I'm going to do a well-thought out and long review of "Toy Story 3" (because i am bored and i love the movie). If you haven't seen it, be aware because this will have many spoilers, and I don't know if there's a way to make it so that to see the spoilers you highlight it. So, if you haven't seen it, read this at your own risk (especially if you want to see it haha): I had been wanting to see Toy Story 3 for such a long time. I finally got to sometime in August. I loved it. It starts out similar to the way the first one did. One Eyed Bart/Mr. Potato Head, Woody, Jessie, Buzz... good times. Then we see Andy as a young kid, and his mom videotaping him playing with his toys and him growing up. If you are a fan of the first two, seeing him as a kid, this might make you sniffle. Then, we see his toys. And my, he does not have nearly as many toys as he used to. Classics like Bo Peep, Wheezie, Etch... not there. Theonly ones he still has are- Woody, Buzz, Jessie, Bulls-Eye, Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, Slinky, the three little aliens from Pizza Planet... Ham, and some green army guys(who leave after the first 10 minutes). Woody and the gang have made a plan for play time. They realize that Andy truly is grown up when their plan does not work. Everyone is sad that Andy is older and try to decide what to do. Should they leave like the army guys? Go up to the attic? Andy's Mom makes him clean out his room, and he plans to take Woody to college with him, and put the others in the attic. But, he puts them in a trash bag, and when Andy's Mom sees the bag, she assumes it is trash. Woody tries to save his friends, because he knows that Andy planned on putting them in the attic. But none of them believe him. So, they plan to go to daycare so that they can get played with. Thier plan works, and when they meet Lotso Hugging Bear, and he tours them around, the daycare, Sunnyside, seems perfect. But, Woody insists they leave to go to Andy, because they are still his toys. Nobody agrees, leaving Woody to call them all selfish and leave himself. He escapes out of a bathroom window (a janitor walks by and Woody assumes the janitor is going to go outside). Woody is on the roof. He uses a glider thing and escapes, but the wind is strong and Woody is still hanging on to the glider. He gets caught in a tree, and before he can do anything, a little girl whose mom works at the daycare (the girl's name is Bonnie), sees Woody, and puts him in her backpack. We see the rest of the toys inside. It is soon time for the kids to play with them. They get ready, but Buzz sees other toys cowering and hiding. The little kids rush in, and play somewhat violently with the toys. We see Woody at Bonnie's house. Woody gets to know the other toys she has, and he seems to enjoy himself there. Buzz and the rest of the toys do not like the way they were being played with, and Buzz oes to see Lotso to request going into a big kids room. It is here when we learn some facts about characters, partiularly Lotso. Buzz sees some of the other toys in their hang out, and is captured. When Lotso finds out, he likes how Buzz showed initiative. He says Buzz can have anything he likes, including entrance to a different room. But Buzz learns that his friends can't go. So, if his friends can't, he won't. We then learn the truth; Lotso is an evil bear. Him and his accomplices switch Buzz to demo mode, where he thinks he is a real Buzz Lightyear again and he works for Lotso. Quick break- it's pretty interesting Lotso is evil. The ads all showed him as a nice bear and have very little indication that he is bad. They did a great job with this. Mrs. Potato head, who has been missing an eye since the movie started, puts her eye in the hallway, because they all heard a noise. Her other eye seems to be in Andy's room somewhere, because she can see Andy. She sees Andy going in the attic, and being upset. It is at this point that the rest of the toys realize Woody was telling the truth; Andy WAS going to put them in the attic. Lotso and his comrades come in and they tell him they need to go. But, he imprisons them, telling themthat they can't "check out early". He uses Buzz to do this. Woody, at Bonnie's house, uses a computer to try and find out how far away Andy's house is. He mentions how he escaped Sunnyside, an Bonnie's toys are shocked. Then, one of her toys, Chuckles, tells Woody Lotso's story: Lotso, Chuckles, and "Big Baby", one of his henchmen at the daycare, had the same kid; a girl named Daisy. Daisy loved Lotso especially. They did everything together. But, one day, Daisy fell asleep at a park, and Daisy's parents left all three of her toys. Lotso is determined to find Daisy's house, and when they do, they are shocked to see Lotso has been replaced with a new Lotso. This hurts Lotso, who claims that Daisy "replaced all of them." Lotso then finds Sunnyside and takes over there. Chuckles broke and got out. With this information, Woody decides the right thing to do is to go back to Sunnyside to rescue his friends. He sees how rough the children play, and is surprised. A chatter telephone goes up to Woody, who tells him how he shouldn't have come back. Woody learns how hard it is to get out of Sunnyside. The telephone tells him all about how Lotso has cars patrolling, doors are locked, etc. He then tells Woody about "The Monkey" The monkey can see everything, and the telephone tells Woody that he needs to take out the monkey before he can do anything. Oh, and the Monkey may or may not scare young kids. The design on it is kind of creepy. When the kids go out, and none of the henchmen are around, Woody reveals himself to his friends, who are more than happy to