ya but where do the trees come into play? i thought there was no rock/dirt

No, there was. The weird platform Aang had stood on wasn't made of Earth. Everything else was.

Ok, so even if the other avatars weren't "worthy" what about the other air nomads who had achieved a state of inner enlightenment or whatever the Air Avatar said? They were more spiritually enlightened than Aang and yet the turtle didn't appear to them. Also, the turtle didn't "reveal" himself to Aang, Aang had to 1. swim onto him, 2. spend (2?) days just wondering what he was doing, and 3. swim around to find its head.
The turtle might've appeared to past Avatars. We only went back four generations. Aang was possessed. He didn't know where he was. The turtle brought him there.

maybe he went to the turtle subconciously cuz he was so stressed about if he should kill the firelord or not....

Then his body wouldn't have left the house.

Yes it would. Subconciously and spiritually are two very different things.

And although this isn't in the actual story, I would have to imagine they did have the same conflict when the fire nation invaded them and started slaughtering. Should they defend themselves and kill the fire nationers? Wouldn't that basically be the same conflict?
No, because Aang was the Avatar at that time. He was frozen during that period.
I believe he was referring to the monks conflict.

His wound (where Azula has blasted him) was struck. If I remember correctly that wound was about even with his solar plexus. The yellow solar plexus chakra, Manipura, controls power and will. Rather appropriate, then, that its blockage would have blocked the Avatar State. Although I suppose if any of the chakras had been blocked, it would have inhibited AS.

Sorry, just thought I'd throw that in.

Lmao. And I thought I was obsessed.

Well, Religious Studies (mainly Hinduism and Buddhism) is one of my majors, so whenever chakras, third eyes, gurus etc. are mentioned on these boards, I just start spewing information.

That must SERIOUSLY come in handy with this show. Ahahahaa.

I don't think it was anyone we've met, and it might not've been a Fire Nation man.

I'm not really sure about this, but can you do something subconciously when you're not awake? Because I don't think Aang was really all there when he swam to the turtle.

Yeah, sometimes. But there is a lot of Tao and Shinto influence in the show and I don't have that much experience with them.

Yes, your subconcious works without you being aware of it, like sleepwalking, or when you're in a trance like Aang was.

You can do something subconciously when you're not awake. Dream, sleep walk, or in this case go to giant lion-turtles =D
