    nope...

i'm really wondering though since their starting to film in spring 09, if their going to have enough time to do everything because they'll only have a little over a year before the release date. They must have a really tight schedule.

I'm sure they'll have enough time. Movies don't take that long to make, contrary to popular belief.

I didn't even get to reading any posts after reading the title; after doing so I immediatly linked this LA Movie with Ben 10: Race Against Time. Any B10 fans out there know what I'm talking about and know how "epically" it failed. I just hope the opposite for this LA Movie attempt. Say, if Avatar is "ended", why the sudden resurection? What ground have they not covered that needs explaining, or is this just another marketing/up-the-sales thing, or more-so a novelty for ATLA addicts?

The movies are simply an adaptation of each season. Marketing a franchise on a different medium is nothing new.

As for your skepticism: whether this movie will be the sh!t or just sh!t is yet to be seen. But don't compare it to Ben 10.

First of all, the 2 shows are completely different story wise. Second, Ben 10's movie was made for TV, and those always have tiny budgets. Avatar on the other hand is a motion picture event with $85 million to fund it.

So to quote Sokka, "At least the special effects [should be] decent."

i might not know about Ben 10 or whatever, but Avatar is by far uniquely different from other cartoons.

What I really don't understand is why soo many people want this movie to be ANIMATED. If it was animated it would just be the exact same thing all over again. Why are people so afraid of Live Action? Is it because you'll be seeing different people portraying the characters? Because they won't have the same look and voice? People need to really get over it...

Sorry i was just reading the IMDB boards for The Last Airbender and sooo many people are like "OMG IT SHOULD BE ANIMATED!!!" ugh. It annoys me soo much

like this person "So, lesson is, saying that Shyamalan is going to "ruin" The Last Airbender, which isn't a movie worth any director's time in the first place, unless it were animated, is a statement that has many errs in connotation and context" GRRRR!

    source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0938283/board/thread/116550486?d=118632261&p=3#118632261

EDIT: and also says this: "I will also take the moral low ground and say that the Airbender show sucks anyway, and besides who directs it, it's a *beep* idea in the first place. *beep* Avatar and his gay blue arrow and his magical blarney goat that flies him around. What a load of *beep* In a way, I hope Shyamalan does do a bad job on this movie, because I really don't want to like it if I see it. "

Obviously isn't a big fan of the show.

because if it was animated it'd be done by now and we'd be waiting for the next 2 to be released. then we'd wait to hear if their going to do a spinoff or not. A live action movie is a pretty big jump for people who have no experience with it. we don't even know if the people cast will resemble the characters. we could end up with just some random actors who don't even resemble the characters.

Doing an animated movie of the series would make no sense. What are they going to do...condense Book One and ruin it for us? It would be Book One with material cut out. I do not wish to see that. I am apprehensive about them possibly ruining the show, but people rarely achieve greatness without risk. I am willing to risk the movies being bad for the potential accolades the movie could receive.

    This

I'd like to take this time to mention an animated series called "Escaflowne." An animated movie adaptation was made which was essentially a condensed version of the series.

Unsurprisingly, it phailed. It phailed hard. The end.

This was most likely posted by an insecure anime fanboy who is either a prepubescent or a middle-aged man living in his mother's basement and will never amount to anything and passes most of his time blogging about stuff no one cares about because his bloated ego has given him the false idea that he's important. He gets fulfillment out of flaming anything non-japanese by sounding like an obnoxious donkey, which is most likely what he sounds like in real life causing him to become a social outcast, hence the long, lonely, pr0n filled hours on the interweb.

His opinion is 100% biased and therefore has the worth of a suitcase full of air...and not the good kind. My advice is to not even acknowledge his or any other fantards' abuse of the freedom of speech because they're all empty and pathetic inside. Getting angry over their troll posts only helps fill the void in their meaningless lives.

naruto, bleach, one piece, and hell even futurama have had successful animated movies that Aired in theatres. Avatar wouldn't have to go to theatres it'd go straight to dvd and sell well enough. Last time i checked us fans get avatar stuff even if its like the avatar video games. I've never heard of escaflowne's movie but i did watch the show once a loong time ago. you can't compare Avatar to a old low rating show like that.

That would make no sense to remake a beloved show only to butcher it.

I didn't get angry, there has to be SOME people that hate Avatar (even though he probably hasn't even seen one episode of it). I didn't reply to what he said, I'll let other people do that and i don't have an IMDB account anyways

It's not like it will be all choppy and jump from one thing to another. Yes they have to cut some things out, So what? All it will do is enhance the greatness of Avatar. Unless the movie totally sucks, which I really don't think it will...

That post was in regards to whether or not the movie should be animated. In my earlier post, I stated that I support the live-action movies. I do not, however, support an animated movie. It makes absolutely no sense to make the exact same thing as the show but with less material. If the movie were to feature new plot material, I could possibly acquiesce on that.
