I'm so upset it's over. Although people are saying there is more to come, idk. Cuz this was my total guilty pleasure, and the only cartoon i still watched. Total throwback here, but when the series first started i was in 6th grade (now im going into 11th) and like me, this girl katie, and former friend Chrissy used to go over eachother house and have "avatar fridays" and like assaign eachother to a character and we were just crazy. I used to write all the fanfictions and stuff ahahah. Then i stopped watching it for a while, because i though i was too cool for it lol (life in the fastline), then i watched all the episodes i missed, and now this! Lots of tears.

Let's face it: If it was on a different network it would've been different: darker, mature, 'you name it'. But there still is lots of potential. But I'm glad the way it ended, no misunderstandings, no confusion. I think NICK cut their losses before the show got too far out of control. I think the term 'jump the shark' describes my point. We all enjoyed a show that was by far the best animated show on NICK- Let's appreciate the qualities (please add more if you wish) -good story -good amount of episodes -Good Character development -Great art, drawings, animation etc -Great voice acting -Good conclusion. If you're a collector (of any age) its worth buying. I think everyone involved in the production of this show deserves a big THANK YOU. So...THANK YOU AVATAR....I enjoyed the ride.

Mostly agreed. Except for the fact that ending was completly cliche and they took the easy way out.

BEST CASE SCENARIO: Avatar comes back with a great story and the same great characters with a whole new problem...And to top it all off...its airing on ADULT SWIM!!!

MIDDLE CASE SCENARIO: Avatar returns on...NICK with an epilouge and mini series of the adventures of the GAang after OZai's defeat. Azula heals and EVERYTHING is resolved.

WORST CASE SCENARIO: the creators are killed in a fiery plane accident that was caused by unknown bursts of fire/water/earth/air. AVATAR IS NO MORE!!!!

Sokka is like 16! Mos' def not too young. Holy crap. How much would you have loved if one of the character had an affair, but it didn't turn into a freaking zutara love story. No, like just a one-night stand.

that would have been really juicy and a little bit mature for the kiddies, sheesh. But I wonder who it could be. Aang, no way 'cause he's Aang, the peace man. Toph, she's blind, point taken. It would have to be either Suki or Zuko, not Katara, 'cuase she's goody goody girl.

Ohhh but katara had so much potential to be a more dark and mature character. Remember how she got all evil and devolved and only wanted revenge? They could have kept her kinda dark. It woudl have worked. Yeah and the fight scenes werer good as they are.

I definitely think they should've made her darker. Her mother was killed! She should be more violent towards the Fire Nation. I don't know if anyone reads Pendragon, but I wish she was more like Spader towards Saint Dane. I know, I'm really cool for reading the series But once I start I just can't stop.

Good point. Her mother was killed and she was improsined and family-less and starving and mistreated. It was actually unrealistic for her "breakdown" to be so civil!!!!!!!!!!

Because that is the that US tv tends to be...we (supposedly) abhor vigilantism. We are to believe that justice will prevail and the evil-deed-doer will be punished. (yeah, right and I have some prime investment property on the moon I would be willing sell to anyone who believes that). That is the way all TV based shows/movies tend to go because it is a socially acceptable belief....Justice instead of revenge.

    Ok...on to the next subject....
I have a question. When did Azula start losing it? Was there any foreshadowing in a previous episode? (I missed the first part of the Southern Raiders and was wondering if there was any hint there).
Sure, Mai saved Zuko, and Ty-Lee attacked Azula to keep Mai and Azula from killing each other (which understandably Azula sees as betrayal to the point of treason)...but still, I wouldn't think that one issue alone enough to turn Azula in to a slobbering, hair cutting, loppy make-up crazy girl.

Others have said that even she needed love...but she DID have love. She was the apple of her daddy's eye. Let's face it, from all the flashbacks from early childhood...she was a natural born sociopath (like her daddy). People like that don't look for love, they look for people to use. Let's face it, in cartoons and in real life, some people are just plain evil.

I read on wiki that they were gonna like restart the series with a different character as the avatar. I don't know how true this is but i really really hope not. And the worst case scernerio sounds like the perfect mystery for LOST lol. OHHH god.

