Actually the creators have said (read the blog) that the culmination and final battle will take place at the end of season three: Fire.
Think of it this way: the only airbender in the entire series (barring flashbacks) is Aang, which the entire show is about. Water showed the Water Tribe society (bound by tradition), Earth is showing how the Earth Kingdom works (like an Ostrich in the sand), Fire shows the inner workings of the Fire Nation (expantionist). Why do they need a chapter on Air if there is no scociety left to show?

While I think you're right, an idea for Air might be Aang trying to rebuild and repopulate the temples. I guess what I'm saying is I don't want Avatar to end in three seasons

I'ld love to see Iroh and Zuko teach Aang. While a new character could be introduced in the time they have left (I assume that there is going to be the books of Fire and Air as seasons 3 and 4), Zuko will almost certainly join the team within that time. Why though will probably be as result of a huge emotional turmoil as Zuko finally realises his father for the true monster he is. Plus he's going to defeat his father and Azula in the final battle.

And repeat what I said before. If the final battle is at the end of the next season, they have no time to introduce a new character and tell about him, all the while, training Aang, and planning the steps to the war.

For some reason I truly believe Azula has no desire for the throne. I think she's just doing what 'Daddy' has ordered her to do. And she hates Zuko, so that's no problem. For who's gonna teach Aang the next element, I believe it's not gonna be Zuko. I mean at age 17 he hasn't mastered his own element? While Aang mastered air, and Katara at 14 or whatever age she is, and Toph at 12. Zuko needs to learn lightning and maybe blue flames...But I think it's either gonna be Iroh or in some twist of faith, it's gonna be Azula. Or it could be just some random dude. Maybe there will be a fifth member to the A-team.

He HAS mastered basic firebending, it's just the advanced stuff that he doesn't know. Besides, I didn't see Jeong Jeong do blue fire, and he's considered a Master. Blue fire and lightning don't seem to be a prerequisit for attaining the master level. It's kind of like the difference between a masters degree and a doctorate.

And while I agree that Azula doesn't seem to want the throne, I think that's more because she likes to fight than anything else.?? Which is why she's doing what she's doing, not to just please her father (but that is part of it).

If I remember correctly, on the first episode, Uncle said he needed to learn the basic form first or w/e. Of course, NOW he has mastered the basics, but I still can't see him as Aang's teacher--more like a rival. For example, having Aang and Zuko face off to see how much Aang has mastered firebending under his tutilege. Forgive me, but I've not seen Jeong Jeong--I watched Avatar on it's first season finale. Like at the very very very end. I also said, "maybe blue flames," I didn't say he had to bend blue flames--Uncle doesn't. As for the lightning part--you may be right.

Also with Azula, yep I agree with you there. I'm not JUST saying it's to please ol' Ozai.(I just didn't type it.) She does love fighting and being Fire Lady would be boring.

It all depends on how this season ends up. In his fight with Jet, Zuko had small wisps of blue fire at the end of his swords. Perhaps he has gotten strong enough to learn it.

Presumably, though, Aang's teacher would probably be Iroh; he's the strongest firebending master. Jeong Jeong was very obscure and I don't see him coming back after Aang refused to listen to him and learn the basics. Azula is a sociopath and is hunting Aang.

However, how this season shapes up will determine whether or not Zuko or Iroh is the most likely candidate. Remember that Zuko himself could handle Azula. Her ability to use lightning comes from the fact that she is cold-hearted and can bend without emotion: which is simple for her because she is a sociopath: she has no consideration for anyone else. The fact that Iroh could bend lightning despite being considerate of his son and nephew speaks highly of his talents. Perhaps, after another fight with Azula, Zuko will be strong enough.

come to think of it. how do Aang repopulate the temples? by recruitment? and if ever Aang dies, the cycle of the Avatar will be broken. what will happen next?

I don't want the series to end in just three seasons either...Avatar is too much of my favorite show just for it to end in three seasons

Zuko has mastered his element enough to teach Aang, and Azula is too cold-hearted to just do what daddy says do. She's her daddy's little girl, and she's as psyhcopathic as he is. She probably has a lust for power too, which seems to accompany her kind of attitude.

PS. Maylene, which picks were you talking about? Sesshomaru, Naruto & Hinata, or Naruto & the 4th Hokage? (I have a lot of cute pics on my sig. ) I get all of them from photobucket.com. And I love all my pairings!

Yes, I love HinataXNaruto. Way over NarutoXSakura. If Sakura's with anybody, it'll be Sasuke. But I think he's going to die, like a tragic hero, you know? Besides Hinata loves Naruto for who he is, she just needs to get over her shyness.

Why is there a Naruto discussion in the Avatar forum? Perhaps it belongs in a blog or the Naruto forum.

To respond to the topic of the thread - I've already stated my thoughts on this in the countless other threads in this forum??asking this same question, so there's really no need to state them again.

Let me pro/con it with what we know of now, likely I will update it when another one of these dam threads appears.

    Azula:

Pro: She is in the right age range to join the "Gaang" (which consists of adolescents and fury creatures) and she is a very extremely proficient fire bender.

Con: Apparently she is hell spawnishly evil, though it is not impossible or even original that she will switch sides someday, there is no sign of this at present.

    Iroh:

Pro: He is wise and lovable and proficient in fire bending

Con: He is not in the age range, also if he is teaching aang zuko will likely be with him so it will likely be that both zuko and iroh would be teaching aang not just iroh.

    Zuko:

Pro: He is an antihero and likely to turn to the side of good and he in the right age range.

Con: He is not completely proficient at fire bending, though he is aware of the techniques. Also to make him join aang would likely mean events would happen that would kill iroh and cut zuko???s connection to his father (azula kills iroh, zuko swares revenge?)

    Jeong Jeong:

Pro: he already trained aang a little.

Con: not the same age range, nor has there been any talk or sight of him since the first season.

    New character:

Pro: the sky the limit to what the parameters could be.

Con: It is questionable that it would be safe to make a new main character this late in the series, Toph did work but it may be hard to add more.

Although I don't know if he'll show up again. He is still on every wanted poster shown in the series.

Personally, I'm with the crowd that wants Zuko and/or Iroh to teach him.

i think that Iroh will end up seeing aang in ba seing sei and then he will teach aang??some firebending without Zuko knowing. then later Zuko will find out and oppose the idea. then Iroh will be killed by Azula, and grudgingly Zuko will teach aang everything he knows about Firebending. then they will part ways and aang will see Jeong Jeong again or that boy who was with Jeong Jeong in "the desserter" and he will take them to Jeong Jeong.

Or , Jeong Jeong will be dead and Aang will have to learn from some spirit thing