see them. Woody tells him about his escape plan. The next 15-20 minutes or so focus on the plan. Mr. Potato head attempts to escape, and when Ken (a ken doll), Big Baby, and Buzz capture him, he is thrown into "the Box." Barbie (one of Andy's sister Molly's toys), cries and weeps and claims she wants to be with Ken (she decided not to be because of what he was doing to her friends). Ken lets her out. Mr. Potato Head is thrown into the box. Woody and Slinky (he helped Slinky escape) trap the monkey in a box. Ham and Rex pretend to fight, so Buzz will let them out of their cages (all of the toys were placed in cages so they would not try to escape). They then trap Buzz. Ken models outfits for Barbie. But Barbie ties Ken up, wanting to know how they can reset Buzz. Ken tells them about the manual Lotso used, and Barbie, dressed in a Ken astronaut outfit, gets the manual. Woody, Ham, and Rex try to get Buzz back to play mode. But, he is switched, to Spanish mode. Quick Break- Buzz in Spanish mode is probably the funniest part of the movie. If you haven't seen it, you might be wondering what is so funny about Buzz speaking Spanish. You'll have to see it. He talks Spanish, he likes Jessie and does some weird, Spanish dance for her. It's pretty hysterical. The rest of the plan worked and the gang attempt to flee Sunnyside. They have to go over some dumpsters first. They are so close, when, at the last minute, Lotso appears. Lotso claims that no kid really loves a toy, and saying that Woody is "plastic and made to be thrown away". At that moment, a garbage truck comes. Lotso makes them either come back to Sunnyside with him and his henchmen, or to be thrown in the dumpster. Woody tries to convince everyone that Lotso is wrong in all this and that his kid, Daisy loved him. Big Baby is very upset when he finds this out, and he betrays Lotso, throwing him in the dumpster. The rest of the henchmen leave and Woody and friends try to escape before the garbage truck gets there. But, Lotso grabs Woody and thrusts him in the dumpster too. The rest of the toys (except Barbie and Ken) try to save Woody. They are take to the dump, where they try to escape. The alien toys are distracted and go to "The claw". Gotta love that joke. I certainly do. Woody and the gang are about to be shredded when they learn that the place they are at is a magnet. Woody and Buzz decide to save Lotso, who is trapped. They are then seeemingly about to be rescued when Rex claims he sees "Daylight." But Woody realizes that what they see is not daylight, and, in probably the darkest moment of the Toy Story trilogy, they see it is an incinerator (meaning if they do not escape, they will be burned). Lotso sees a switch to stop the incinerator, and Woody helps him up. But, at the last minute,Lotso decides to be evil and NOT stop the incineraor. He leaves Woody and the gang to burn. This is truly a great scene. The implication is that these toys, these toys we have seen before, and love, are going to be burned. It is an emotional and dark scene, arguably the darkest in the trilogy. The toys realize they cannot escape, and hold hands, preparing for their deaths. But, "the claw" the aliens were using helps them, and saves them from a fiery death. A lot of people I know say this was a sad scene and it really is. Some even had the thought that they would end the movie on the note, that they would all die. That would have been dark, but good. It shows that these toys obviously love each other. We see Lotso one last time, being tied to the front of a garbageman's truck. Poor, misunderstood Lotso... Woody and the gang see yet another garbagetruck, and make it home before Andy leaves. They wash up (obviously they are filthy), and go up to Andy's room. The rest of the movie is very emotional. Mrs. Potato Head finds her eye, and the toys say their goodbyes to Woody. Woody gets in the college box, and takes seemingly one last look at the toys. Andy and his mom walk in the room, and Andy's mom gets emotional, knowing her son is off to college. She says "I wish I could always be with you." Woody sees this, and gets sad. He looks at a picture of Andy, when he was young, playing with his toys. He realizes that Andy is not a kid anymore and that he should not be going to college with him. While Andy is distracted saying goodbye to Buster, Woody leaves a note on the "Attic" Box (the one with the rest of the toys). And sees this, and assumes his mom wrote it. He goes to the address on the note (Bonnie's house). He gets out of his car, gives mini introductions to all the toys. Bonnie looks in the box and sees Woody. Andy did not know Woody was in the box and is hesitant to give Bonnie his beloved pal. But, he decides it is best. They play with the toys one last time, Andy leaves for college, and the toys sadly watch their beloved owner take off. "So long, partner." Woody says. Wow. I honestly love this movie a lot. There's so much happening in it yet it doesn't feel like it. There are funny parts (like Buzz's spanish mode), and some dark scenes, the incinarator for example, and some sad scenes (the last like 10 minutes). It is a good film and I honestly think I would classify it as one of my favorite films. Andy giving away the toys, ESPECIALLY Woody, is so sad. The film made over 1 billion dollars in the box office and this could result in a 4th one later on. I hope not. They ended the trilogy in a perfect way and I would not like to see a 4th one (they probably wouldn't make one anyway). The reason I wrote this review is because I like this movie a lot and wanted to express why. I hope you enjoyed reading, and if you have not seen it, I hope you see iy soon and i hope you like it. |

