So just because Aang is the awesometastic Avatar, Katara has to love him? Oh please. Your lack of an argument means I won the little shipping squabble.

    When did I say this?

The only thing remotely close to that is when I mentioned the guru's explanation of the Air Nomads love. I NEVER preach why Katara MUST love someone; actually read my posts instead of guessing what I mean.

    ok fine then

aang is not FUC*ING MATURE. kids cant be mature you idiot. damn. but did i not say that since this is FUC8ING fictional tv show that anyhting can happen? i already know that in ancient days girls married at the age of 16. um but is aang a girl? sure the guru said that love reincarnated itself from the nomads to katara. but doesnt love have many meanings? like friendly or motherly love? and hell yeah i can tell you that your info is bull. sheesh. and PLEASE give me some stories of kids out there doing amazing things that people twice, even three times their age cannot. i'd like to read that.

Stop taking the word "mature" into one context. It has multiple meanings for a reason. Go look it up in a dictionary if you must, but a kid can act mature. I never even mentioned marriage, I was pointing out that relationships were formed often during younger years. I like how you bring up that love has many meanings when you're stuck on one meaning of maturity. Sure, it could mean those loves too, but it still doesn't rule out true love. Most of what I say, I take directly from what is seen in the show, I'm sorry if you don't know how to comprehend things. Go ahead and state something I'm saying that's "bull", I'll give you proof to it, thus showing it's not "bull" as you seem to consider my thoughts. As for a kid doing something amazing...

    Here's a story for example: http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/04/21/tech/main550399.shtml

YES i did look up the dictionary for the word mature. and none of those apply to aang. and oh see! a kid can ACT mature. but IS aang really mature? no.

i know you didnt mention marriage. but you did mention engagement. doesnt that mean to be married? and seriously, i already said that since this is a fictional tv show, that younger relationships are probably formed because of the fact that the characters were written to be young and this show was meant to be targeted to kids.

in a realistic sense, from what i see in the show. aang said "i cant let katara go! i- i love her!" and since im certain that aang is becoming less immature but not MATURE, that aang does not know the true meaning of love. YET, i said that this is a tv show. so anything can f' ing happen.

i guess thats me then. i cant comprehend things. damn. i tend to defend my opinions. and of course im considering your thoughts you idiot. im obviously arguing with you arnt i? sheesh.

and you got to be kidding me with that story. a 13 yr old kid going into college? thats not mature you idiot. thats a child prodigy right there. how do YOU know that he is a really mature person?

Since that first day of college, Greg has shot up 13 inches - "5 feet 7," he says proudly - but his maturity and personal growth are much harder to quantify, said his mentor, psychology professor Michael Wessells.

Is it necessary to call someone an idiot several times?
Um...maybe to stop this argument with this: Technically Aang's 112...that makes him the pedo (had to put that)

    haha true dat.

The problem for me has never been the age difference betwen Aang and Katara, just simply HIS AGE! He's still a kid in the perspectives of most, and despite the level of responsiblity and importance placed upon him, he's still a kid. Does that mean he's not ready for such a relationship? Well... if I think about how I was when I was his age, the answer would be a resounding NO. I barely had a concept of how complicated such relationships were (and much of the childish crush perceptive wears off as you get older). So I guess the question is, can I picture him, a fun-loving prepubescent boy, in a deep, serious relationship? Considering I had a girlfriend when I was 12 and have one now, I can guarantee you that much changes in the short time span between 13 and 15 years , and even between 15 and 16, but not as much. So I guess the reason I've never been a Kataanger (and yes, I'm expecting it to happen despite bing a Zutaran), is because I see alot of myself in Aang when I was his age, and I remember quite clearly how different I felt about such things like having a girlfriend back then. I guess I just feel that Katara deserves someone more mature (like her) and understanding about relationships than Aang. Not that I want Aang to end up by himself! I just can't see him and Katara tying the not AS OF NOW. Maybe in two or three years, but right now I'm sure much of it is still over Aang's head. He loves Katara and has a crush on her, but I don't think he truly understands the depth pf such things right now. Honestly I think Mike and Bryan are taking this into account as well and are not planning on solidifying there relationship within the span of the rest of the season. I know, sux not knowing. Hope everyone's happy at the end of the series regardless.

