I'll probably have to put my flame shield on for this one, but honestly, I was a bit disappointed with the finale. With all the build up with Aang stressing over how he was going to defeat the fire lord without killing him, to have the Lion Turtle just come in randomly and give him a way out seemed like a cop out by the creators because they couldn't have Aang kill anybody considering its made for nick, which is a children's network. Another thing that makes me question the Lion Turtle is that the Avatars have been around for thousands of years, and the ones that Aang recalled when he was on the Turtle, Roku, Kyoshi, and the air and water ones, had no idea what the turtle was. In all their thousands of years the creators want you to believe that NONE of the avatars in the past came into contact with a giant floating island? |
It was not a cop out because Aang couldn't kill anyone according to Nick. People have died in this series. But you've got to realize throughout the whole entire show Aang has been against violence. It's the Air Nomad's way of life. This didn't suddenly come out of nowhere. The Lion Turtle was a mystery to the other Avatars, IMO, because they weren't worthy of his presence. Each one was ridiculously willing to take out a life without a second thought. Aang knew better, his soul was more pure. That's why the Lion Turtle Revealed itself.
