    I just read that Southern Raiders is about Katara's mother. And if the hug scene is in there, it suggests simply an emotional moment. Damn... Still, I don't want to give up just yet on Zutara. I just... something about Katara and Aang never clicked with me, and the fact that for them to be together after their relationship has developed over all this time just doesn't add up with the fact that Katara has never spoken of any interest in such a relationship. I don't like dramatic revelations of love like that, as they leave me feeling unsatisfied (you know, the heiroine revealing her never-openly suggested feelings to the hero before he dives deep into a battlefield). At least Zuko and Katara are just starting their deepening relationship, it wouldn't be as weird for them as I feel it would be weird for Kataang. And there is one fact that has never escaped my mind concerning Aang, and that is that the Fortune Teller from way back did not see a girl in his future (this kind of bothers me more than pleases me. Even though I don't think Katara is the love of his life, I don't want him to end up alone...) Still, maybe that fact will be overlooked, and the story will play out as one can expect...

    lot of new events, here we try to talk about new implications of the ships in ATLA.

    like the coming strong of George ship, and how BR probably affected the Zutara ship

    now my position has changed

    I can't see Zutara happen UNLESS Mai dies, and I don't like the idea of Bryke having Mai die, I now like her character strongly

    I think it depends on the next episode - yes, I admit that Maiko was pretty strong here (and much better than I thought it could be, lol), but as next episode seems to be Zuko's bonding episode with Katara (he's had one with everyone else), I still remain a zutarian. Hope is what my ship is based on, we ain't giving up yet! And yes, I agree. Mai is now awesome. I hope she shows up again, hurting zutara chances or not. I don't want her to just disappear into prison or whatever. She should show up again, hopefully kicking some more FN ass However, just to show what the rabids will say, Mai said that she and Zuko had broken up, meaning Maiko is over, continuing feelings or not. Also, we have no idea what she and Zuko spoke about - its obvious they both care about each other, but they could still have decided to break it off or whatever for some important reason *shrugs* Dunno, just tossing out some random bad defensive stuff And George forever! Its so sweet! And Suki pwns all!
    I wouldn't say their relationship is over. She might have said that line still out of bitterness to the note he left her. As we well know, Mai is a very sarcastic person, so she might feel saying something like that helps her coap with helping Zuko escape.
    hey, leave me to my blind zutarian bias Back to the "break-up preventing zutara" thing, technically, it doesn't have to. Maybe Zuko broke it off because he realised Mai's not the girl for him - his feelings aren't the same as hers or whatever. He can still care about her, but he might not necessarily love her. Oh, why am I posting in this thread? I should just go back to the spoiler topic and exclaim over all the action in this episode. So beats the shipping, lol (plus, i'm kinda fighting a losing battle here with the little material we have )
    Don't worry, I'm expecting a lot of Zutarian theories to be made once 316 is aired. I'll try and be prepared for what's coming, but as of right now, I'm going to shove Maiko down the necks of Zutarians.
    Lol, take your chance while you can! Seriously, I don't begrudge you guys this though - after all our theories saying BR would kill Maiko......seriously, do Bryke just leave everything open-ended, or is that just me? They torture us in every way then can, both in shipping and in general plots. They are evil!

    EDIT: Hey, where did the rest of my post go? Oh well, here it is again. Because Mai is in jail, Zuko seemed quite willing to leave her behind and whatnot, and because I severely doubt she'll be rescued, I'm saying Maiko is dead. Romance doesn't seem to be there on Zuko's side, and I'm saying its dead

    Watch me clutch at straws until July/when 316 airs. it will be amusing for the non-zutarians, thats for sure, lol.

    In my opinion I thought it was romantic of Zuko to protect her even though she doesn't need it.

    I can't believe I'm saying this, but Mai just went up a thousand notches in my book. Much like with Kataang, if Maiko happens, I got no issues with it, but I will still not like it as well as the idea of Zutara. Just my preference though. Mai actually cares about Zuko so it's all good. I still think it's odd that Zuko didn't want to go back and rescue Mai after seeing what she did to help them escape; however, the more and more I think about it, Zuko knows that Mai can take care of herself (he said as much when that guard came to protect her). Also, Mai has a lot of connections (dad's position, uncle is warden, etc), so he probably feels like she will be ok.

    I dunno, what does everyone else think?

