This is the official thread for questions concerning Avatar: The Last Airbender. Something plaguing your mind, won???t leave you alone? Ask it here and have it answered!

    Examples???

Q1. Whatever happened to the Gliders episode?
An. Nothing besides the fact the titled was changed to ???The Northern Air Temple.???

Q2. Can Sokka Bend at all?
An. No, and if he ever did it would ruin the integrity of Avatar.

Q3. Are the Airbenders and Air Nomads still alive?
An. Until an Airbender AND Nomad other than Aang appears and is not part of a flashback, Aang is currently the LAST ONE. Also popular speculation such as this should have its own thread.

Q4. Is the Earth Kingdom unified?
An. Nope, divided like the Water Tribes.

Q5. What made the Fire Nation so strong?
An. Sozin's comet. Go read a summery for Episode 8.

Q6.?? Is Avatar based off a book and if so where can I find it?
An. Avatar is NOT based off a book, just multiple Asian legends.

Note. Anyone can answer a question. Also, if a question gets out of hand and tons of speculations start that???s probably when the question needs a thread of its own. But for all simple questions come here!!

How did the Fire Nation get so strong? AFter a century of warfare their resources shoudl be depleted.

What happened to the Southern Water tribe? Is that all that's left of them or are they scattered?

Why doesn't the Earth Kingdom just launch a massive counterattack, they have the numbers?

What rank is Aang? He can't be an Airbenidng master already he's still young.

According to Chinese belief, metal is the fifth element. Do you think there will be metal benders in the future. (This last one is speculation).

The Fire nation got so strong because of the meteor mentioned in the winter solstice

The state of the southern water tribes has not been confirmed but speculation would say there are numerous other small tribes down there

The Earth nation is experiencing what you would call occupation by the much more powerful Fire nation, if they attacked they would be hard pressed to get other parts of their kingdom to uprise too, and would end in the destruction of their towns and family

I doubt there will be metal bending, but anything is possible

The lady bounty hunter, Jun I believe, was hired by Zuko to track down the Avatar and hsi friends. Using Katara's necklace that she lost earlier, the beast she was riding on could sniff her out and therefore lead them to the avatar.

-I still haven't seen the first two episodes. What exactly did that comet do? Did it destroy cities or allow the Fire Lord to harness it's power? What did it do?
-If there are other surviving Water tribe members, wouldnt' it be logical that at least a few would be Waterbenders? Couldn't the group have searched for one around there?
-Just how much of the Earth Kingdom is occupied by the Fire Nation? I doubt it can be more than a third. The Earth Kingdom is huge.

The Fire nation harnessed the power of the meteor. They said that in episode where Aang went to the fire temple to see roku

Yes it would be logical for there to be other waterbenders, but in the beginning episode i believe all the warriors went off to war, as did all water benders of that particular tribe i would assume. The group did not search for other water benders because they believed the masters to be up north.

Episodes such as imprisoned indicate that portions of the earth kingdom are under occupation, but others such as The king of Omashu would indicate otherwise. It is hard to determine how much of the world the Fire Nation controls, one could assume that when the Fire Nation first recieved the power from the meteor they made massive strikes, gaining a lot of territory. This is all of course just speculation, you could assume the earth nation should be able to rise up against the Fire nation but perhaps we are not meant to ask these questions.

I haven't had a chance to look at the Avatar world map closely...so someone tell me:

Is there really 4 air temples?? Or did I just imagine them?

there are two temples revealed so far in the series, the Souther and the Northern, there was a list of upcoming episodes for season two one was titled the Eastern Air Temple, so we know there are three temples at least, it is possible that there is a forth called the Western Air Temple

There are four temples, South and North were dominated by male Airbenders. It's most likely safe to assume that the West and East were dedicated to female Airbenders.

That list of episodes you're talking about I think is fan based.

Question: Has there been any indication in past episodes that Zuko can swim?

    Just wondering.

Can Zuko see out of his wounded eye? If not does he have bad depth perception, wouldn't that affect his fighting?

Also if Aang defeats Oazi would the crown go to Zuko, or Azula since Zuko's banished?

It seems Zuko can see perfectly out of his left eye. When he awoke in after Aang had rescued him, the audience saw what Zuko was seeing. There was nothing wrong with his vision.

HOW many times has the Angst-Ridden Prince of Pricks mourned over the loose of his birthright a.k.a. the throne of the Fire Nation?

We have had no confirmation yet, but in all likelihood Azula probably is the current heir to the throne.

Are there any actual books named Avatar the last airbender, or is it just a T.V. show? I know it was divided into books, but i can't find any.

There are no real books (the kind that you have to open and have the pages in them) called "Avatar: The Last Airbender". It's just a T.V. show. The episodes are grouped into 3 books: Water, Earth, and Fire (is there air?) That's just what they're called but it doesn't mean that they're based off of a real book. I hope that helps.