Stop clouding the issue with logic and facts! If everyone were to be this reasonable, then this shipping war bonanza would be at an end and I'd have to go somewhere else for fun!
What's this? A Zutarian using Aang's age in a reasonable way? And one that I'm assuming Kataangers can't actually bash? Wow, I am impressed.

But yeah, age difference isn't the issue for me either - like spade749, its just Aang's age in general. I have 3 younger brothers, and the thought of the youngest (11, nearly 12-year-old) being completely and truly in love with someone is just WEIRD. I mean, i can understand him having crushes on people, even older kids (you look up to them and whatnot), but to imagine him being in deep passionate love with someone (particularly when he's not even a teenager yet)? I don't think so. He's simply not emotionally mature enough for anything beyond a crush.

And all those who argue "oh, they can just get married in the future or whatever" the fact remains that they would be starting a (serious) relationship NOW. Kissing/whatever or not, I still think its very weird for a 12-year-old to be in that situation. Aang wants a serious relationship (which does NOT mean he wants to have sex every 5 minutes, it just means he wants that deep connection and whatnot), but I just can't see it being possible at his age. He's just too young, Avatar or not. Sure he's grown up a bit and is maturing, but I don't see him as emotionally mature enough for the serious relationship he wants with Katara.

There. Have my 2 cents too (I spend way too much money on these topics....lol)

Kids have to grow up fast in wars. I can't imagine a 16 year old leading an army. I can't imagine a 14 year old girl terrifying grown men into subordination, or a 12 year old boy quite literally being the saviour of the world.

These kids are mature far beyond their wars, having your life ripped apart by war will do that to a person.

But those sort of things (young children saving the world and whatnot) happen all the time in anime - so we should try and think objectively (as difficult as it is for me and others ). Ash (pokemon) was 10. Sakura (cardcaptor sakura) was also about 10. Yugi Moto (YuGiOh) is 14. Digimon crew were also young (hell, TK was only like 8 at the beginning). Yes, those are the "kids shows", but thats what Avatar technially is - its aimed at children, so the main characters are children, to appeal to the target audience.

However, just because a kid is amazing, saves the world, kicks butt, and whatnot, does not mean they are any good at relationships, again proven by the above animes. So while they might do amazing things, and act in totally unexpected ways (From what we'd expect from kids that age in real life), their relationships don't tend to be all grown-up and serious like the way the kids act in battle. As for relationships in avatar, the only ones that have worked with deep reciprocating feelings are from the older characters (George and Maiko).

Hmm....don't ask where I'm going with this. Not sure myself. I think I'm just saying that kids might act out of the ordinary on anime, but tend to be pretty bad at relationships, particularly when younger. There. I'll be quiet now. (for awhile at least )

*snatches gun away* haven't you heard? we're going out now.

Well, I really like Sukka now, almost more than Kataang. I never knew Suki was so awesome. As for Maiko, well I'd say it's been strengthened. From the way Zuko looked when he was talking about her, to Mai explicitly saying that she loves him (which should appease the crazy!Zutarians, since everything has to be spelled out for them ), Maiko's pretty much endgame, unless Mai dies and I doubt that Zuko would just go to Katara after Mai dies. Or both Mai and Zuko could die together. They are somewhat similar to the tale of Oma and Shu.

Whether Maiko happens in the end, I'm not sure. Zuko cares for Mai, Mai loves Zuko. They have a deep relationship (which kinda felt like is started out of the blue at the start of the third season, which is probably why I don't like it as much as Zutara (don't hate it either...)) Also, I know this is nitpicking, but Mai kinda admitted to the end of their relationship since appearing in BR ("ripped out my heart" "saving the jerk who dumped me..." nothing that hinted at her still seeing a future between them...), despite saying she loves him. She never once gave him any direct confirmation of her feelings, despite saving them at the end. Like I said, nitpicking, we'll just have to see.

