Is the avatar dead? not aang but the avatar spirit? think about it, roku said that if the avatar died when he was in the avatar state, the avatar chain whould be broken. when azula atacked aang when he was in the avatar state, she might have killed him and brouht back to life by the water from the owasise. if this is the case, then was the avatar spirit brouht back???

But of course. The creators aren't evil enough to leave the story here and end the show.

Heh *has a little chuckle over the insane flurry of activity here*

    I'm just....WOW.

How is it possible to HATE and LOVE something so much???? How is it possible for this finale to be the BEST and WORST thing I have ever seen??

You all know the answer.?? This show is beyond belief.?? For me, anyways.

TOPH!!?? She's awesome!! XDD?? The one thing I don't have crazy mixed feelings over; her learning metalbending (lol...) is YAYFUL XDD!?? Oh, and Sokka and Hakoda moments were HEART, as well~

IROH!!?? He just pwns.?? Okay, no mixed feelings over him, really, cuz he's Iroh and he rules all.?? Just...so happy for him in the beginning...and so sad for him at the end!?? ;_; WHAT DOES IT TAKE...?

AZULA!!?? What the...well.?? Expected from our insane, manipulative, psychotic princess.?? O.o;; How did Katara get the best of her for a second there...

AANG!!?? WHAT...THE...O.O.?? I just....*screams in frustration*...CANNOT BELIEVE THIS KID.?? OMG.?? But what a decision...

    KATARA!!?? lOlz...entering the tea shop...yeah...fanfic much??? Uhm...yeah...and then...you know...*cries*

And finally...ZUKO!!!?? WHAT?!?!?!?? He was uhm...a little scary in the beginning with his little change there...but OH SO CUTE smiling and all that = HEART.?? BUT WOW.?? As much as I'm crying over this...well, it WAS a great twist.?? Very impressive for this finale.?? BUT WHY??!?!??!?!?!?!?? What about your UNCLE?!?!?!?!?? Your MOM!?!?!?!?? Your little...metamorphosis dream sickness thingamabobbie??!?!?!?! Oh Zuko...I can't believe it...you were so close...and you let that sister of yours get to you...oh my...;_;!!!!!!!

And one more thing.?? That was cruel.?? And cold.?? Leading us on like that...

*breathes* But I must say....wonderful season finale.?? It certainly did its job...surprises, twists, intensity, and AN ABSOLUTE AND IMMEDIATE NEED OF THE NEXT SEASON.

That was one of the best and most intense season finales i have ever seen ( it beat out??LOST to me ). There was just a surprise every 2 minutes ( seconds ). I liked the part were we found out why Iroh was called the dragon of the east and were toph began to metal bend. Although i did not like the cliffhanger and i didn't like what Zuko did. Although i believe he does ave a plan up his bratty prince sleeves. I also think that they are going to break Iroh out of jail ( if he is still alive ) and then he will become Aang's firebending teacher. basically, The episode was great and i can't wait until next season ( when does the next season start? ).

he's (zuko) one of my favorites too. i just hope that the creators aren't as mean as to drop his case with this. i think he'll somehow redeem himself because i'm sure we're not the only dissapointed zuko fans. if he does redeem, i hope its something really big.

I didn't mention it earlier because, as stupid as it would've been, I truly wanted Zuko to join the gAang. But seriosly, think ahout this for a second, he was facing life in Ba Sing Se with an Uncle who really loves him and he honestly had no chance of capturing Aang. Then Azula shows up with the perfect oppurtunity to not only capture Aang and get his honor back, but capture Ba Sing Se (Ozai will be proud of him for that, even without the avatar). I can't believe so many people expected to him to 1) pass up a perfect oppurtunity to get his honor back and 2) completely betray and kill his own sister. What he did made perfect sense and I'm happy the writers didn't go the cliche route. I actually cheered when he started fighting Aang, as much as I wished he hadn't, it would've been utterly ridiculous for him not to.

I know it's been said, but once again: EXCELLENT EPISODE.

I??mean really...everything was great. Romance, action, fight scenes, humor...perfect. LOVED the Katara/Aang stuff and though I'm a Katara/Aang fan all the way, I even enjoyed the Zuko/Katara moment. I was just waiting for Aang to burst in and pop a cap in Zuko for messin' with his woman ;P The end was SO touching. The darkness and the silence in the animation really showed how depressing the situation was, the earth kingdom fell! I really like the fact that Zuko turned bad again, but it just doesn't seem consistant. I mean, two seconds earlier, he was sweet as pie. I have a strange feeling that maybe it's all a trick, and he's planning to help Iroh in the end. We all know he will turn good eventually, I mean, it's Nick for goodness sakes. It's just a matter of when. I can not WAIT for season three. If this episode is any indication, it is going to be AMAZING.