my ranking would probably go 3, 1, 2. but they're all good in their own ways |
I'd have to go with 3,1,2
Three really did make me almost cry, with the fire part and with the ending...

it takes a lot generally to make me cry but toy story 3 almost always does. i think just because the atmosphere of the movie is sadder than the first two. andy loves these toys (they're basically his best friends), but he decides to give them away, instead of keeping them. it's so sweet. it really is like, the best possible way, IMO, to end th trilogy |

God, who could ever think of a 4th movie? It's pixar, they are made of awesome and they know when the story is over and its time to move on the other films they have that need a sequel or their golden ideas that should be shared with everyone. |

yea, i've been thinking about sometime in the future, we see bonnie as an older girl about to go to college and the toys wonder what will happen to them again. but i don't think people care about bonnie a lot. i mean, she was cute and all (as cute as a cartoon girl can be at whatever age she was), but she's probably not as popular as andy was, so i don't think people would be as interested. could be wrong, obviously |
@Tiger: It's PIXAR. Everything they make produces massive amounts of money, Monsters Inc., Up, Wall-e, Cars, Finding Nemo, etc. they make money with the epic art they make, there is absolutely no need for them to be sellouts in the foreseeable future.

i'm actually half-joking about a sequel. i just think it could be slightly possible because the film is the first animated film to make over a billion dollars in the BO. and monsters inc and cars are both having sequels done. i don't want them to make a toy story 4, i'm just saying that it COULD happen. it's not everyday a film makes a billion dollars, let alone animated ones |