Also, in line with my theory that Mike and Bryan intend to leave all relationships concerning Aang, Katara, and Zuko open-ended (what about Toph! It makes as much sense for her to be with Sokka as it does Aang to be with Katara! I hate that they've strung her along as they have!) I'm expecting we'll see more tangible Zutara moments (I think I recall hearing something about Mike and Bryan putting in more future moments between Zuko and Katara that hint on attraction, but I can't remeber where), and more Kataang, but I'm predicting that nothing will be concrete in the end, bc MnB know how much it would anger entire groups of fans, as well as perhaps be a little inappropriate considering the show's nature and quickly-approaching end.

One thing I noticed that Zutarians say is that Maiko started out of the blue, yet it had foreshadowing showing that Mai liked Zuko and a comic showing that Zuko liked Mai.

Maiko out of blue = bad
Zutara out of blue = good?

See here's what's been bugging me from Zutarians that do this (not saying that you do since I really don't know): They complain about how Aangs too young to know what love is and yet they write Sakura/Syoran forever. Isn't Sakura AND Syoran younger than Aang?! Seriously either complain in both cases or don't. UGH! I think I saw that either in a forum or FF.net and it's been on the back of my mind.

To spacerac (its not letting me quote you for some reason): Aww, thanks for not letting him kill me *glares at blaster* And yeah, Sukka is pretty damn awesome

To Shaolina23: Well.....I am guilty of being in that category. However, in my defense, I liked Sakura/Syaoran originally in the English version where there was no declarations of love, and it was just a cute little crush. No passionate kisses, or massive love dramas (between those two at least ) at all! Which was great. However, I much prefer Sakura/Syaoran in love when they're older. They should just have been friends as kids - it was weird when I saw the japanese episodes and Syaoran said he loved/liked her. Not sure how I can defend myself here. Does context of the characters and relationships count? (as in, Aang's relationship with Katara, while being older, is a lot more about deep passionate love than sakura/syaoran?). I dunno. I'll just go back to my cookies now

Sakura/Syaoran = Sakura/Li from Cardcaptor Sakura (Syoaran Li (Japanese version) = Li Showron (English dub).

lol, hello to you too my dear. I go away for like 2 days and you already seem to miss me

Oh, ok. I used to watch cardcaptors a long time ago. I don't remember a thing about it now. Well except

    "Cardcaptors, a quest for adventure!
Cardcaptors, a quest for all time!"

Yeah, i did miss you. I was actually gone longer, because I hadn't seen TBR yet, until last night!

Don't worry, I think many avatards screamed, simply from knowing that episodes after FBM actually existed, and there was hope for future episodes to actually air

I screamed also (amidst much spazzing), but I'm a girl, so I don't worry about being less of a man Also, you guys probably already have low opinions of me (being a crazed zutarian and all, lol), so what does it matter?

I have um, "other" methods, of which allowed me to watch it o my tv for the first time... also that outside of school I didn't have any internet (until today, but it's painfully slower than I'm used to. )so Monday I had it and I didn't get to watch it, and Tuesday I didn't get to watch it, then Wednesday night I FINALLY watched it (instead of studying for my final the next day, but I still did good on it. I wanted to get watching TBR out the way so I wouldn't be distracted about it during the test)!! And it was made of awesome.

And yeah, you're loved, and there's the over zealous Zutarian rants. It's a little of both. And there's also that my Avatar is blue and yours is red.

Hey, I don't consider you a crazed Zutarian. Shoot, I was like "Oh, SUKI! GO TY LEE! GO MAI! GO SOKKA AND ZUKO! Azula, you suck! (but that rocket stuff was awesome)"

LOL! I didn't notice that! Is that why you changed it? Trying to convince me that you could accept Zutara so I won't run off on you?

And aww, I'm not a crazed zutarian? Wow. I always thought I was And yeah, I was screaming/squeeing my head off throughou BR too (suki is absolutely made of awesome, and Sokka/Zuko interactions are great! )

And yay! Now I have chocolate too. My day is complete
