I don't see Jeong Jeong having the coldblooded nature that lightning bending requires. |

I do not think that Zuko is a firebending master. 1)He was still in training before he was seperated from his uncle 2)He always lost against Azula 3)When did Katara become a waterbending master? 4)Just because he was in the royal family, doesn't mean that he is a master firebender. If you remember from some of the flashback episodes, his father was ashamed of his firebending disabilities. 5)He can not make lighting. He can redirect it, but i don't remember him making it. |

Okay. This thread needs to die. Zuko is a master. Plain and simple. He beat Zhao, who is considered a master. He has had much more experience since then. Zuko is a master. Get over it. Nuff' said. /thread. |
Well, I guess this begs another Q: what constitutes a master?
Is it knowing a certain # of techniques?
Is it knowing a special technique?
Is it being able to beat someone who's considered a master?
Is it measured in skill or knowledge of the art?
Is Rosie O'Donald really a woman?

"Mastering firebending" and "firebending master" are not the same thing, but I think Zuko qualifies for both. In avatr, when people speak of having "mastered" an element they mean that whoever has mastered it now has superior abilty in manipulating said element. Pretty much every main character who can bend fits into this catagory. Every single time somone in the show uses the term "firebending/waterbending/earthbending/airbending/other master" they are refering to somone who teaches that element/other. Iroh, Jeong Jeong, Pakku, etc, were all refered to as masters because they were also teachers. When Pakku said Aang should star calling Katara "Master Katara", he was refering to the fact that she was going to be his teacher.Episode 304; 'Sokka's Master' basically translates to 'Sokka's teacher'. Episode 313 was called 'The Firebending Masters' because the dragons were instructing Aang and Zuko. Going back to Zhao, he's pretty old, it wouldn't be so surprising if at some point he had had a student of his own. It wouldn't matter if Zuko was the worst firebender in the avatar world (which he isn't), the fact that he is teaching firebending to Aang makes him Aang's Firebending Master. |
