katara name like once at the very end of the movie not even sure if they said Appa name. They didn't get a formal way to introduce there characters and show how they feel about each other. If i didn't see the show i would be thinking why should i care these characters i don't even know there name. Another thing was they took out the parts that made it a kid show where was the humor of Aang and the wisdom of Iroh. And why would two kids travel with this kid who name they don't even know. There was just a lot wrong with the plot and character devepolment and the end was such a fail
***SPOILER***
. The main problem was the dialogue they said things randomly and Katara narratoring some parts were very unnessecary.
Overall this movie needed to be longer to develop the characters and need to actually have some good storylines and not just rush everything into 15. Even a montage of there advantures would have been good. Develop the relationships between characters like Katara and Aang, Zuko and Iroh, and Sokka and Yue. Have the characters like they were in the show. Say there names a little more. Don't be so serious with these characters. It may seem harsh butyou may want to recast though. Work on the effects so it flows with the bending. But i just hope this movie is a learning exprince for the third movie as the third season is my favorite out of the whole show.