I am in serious shock here. It's really draining. I was yelling and screaming at the tv soooo hard. Though I have to admitt that smiley Zuko, while cute, was just plain .... creepy. To me this season finale was like Brian & Mike saying to the fan base... "You think you know what's going to happen? Well, sit down punks, cause this is OUR story and WE call the shots." I feel like a puppy who's been smacked on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. I wanna stick my tail between my legs and sulk in the corner. Maybe I'll be able to watch the replay tommorow, but right now its a scary prospect. They so own us, why, because they know we will come back panting for more.??*wimper*

    In short:

A bittersweet but brilliant episode, and I applaud the writers immensely. And I doubt that any of those storylines are finished: Aang's battle with the Avatar state, he and Katara, the fate of Ba Sing Se, Toph's captors, Zuko...it'll be a weak final season indeed if it turns out that there is nothing more to all these plot points.

FINAL season? Oh no. No no no no no no no. Season 3 is NOT the last season. There are sooooooooooo many things left to fill in that it couldn't possibly be done in one more season. Here's why I say it's not the final season:

    1) Aang STILL needs to master firebending, and the creators say that he will definately face the fire lord in this season. That will at least take up the whole 20 episodes, not to mention there's the whole relationship things and the fact that Zuko is conflicted (and when he realizes his mistake and returns to the good guys, I'll be happy again. Zuko is??a totally awesome character. Not just because he looks cool [at least in the last couple of episodes], but because he's the biggest enigma inside the whole Avatar universe. You don't know what he's going to do. EVERYONE was shocked by what he did. That's saying something).

    2) Obviously the thing weith Toph's parents thinking the Avatar kidnapped her is going to play out more. It's too convenient that the creators let Toph bend metal and got those two trapped. It foreshadows something, I just don't know what.

    3) The Dai Lee. Long Feng might return (I don't know how, but something tells me he will).

    4) Zuko's mother. Tell us what happened!

    5) Finally, there are just too many fans to have them stop it at 3 seasons. There's so much they could do with more seasons. What's the post-Fire Nation War like? Maybe Ozai isn't the one really pulling the strings and someone else is behind everything? There's so many possiblities.

Wow....?? It was a good think Katara didn't waste that special water on Jet or Zuko that is for damn sure.

Also Toph has really come along not only learning how to bend metal but getting all snuggled up with Sokka(who probably didn't even notice) on the way back to to save the earth king and Katara.?? That and getting the upper hand on Ty Lee after the break out. She also seemed to be bigger then she has in the past anyone else notice that?

Aang got though those chakra lessons really fast though even the last one. Hopefully it will pay off for him.?? Still he leared a life times worth of lessons in a day or less. even with the hang up.?? and that is just because letting go is never easy.

Ba sing sa hasn't fallen yet I think retaking it from the Princesses will be the beginning of next season.

Ok now that tons of ppl have talked about it, could someone PLEASE write an episode recap for them? It's super hard to piece together all that hapened based on what ppl are saying. I am gathering that aang ditched his training to help katara, toph escaped and is ok, Sokka seemingly had very little parts, and Azula kicked the crap out of Aang?

Also, even though I haven't even seen it, rmemeber the trick Iroh and Zuko did to Zhao in the season finale last season? Wouldn't it be hilarious if they just did the same thing twice (having them trick someone) only to have everyone fall for it again?

Now let's think for a second, if the Avatar cycle ended there would be no more airbenders once Aang died. And don't give me any "Well Aang and his signifcant other's kids will have more kids" this is Nickelodeon, not Cinemax.

I'd have to view the Guru episode again to be sure, but it seemed as though Zuko wanted to be captured. It was way to quick a take down for someone as angry and fiery as Zuko. He could have been planning to betray Iroh for a while (the sickness and his way too sudden attitude change afterward.) Who knows...

I'm among all the others who are ready to slap Zuko right now. But Aang! Is he just an airbender now, or is he still the avatar? Has he really given up Katara?

My votes for giving up Katara = No, he hasn't. It's the same as the truth chakra. Aang unblocked it, but when Toph asked him if he had mastered the avatar state, he lied and said no. And yet, later he was still able to Avatar State it up. I say it's like this, unblock a gate, and now feel free to totally abuse that power, because it can no longer be blocked up again. So, that's just my two cents.

Oh, and did anyone else notice how totally head over heels Ty Lee was for Sokka? Funny stuff, honestly. Another highlight was Katara and Zuko battling it up with their water and fire whips. But the all time best was Toph bending the metal. Flipping sweet.

So, If Aang's avatar spirit died, which made him able to bend the other elements.?? So Aang might just end up being just an Airbender, after all that work.

Actually I don't think Ty Lee likes Sokka as much as she pretends she just knows that it distracts him a might give her an advantage in a fight.?? If she really liked him she would have gotten him his own cell or would have at least visited.
