Even though the title says girlfriend, someone can easily work around the title and say no, SpongeBob doesn't need a girlfriend, but instead he needs a good old boyfriend like Squidward. Again you guys are slamming poor SquidBob again and saying it's gross and disturbing, but I think there's nothing wrong with gay relationships like SquidBob, sometimes slash pairings are meant to happen in a tv show, even if it is a cartoon show aimed at little kids. Again I'm sure little kids already saw those signs of SpongeBob acting gay towards Squidward like in 20,000 Patties Under The Sea, and if they already saw that and got the reference, and no viewers caused any heavy commotion about it, then there should be nothing wrong with an episode where Squidward and SpongeBob start liking each other, and smiling, and wanting to hang out together at places a lot more. Even if SpongeBob is supposed to be asexual, and sea sponges in real life are like that, SpongeBob SquarePants is a cartoon, where anything can happen, even something as abnormal as a sea sponge not being asexual anymore and starting to like a walking Squid.

I like SpongeBob and Squidward too...AS FRIENDS!

But, to get back to the topic. If SpongeBob did need a girlfriend, he would most likely get Sandy. She is the only girl who actually likes SpongeBob back. SpongeBob even showed signs of liking her too, such as Ripped Pants, A Flea in her Dome, and A Random Act of SpongeBob where he secretly gave her a boquet of flowers and a note saying she was the smartest and prettiest squirrel in Bikini Bottom.

personality i agree with you being a homo is not for little kids to be learning about or watching so its very gross & is for more adults as kids plus little kids dont understand gay humor therefore there shoudn't be a gay relationship on a kids show

My advice, Princess_Toph, save it for the fan-fiction . Your posts show that you actually hope/expect that Nickelodeon will pair SpongeBob and Squidward. It went past opinions a while ago, now you seem to be looking forward to it. So here are some things for you to take note of.

    1. SpongeBob was stated to be asexual. Enough said.
    2. SpongeBob showed signs of attraction towards a Krabby Patty. (Although you stated that can just be ignored since it was a non-living object, point 1 should already cancel the possibility of SpongeBob dating Squidward.)
    3. In That's No Lady, Squidward shows signs of attraction towards a female... well, it was actually Patrick, but he didn't know that. So to him, it was attraction towards a female.
    4. In Squid Bob Tentacle Pants, Squidward imagines girls cheering him on, and then they all carry him. He seems to enjoy it.
    5. Nickelodeon is against showing homosexuality. I remember hearing in a Nick show, an episode was banned because it showed a girl/girl couple. But don't totally trust me on this one because I don't know the series, I just remember hearing something like it.

Lastly, SpongeBob is just a child, so that and point 1 are all that is needed to cancel the possibility of the pairing... Yeah, he did say he liked Squidward, but young people say stupid things often . If a child walked up to a guy and said he liked him in a goofy tone, I might not believe it.

And on the 1% chance that Squidward happened to be gay then come on, do you really think he'd like SpongeBob? Someone who bugs him to death? Think about that and the pairing seems all the more silly.

So basically, the evidence of them not liking each other is 10x's greater than the evidence of them liking each other.

    ---

Anyway, as for the topic, like I said, SpongeBob is asexual, and is fine remaining that way.

Well...reading the entire three pages of this thread may have emotionally scarred me for life. Despite what SpongeBob says or does, I don't take his obession with Squidward or any other bizarre things about him as a sign of his being gay Stephen Hillenberg, his CREATOR, stated that he is asexual, so I'm going to agree with his intent. IMO, it would be cute if SpongeBob had a girlfriend, preferably Sandy or a female sponge. But, since he is asexual, single, and perfectly happy that way, he doesn't actually NEED one, so I don't care either way. The show can still survive without giving SpongeBob a mature relationship, and the one real couple that exists on this show provides enough of romance and excellent episodes that there is no need for any more couples or romance references on this show.

Anyway, as for the topic, like I said, SpongeBob is asexual, and is fine remaining that way.

You guys are probably all thinking: "Has Princess Toph given up?" Well No i have not! The fact about Nickelodeon being against homosexuality always has the possibility of changing in the future. And I don't know what you mean by an actual Nick show saying an episode was banned about girls being together, it would had to have been news about Nick written in the news section of a newspaper or told somewhere in the past on the news on a tv channel. After all the fact Nick still being against homosexuality to this day could be just a rumor. Nick at Nite can also be more daring since some shows are for older people too, and not just kids. And you're clearly wrong about SpongeBob being a child, in the episode Sleepy Time, his license shows his date of Birth which is July 14th, 1986 if I remember correctly. Whether its in real life or in the tv show, he should be 23 years old right now. So SpongeBob just acts like a kid and is one at heart. Sometimes children don't know what they're saying, but I think a young adult always knows clearly what he or she's saying, and says what he wants to say around certain people. So I think that proves SpongeBob meant what he said about him liking Squidward in 20,000 Patties Under The Sea.

Even if SpongeBob has been hanging around with Sandy, ever since season 4 Sandy's been shown less, and there's been a few signs every so often that SpongeBob likes Squidward, so that means I'm getting the feeling the new writers in charge and with Stephen Hillenburg still stepped down in his position, want to not have SpongeBob remain asexual and be homosexual and have an attraction towards Squidward. Again sea sponges in real life may be asexual, but SpongeBob SquarePants doesn't have to be asexual in a cartoon show, anything can happen, with even something as crazy as SpongeBob being a huge fan of Squidward. Stephen Hillenburg may say and want SpongeBob to be asexual, but that doesn't mean the new writers and producers can change that around and make the show more abnormal with SpongeBob being attracted to someone like Squidward. It all depends on what the producers and writers are currently that are working on making new SpongeBob episodes right now, and I'm sure they can find a way to make SpongeBob and Squidward liking each other as appropriate and subtle as possible so the kids and parents won't get so freaked out.

And finally, Squidward could still secretly love SpongeBob just like SpongeBob secretly loves Squidward. Squidward just does a much better job at hiding it, and even if he his getting all mad and frustrated about SpongeBob bugging him so much, and said one time that he's the bane of his existence, it still doesn't change the fact that he still could be saying and doing all of that to cover up his most deepest darkest secrets that are his true feelings of him like SpongeBob.

Face it anything is possible in a cartoon show, there's the saying nothing's impossible. And I think SpongeBob ending up hanging around with Squidward and them liking each other always has the chance of becoming possible.

And I think SpongeBob ending up hanging around with Squidward and them liking each other always has the chance of becoming possible.

you don't understand a joke now, do you.

THey put that in for COMEDIC EFFECT. You're really starting to scare me.

You're missing the point. When I said SpongeBob is a child, I didn't mean literally. And you shouldn't put your trust in that one license. In the movie he had 374 Employee of the Month awards in a row. Add that to the ones he got in Breath of Fresh Squidward, which I believe is over 1,000, and SpongeBob is easily over 100 years old. So in short, this show isn't good with dates, and I trust you won't believe them.

Anyway, I think I am done arguing here. It seems that you aren't ready to accept the fact that they won't date each other, so there's nothing more that I, or anyone else, can do.

So on topic... SpongeBob: single for life!
