Its seems that it wouldn't be very far out of the realm of possibility for guns. They already have grenades and locomotives even gas powered tanks. How would characters react to them? Would they be broken in power? Who would make them first? Would Nick aprove? What do you think. Probably either FN or the inventor would build them.

I made one in my blog post about the isignia the FN will most likely make it first and use them to conquor the EK.

Guns? Absolutely not! That would take away so much from the show. I, for one, enjoy watching the martial arts! Think about it: would you prefer to see Zuko and Jet fight for like??5 minutes with swords and bending, OR would you want to just have Zuko shoot Jet's head off in 5 seconds?
Plus, it would make it so much easier for characters to be killed. If Azula had shot Iroh in the chest with a gun rather than lightening, he'd be done for. All anybody would have to do is shoot somebody in the back and the fight's over. No fancy animation, just BOOM.

Like what Brian said, I'm sure the Fire Nation would be the first to invent guns, given their skills in metal. But I don't want guns. I like how this show is placed in a time period before major technology was invented.

But who needs guns it doesn't make the show any more mature lightning is already like a gun anyway but I love martial arts better.

The thing is that it wont be full auto guns and modern weapons, we are talking about matchlock's and the arquebus. Meaning you get one shot then you either fight or try to reload before you are overran. I could see guns being used in a major battle but only for the skirmish.

Unless they did it all John Woo style with people flying all over shooting and hitting nothing but air. But if there are guns then it wont be anything like that, again it would be anything like that, it will be matchlock's and the arquebus, and that would look very silly.

Yep but guns have been invented fo quite awhile but tanks are more recent compare to them but who cares we have Avatar and it's better without it.
