some of the stuff may have been edited here though
I've finished watching this season a while ago (a month or so? Whatever, it's when it ended in Australia) and I must say it was better than I thought it would be.
I'm not a musical fan, at all, they rather bore me and make me cringe, whilst some songs in World Tour are often simple and cheesy, they're well made. Kudos to the song writers and everyone involved in that apartment. You made something I dislike in general into a decent production.
The drama was...well, mostly obvious most of the time. The character development was the best in the series to date, most of the characters we're given tons of screentime. Thew new characters made bland characters like Cody actually do something and be interesting, even if it is only a slight interest. It's something!
I liked the challenges and the setting of the season as well, almost makes you forgive about the snooze that was Total Drama Action.
Although my complaints has to said too. It's not a perfect season by all means, if anything Ezekiel almost ruins it. I know it's a cartoon but his story was just lazy writing. If you're not gonna use him as a contestant then don't make him one. I guess Ezekiel won't get any 'normal' character development anymore, bar his annoying feral/Gollum gags. He's a character that would have been interesting to see him interact with the other characters. What a waste!
Then there's the over-use of characters, such as Owen, Duncan and Gwen. I know they are fan favourites but...they aren't the only characters on the show! Especially Owen since he's a comic-relief character that gets tedious after being on too episodes. The Duncan and Gwen storyline doesn't interest in the slightest and, in my opinion, was just created since they couldn't find anything else to do with GxT and DxC and even just by themselves. I didn't mention Heather because she's the original antagonist and still has tons of potential, especially with Alejandro around. It could be either a fiery affair all the way or possibly a fiery affair until the mid-point and they start being like Amber-Rob in Survivor All-Stars, although with hopefully not with the same results.
I still fail to see why Katie, Sadie and Eva can't be on more episodes as a contestant. We have two friends that can be use as bait by the antagonists, either in an alliance way or break-them-apart away and use it as an advantage. They could always forgive each other in an Aftermath episode. Eva has the potential to be an antagonist although in a more physical way.
I don't really get what everyone is complaining about with Ezekiel. I thought what they did with all of his cameo appearances was pretty clever and it was fun trying to find him in the episodes. Of course, about halfway through the season, they stopped putting any effort into hiding him...
As for the zombie thing, I really couldn't care less about Ezekiel otherwise, so I didn't mind that either.
I'm almost 99% positive Alejandro is going to meet a very HOT and HORRIBLE end...say in about...four episodes or so from now! Enough said!
He does...another scene that was slighty over-the-top, however they certainly must have something planned after all those changes. (Al being Vader, Zeke being Gollum, everyone stranded in Hawaii or somewhere, etc.)
To a poster who's name escapes me: The Zeke storyline was 'unique' but I don't approve of it. It would have been better to see him on the plane as the normal Ezekiel and possibly sabbotage other contestants/come back in London (instead of Duncan, who's been derailed beyond belief in World Tour). Meh, having him interact with others would have been better, or as I said above as an unknown and 'wha-?!' antagonist of some sort.
I just don't like Ezekiel, so I don't care about anything that happens to him. I see your point, though. If that had happened to one my favorite characters, I would be pretty pissed.
I didn't like what they did with Ezekiel, either.
But a little off-topic, I just wanted to post my favorite songs from the season:
1. This Is How We Will End It
2. Gwen's Face
3. Condor
and I haven't really decided on the others yet...
My top 5 would be this:
1: This Is How We Will End It
2: I'm Gonna Make It
3: Fight for The Gold/Greek Mix
4: Gwen's Face
5: Condor