    Guys, Maiko is going the way H/G went in Harry Potter. It's not over. Zuko just doesn't want to involve Mai the way Harry didn't want to involve Ginny.

    And by the way, all you guys talking about Mai and Ty Lee disappearing till the finale, think again! This is Avatar, not some random cliche TV show. There's a fair chance Mai and Ty Lee will appear again.

    wouldn't it be wild if what looks like the Zuko mom-finding mission is actually a rescue Mai and Ty Lee mission?

    If this story takes the cliche road, like I'm sadly expecting, Aang defeats the Firelord, Iroh and Zuko's Mother (I forget her name) reclaim their titles, Zuko and Mai get back together (I suppose I'm not as opposed to it as I was after TBR, still being a Zutaran though), Aand and Katara deepen their relationship (I'm not expecting an all-out I love you) and the team rides off into the sunset kinda-ending. However I'm hoping this story doesn't follow the cliche. While Mai did profess to loving Zuko, I get the feeling their relationship might be over ( from the way she said she's saving the jerk who dumped her). Still, I don't imagine seeing her again until the end, and I also don't imagine them getting back together (honestly I having trouble imagining Mai and Ty-Lee reappearing anymore than as a foot-note in the story, given the sense of finality on their parts at the end of TBR). As for what's going to happen between Zuko and Katara, I hate to admit it, but that's still up in the air (I'm going to hunt down Mike and Bryan if all they showed at NYCC was a trick to eventually piss off Zutarans...). Has she forgiven him? Honestly, from the way she's been letting him hand around Aang and everyone else, it's almost like she's forgotten her threat, which confuses me more than relieves me. Still, I can imagine their relationship blooming (And yes, I base that solely on the hug scene, which in my opinion was too deep for being simply friendly, though we really don't know enough about the situation to say yet). One scenario that I can imagine is that they do fall for eachother ( all possible Zutara moments considered), and Aang finds out about it and gets really mad (which is something I felt he was when I watched the trailer, with the whole angry-looks, giant-fireball, attacking everything display). Still, that would have to be after The Ember Island Players, and I'm not sure if there is anything after that beyond the finale. So, as much as I hate to admit it, everything remains up in the air... SUX! Damn you Mike and Bryan!

    WHAT!?!? Damn Mike and Bryan!?!? How could you say something so terrible? They have given us 55 episodes of pure win! Mike and Bryan should be praised not yelled at!

    George = Sokka + Suki.

    People thought Sukka and Soki sounded too much like their real names, thus George was formed.

    I guess they must have a very strong reason, to let Katara makes her decision between Aang and Zuko. I think they can still fall in love.

    For any newbies that don't know the shipping names (I'm not new. Go read my first blog.) here is a list of the main ships.

    Kataang=Katara+Aang

    Zutara=Zuko+Katara

    Tokka=Toph+Sokka

    George=Sokka+Suki

    Maiko=Mai+Zuko

    Those are pretty much the only ones we talk about here. There are some jokes like the Zuko+Aang ship and Taang (Toph+Aang), but nobody likes Taang.

    I know most of you know this but I just made it for new people that dont know shipping names.

    "I'm saving the jerk who dumped me."

    Pure win XD

    I really can't bring myself to like Mai. I don't know what it is (she kinda reminds me of myself: dark and sarcastic ). I thought it was really sweet that she risked a lot to save Zuko though, even saying that she loved him more than she feared Azula, which is essentially saying that she'd rather save the one she loved than avoid a lightning bolt in the ass.

    I think that this episode harmed Zutara's chances. Ty Lee and Mai will come back, of course they will. I think the show will have a clich?? ending where the obvious ships happen and that includes Maiko. After all, Mai said that she loved Zuko. The creators wouldn't just let that lie. The one question I do have, though, is why did Zuko leave Mai in the prison when the escape was happening? Surely if he loved her then he'd take him with her? I know that he's trying to restore balance and help the Avatar and whatever but still...

    Maiko has always been my preferred ship for Zuko after me finding my way into the Avatar world and *ahem*. Mai is just 1000000000x better now that we've seen her BR-ness. And she really does love Zuko I think, if she fights her best friend to keep him safe even after he dumped her.

    Zuko mentioned earlier in the episode that she's able to take care of herself. He also knows her fathers position and now knows that her Uncle is the warden of the highest security prison in the Fire Nation. He probably feels that she can get out of whatever she's getting into.
