Nope, he's that kind of geeky guy that has plenty of friends, and has plenty of fun. I don't think he needs a girlfriend, and I doubt he'd want one if he were real (that's right kids, SpongeBob don't really exist. Oh crap, Santa all over again).

No, he doesn't need one. If this show is targeted at a young audience, then why make a love interest? Seems pointless, plus there's Sandy, which is the closest thing he has to a gf. Yea, it'd put a stop to the gay rumors, but then they'd have to juggle a new character that comes right out of the blue, and since this show doesn't have a recurring plot (besides SB trying to get his license), it wouldn't make sense to introduce a new character. The only way it'd happen would be in a movie (like with the Rugrats, introducing Dil, have Chuckie's dad get married... everything that happened in the movies was canon.) It just seems like too much work for the writers to go through when they can't even keep up with the characters they already have.

If we're gonna do pairings I think SpongeBob needs Squidward, they were made for each other. Seriously, Squidward and SpongeBob is the ultimate slash pairing. there's obvious signs you can see in the show that SpongeBob likes Squidward. SpongeWard/SquidBob rulez!

There's nothing gross about SpongeBob and Squidward being attracted to each other. I always loved the idea of SpongeBob always hanging around Squidward all the time. Squidward always hating on SpongeBob could secretly mean he's in love with him like Helga Pataki in Hey Arnold! There could still be a future episode where Squidward admits his true feelings towards SpongeBob, there' some evidence showing that in Graveyard Shift when The Hash Slinging Slasher is about to come in the Krusty Krab, and Squidward says: "SpongeBob, no matter what I've said, I've always sort of liked you!" I think SpongeBob and Squidward liking each other adds a nice spicy addition to the show, it'd be interesting seeing SpongeBob SquarePants be like another Brokeback Mountain.

Yeah, like any sibling hatred, he loves him deep down. And by love, I hope no immature 9-year-olds laugh at that and say, "haha, Squidward is gay

People are already saying SpongeBob is Gay face it SpongeBob and Squidward were meant to be together from the start. SpongeBob, Patrick, and Squidward can all be one happy man threesome and form their own new The Village People band.

So you're mad just because I like the SquidBob pairing. I think both Squidward and SpongeBob are feeling down now that people are frowning on them for liking each other. It's okay Squidward and SpongeBob, you don't have to hide your secret true love. SpongeBob and Sandy just don't go together, a sea sponge (sea creature) and a land squirrel (land creature) just don't mix, but a sea sponge clinging onto a Squid fits like a hand inside a glove.

Do you know how many people would be emotionally scarred if that ever happened?

No I'm not Gay but I am a Virgin. And I also tend to like certain slash pairings, and Squidward and SpongeBob happens to be one of them. There's nothing wrong with me and there's nothing wrong with SpongeBob and Squidward going all Brokeback Mountain on each other, Straight relationships may be normal, so if gay relationships are abnormal then sometimes life needs some crazy abnormal things happening, not all abnormal things are bad. I think SquidBob is a good match, but to be appropriate for kids they could just date each other or hang around a lot together. Besides there's some friends I know from school that don't find anything wrong with gay relationships, and seem to be into them. Sometimes not all relationships are meant to be straight, no matter how wrong the pairing sounds. I'm sure many more love secrets in Squidward and SpongeBob towards each other will be revealed in future episodes. Look at how much evidence was revealed in 20,000 Patties Under The Sea.

lol, ok, I'm gonna have to defend Princess_Toph on this one, because I've never hidden the fact I think SpongeBob is gay or the fact I think there's something wrong about that, although taking it to an episode would be much too far, like an obvious love confession between SpongeBob and say, Squidward, but are there hints? yes, plenty, even more than Spandy. All what I'm trying to say is that I too sort of like SquidxSponge and hate me, I don't care, I've never have, I can't explain how or why I like 'em, but there's just some chemistry between them that I can't help but like *cough makes fun fanarts and fanfics*

Now, talking on the reasonable side, I would hate it actually happening on an episode, and of course it'll never will, and since I have this obsession of making SpongeBob fall in love with something...or someone (we saw the "something" (Patty) and it wasn't pretty) then I would love to see him getting a girlfriend in at least one episode, not saying it should be continuous, but with Sandy or not, they should give him a love interest for once, it would be cute.