Hmmm well, she was betrayed by her brother kinda again. And she was never really the apple of her father's eye, she really had to strive for perfection. Wouldn't it be interesting if she had some sort of mental disease, or acute paranoia. Maybe she does? Idk much about mental diseases expect for OCD.

That would be horrible..everyone is too used to the original characters. The only solutions are have a little mini-series that resolves all the loose-ends. Continue the story of Zuko rebuilding the world and Aang keeping the world safe, possibly taking a Roku-Sozin plot twist. Have a series on the time before Aang, the time that led up to the 100 year war, ending the series with Aang being born. Or having a series based on the GAang all grown up...even though rugrats all grown up didn't do so good. That's all I can come up with though. Those are the only logical explanations I could come up with based on the information given by Bryke or w/e their name is...

I would have been ok with Aang defeating Ozai, but the way he did it seemed like all the conflicts just magically were resolved while Aang had to give nothing up in the process.

If you really think about, Aang almost gave up his life by trying to use the new soul-bending technique. If he wasn't so COMPLETELY pure, then he would've been destroyed. Or turned into an evil side kick He risked his life, and the life of his friends, to help conquer Ozai. I think that's giving up enough. But that's kind of why I wanted Toph to die. It would seem like the stakes were much greater.

Haha, but of course, Nick didnt want to make the little kids sad who loved Toph.

LMAO, the 'LOST' reference was funny. Lets not be too critcal of the show's ending. We have to remember it is a KIDS show. Lets save the criticism for shows like 'LOST'.

If there are any fture plans for more avatar series, episodes, movies, etc, then I can't wait to see them. I'm going to start catching on th episodes I missed.

Her brother was always her rival. She never trusted him and knew she never had him in her control...except for trickery on her part.

She betrayed her brother on more than one occassion, and used him as a scape goat...so I don't see how he could betray her. Excepting maybe that she never calculated that he would ever become a firebending master....which could have unhinged her a little when she found out he was her equal (different methods...but equal in power)

I hope this makes sense??? Just listen to that part and you will actually hear the drums getting louder and it reminded me of something from a battle scene where the warriors are preparing to fight --> as in, if we follow the music, it builds and crescendoes but just suddenly cuts off as it ges to the final scene of the finale. Man I don't know if this made any sense whatsoever but I'm posting it anyway...

i totally agree. my friends and i were like wtf?
Me: they should have like a spin-off thing and call it Zuko and the mother search.
My friend: its a mother of a search!

That part was the only thing that got me mad. if they never showed zuko asking ozai about his mom then it would have been perfect. or if he asked and got an answer, it would have been perfect also.

It was Mai and Ty Lee's betrayal that set her off, presumably because her ability to terrorize others into submission failed and she couldn't process that. Azula's life is completely about power and control, and failure (because of her hated brother, no less) broke her brain. She's actually not very resilient, it seems.

In the first scene of "The Southern Raiders", Azula attacks the Western Air Temple with airships. She yells out to Zuko that she's "about to celebrate becoming an only child". This kind of morbid viscousness is usual for her, but her tone of voice was semi-frantic as opposed to the cold and sharp delivery she's always used before. She definitely sounded like she was losing her grip.

Speaking of Ty Lee...what a waste of a character. Never did anything other than comic relief, and some good combat choreography. The only development she got was in "The Beach"...an episode so leaden with melodrama I suspect the whole thing was a joke.

I got into this show rather late, only in the last few months but it was interesting while it lasted. The ending...well, I dunno. I guess the producers watched a lot of Kung Fu movies because that is usually the only way to stop the bad guy short of killing him (and that happened in almost every film)...breaking his kung fu. And unlike Chinese or Japanese film, you aren't going to see them kill the kids (kids show or no). How many anime series have I watched over the years where at least one of the heroes dies at the end? Way too many to count. But there are some loose ends to use for another series. What do you expect? The company to just fold up shop once the show is over? Heck no! You now have a lot of paychecks to make out and mouths to feed, so you have to keep it going. I just hope they can produce something else as good as this show. And at some point this will become a live action film. If it's happened to Dragonball, this will end up going the same way. Now that should be fun....
