It has death, and for nick, that's pretty good, the nick people do well by making avatar suspensful, and un-predictable, withought having to be gory, and the good guys die too-
*Spoilers about people die* Yue dies Yue Fiance dies Fire Lord Azulan dies (I still think he's in prison or something).
Ursa (not sure) Suki and the warriors (not sure) Zhao dies Uncle Iroh's son dies Jet dies The first time we see Jet he deafets and kills a small firenation army Aang kills a lot of people (hundreds, or even thousands) when he is that water spirit thing (In the last episode of season 1). It's a war so a lot of people are dieing And you see many people thrown over-board, and, die. Aang "dies" dor like a couple minutes Katara's mother dies Jet lost his parents to the firenation Edit: Oh the firenation killed all the airbenders and in the 3rd or 4th episode it shows that Aang saw Monk Gyotso (his skeleton and all) (sp?) dead. I think Tao's mom is dead too, I think... And not to mention all little battles that the gang has ended up killing. And all the firenation villiages you see burned up.
The animation is wonderful, espcially in the Book 2: Earth, the Ba Sing Se city was amazing, they really captured the lower, middle, and upper rings looked like in different parts of Asia.
All the characters are interesting, all have some sort of weakness. And Zuko and Toph (maybe Aang) are probably the most interesting in the entire series, I've never seen a animation using a blind girl that kicks butt, props creators!
You have re-accuring characters, like in the episode "Zuko Alone" Zuko sniffs something and looks around then you see a couple cooking something, Zuko reaches for his knives, but then realizes she is pregnant, so he decides not too. This couple later comes back in "The Serpents Pass".
Funny Randomness, Foaming at the mouth Guy, and The cabbage merchant. I wonder if we'll see them in the fire nation? hmm...couldn't imagine the show without them! Sokka and Toph are probably the most funny in the entire series. I love the part when Toph flicks a buger (sp?) on the celing and then It lands on Sokka. LMAO.
I hate the stupid "fake anime" stuff! Gahhh...Ot's sooooo annoying, the only reason why people probably think it's anime is that the creators do the basic drawings, then do basic color scheme, then It's sent off to South Korea where they do that last touches and do all the backgrounds. That's probably where the whol "anime feel and look" comes from. But there is SOO MUCH of a difference between anime, and the avatar stlye.
I don't like to ship all that much, But for people who do, they have a lot of ships.
The bending stlyes are amazing, I like them all equally. They are very realistic looking because they are based on real martial arts. I've watched show that had action like this, but It always came off to me as cheezy, because you can tell the moves are made-up and not based on anything.
You also have Azula, many people don't like her, but she's one of my favourite characters. HECK...if it wasn't for her I would love Zuko as much, that's why I love Azula

The "bending four elements" isn't an orginal thing, ok
so don't use that as an excuse to not watch avatar! Tyr it out! See, the original thing is the original characters, I mean sure Toph is that b*tch type girl but she has her own uniqness if ya know what I mean. All the characters are like that on the show, I mean as in unqniess- basically the main characters are (In alphabetical order)
Aang
Azula
Katara
Toph
Sokka
Uncle Iroh
and last, but not least ZUKO!
Plus many sub-characters.
But the original thing about Avatar: The Last Airbender is that Aang is the Avatar, the only one who can master 4 elements, he is the only airbender, since now all the airbenders got killed off by the firenation. Everything is original. Watch the show and you'll see what I mean. Trust me, the first episodes aren't AMAZING, I advise, if you want t o spoil everything, watch the "Seige of the North: Part 1, and Part 2" And all of season 2. Season 1 was really great, but It didn't get me hooked! OMG SEASON 2 WAS JUST PLAIN AWESOME!
