For the Avatar: the last airbender guide in the similar shows for Avatar, I noticed that bulk of it is made up of Pokemon series and digimon. However in my opinion there is hardly any similarities between Avatar and these shows. This leads to my question, how is it actually decided which shows are similar to Avatar? Is there an option where we can have an influence in which shows are showed as similar?

I'm sure it mostly has to do with targeted age and animation styles.

Go to prefs at the top of the page, then click on the boards tab. There, at the bottom of the page, will be a place to edit your signature. You can't post any pictures, though, because you're not a level 3 yet.

I was thinking about this. Which element could bend glass? To me it's either earth or fire.
Most likely earth because all glass is is rapidly cooled lava/magma which is made out of earth.

but firbenders have been shown to control volcanos

Because a comet is out of the atmosphere and huge. The bigger question is how a comet, made up of rock and ice gave firebenders power.

That is a tricky question, but I think I have the answer.

Comets are bodies made up of ice and rock, that orbit the Sun, usually at perihelion which gives them their greatest flare, color, and exuberance.

Since firebenders get their power from the Sun, they can get power from comets. Since comets are closer to Earth and more visible, they get more power.

Well, it is surrounded by fire, or something like it, just like the sun.

I would surmise that the Avatarverse is different than ours. Comets in the Avatarverse may consist of fire. I have always maintained that the planet Avatar takes place on is not earth. You can tell by the weaker gravitational field the Avatar planet generates. Of course, this is all conjecture, but it is how I view it.

Remember what Firebending is: the manipulation of energy. In addition to the vast amounts of heat (energy) created by the friction of a comet entering the atmosphere, there is also the fact that the energy of a hurtling meteor is on a similar scale to that of several thousand atomic bombs. That is a lot of energy for firebenders to manipulate.

No, a comet is made of rock, ice and frozen gases. It is unlikely that it would be suitable.

Contradictory factor is that Sokka did make a sword blade out of the meteoroid that fell to earth in the episode Sokka's master. Therefore I don't see why they can't make a sword out of the comet if it fell to the earth. Many meteoroids and comets contains traces of metals as well as rock, ice etc.

I think that the planet that Avatar takes place on is in fact Earth, but has its own Laws Of Physics....

The Avatarverse can be drawn the same parallel as star wars, the human society has been given a "supernatural" ability, and their environment has been changed to accomodate ; space with star wars, and the four nations with avatar. I could be grapsing at straws, but this is how I rationalize the show in my head

I havent been on the boards in a few weeks, mostly due to the fact that all my summer family vacations take place in mid to late August before I head back to school...

I missed everyone, and the conversations, and things havent changed a bit ! Unfortunately, I dont have time to add my own two cents to every thread from the past two weeks that I have missed, because Im off to the Jersey Shore for my last hoorah before I start my senior year of highschool !

Ill be sure to check in again the week of Sept. 8th, when I get back from all the fun Im having ! I cant wait until all this stuff is over, and I can become an active poster again !

We cannot let the Avatar Community be out of the top 3 for participation! Come on everyone !

    See you in September !

go to www.en.wikipedia.org and look up:
"Avatar: The Last Airbender" and go to the list of episodes to the right, then scroll down to the bottom of the page, the release dates are right there.
